I used this phone to call a locksmith because I locked my keys and cell phone in the car.  It doesn't tell you the rates or anything you will be charged.  I was charged $58 for 5 minute call.  After the charges cleared my bank I called the number and asked why is it so high, apparently there are 3 charges in addition to the minutes you use; property charge, connect charge, and service charge.  The company information is Custom Tele Connect, 6242 W. Desert Inn, Las Vegas, NV  89146.  I reported it to the BBB and will probably report it the other agencies as well.

I needed to make a call on a public phone inside the lakewood mall in lakewood california. phone stated call would cost .75 cents, when i tried to insert coins it seemed all the phones had the coin input internally blocked where you had to use a credit card in order to make a call, nowhere on the phone nor any message mention additional fees. i was charged $18.16 on my credit card for a 1 minute local call. I have reported this to the FCC and to the better Business Bureau as all of you should in order for this company to stop ripping people off. they go by the name (Custom Teleconnect Inc. 6242 W. Desert Inn Rd. Las Vegas, NV 89146) report them to the FCC, Better Business Bureau and Attorney General.

I received a phone call on October 19. There was an automated voice telling me that I had a collect call from my father.  It asked if I would accept charges and I pressed one for yes.  It then asked for my credit card information which I entered.  We proceeded to talk for approximately 3 minutes.  Today when I saw my online bank statement I was shocked.  There was not one but TWO outrageous charges on my card, one for 20.14 on the 19th and an additional one for 31.05 on the 20th.  Both of these charges are from Custom TeleConnect or CTI.  At no time during the phone call was I informed of the rates that would be charged.  This company preys on desperate people who need to make collect calls.  This practice is highly unethical and would be considered immoral and illegal by most.  Reputable companies do not cheat their customers with hidden ridiculous prices and credit card fraud.  I am very disappointed with CTI and will avoid this company at all costs.  I will be filing reports with the BBB and FCC.

I accepted a collect call within the same sate that I am located in and the charges were $80!  I only talked for a few minutes and this charge is crazy. I plan to file a complaint with the company and have already filed  a fradulent claim with my bank.

Didn't have my cell phone on me and needed to make a call to find a location.  I used a payphone at a gas station but decided to charge the local call b/c I didn't have any change on me.  My bank statement reflects $23.43 for a local call that lasted no longer than 2 minutes. Has anyone had any success with getting the exorbitant charge refunded in part?  It is outrageous that the complaints here reach back as far as 2008.

I called home to San Diego from Las Vegas area and was charged $40.88 for a three minute call to my daughter.  I was shocked at the charge on my debit card checking statement the next day.  Call after call no luck. Says to leave a message, but no one calls.  THis is a rip off for anybody usinga cti pay phone.  Stay away from them. This guys are plain dishonest and likely from a foreign country doing business in U.S.

I accepted several collect calls from my son who was alone, out of state, and in a serious bind when he called (stolen car, cell phone, etc). At the front-end of these calls, there was no operator, only an automated voice-activated controller.

None of these calls had any disclosure of upfront fees or any type of price schedule. NOTHING. And of course, there was no disclosure on the very high charges I would incur. The credit card charges will be disputed. And, as others have done, I will contact the FCC and AG.

    Check these charges:

    Posted 2/1/2010 $45.69;  posted 2/2/2010 $17.30,   posted 2/8/2010  $35.98; posted 2/9/2010  $71.27;   posted 2/10/2010   $17.99, posted 2/11/2010   $17.99.

I'm not paying those outrageous fees. More than $200 of "calls"? Yeah, right....they think we're stupid?
They will be disputed with my credit card company.

I was at a payphone in Dallas... a pay phone that costed $.50 to use if I put in change. After I put in two quarters, a message displayed coin operation was not available. It may have been posted on the phone, but there was never a confirmed price quoted. It simply asked me for verification information and placed my call. I was on the line less than a minute and got a surprise to $13.00 to let me boss know I was prescription was taking a little longer than I thought.  I should have just been late and explained when I got back to work. My bank was no help because I 'authorized' the debit. So, look out for pay phones operated by CTI COLLECT CALL.

I used my debit card at a payphone because the coin operation kept stealing my quarters and my bill reflected 23.50 for 9 minutes. When I called Custom Teleconnect Incoproated at 6242 W. Desert Inn, Las Vegas NV 89146 at (702) 368-3324, I was told they were authorized to refund 20%. They gave me the name of the company that owned the phone with the 800-241-3965, which was NSC Service Corp, Pleasanton, CA (925) 461-4200. CTI said they provided the system but not the automated credit card system. I left a message on the answering machine of NSC because their customer service was overloaded-not surprising. Also I noted that the payphone had the name NSC on it.

I called the FCC and they gave me the number of Public Utilities Commission 800-649-7570 (open 9-3) and said they regulate at the state level (CA), but if they would not take my complaint I could recontact the FCC for assistance.

Hope this info in helpful to someone.

I have some good info for people that might save time knowing where to go for help. Im posting here so that it will be on top. Basically, CTI (Nevada) is the phone company system provider and NSC (California) is a business that pays CTI for the 800 number. NSC is responsible for the charges and operations, CTI receives the money and pays NSC. NSC is the one that is causing problems, they run the 800 number. The FCC referred me to the CA Public Utilities Commission 800-649-7570 (open 9-3).

    Here are the details:
I used my debit card at a payphone because the coin operation kept stealing my quarters and my bill reflected 23.50 for 9 minutes. When I called Custom Teleconnect Incoproated at 6242 W. We got a charge of $45.77 for a call to this number (CTIPHONECALL 800-2413965) on our American Express. We called American Express and explained that we didn't know what this charge was for and they immediately credited us for that amount, no questions asked!

Made a 3 min call from a Pay Phone with my Debit Card and was charged $20.00 and then another $14.02.  I called CTI and they said that the $20.00 would be refunded within 7 to 10 days but the $14.02 is what they charge for using a Debit Card.  I don't know how to go about disputing this.

Son called collect Friday 6/1/8 from Yellowstone and being dumb and worried about him I accepted the phone call and being even more dumb I gave my debit card #.  I was shocked to see a $20.14 charge for a 3 minute call. But, I agreed so lesson learned or so I thought.  I was checking my bank transactions on Monday 6/22 and this low life CTI had hit my account for 45.00. This I did not authorize and never would after the first punch of being ripped off.  I actually was talk to a personal banker when this hit my account.  I was talking instead of checking online because bad storms had knocked out phone, cable and internet.  The personal banker said I had the right to dispute and I am.  I am tired of low life theives and this is one they will not get.  I tried to reach CTI and their email address is no good and no one answers.  Why don't these jerks that are worried about McDonalds passing out some cheap ass toys to some little kids who might not be able to go out very much, why don't they go after this type of lowlife creaps.........
