I used the public phone in Anaheim Stadium and they charged me twice $20 and $18.76 for a call made to the same area code. It is stupid. Please people do not use this public phones anymore because  they are just stolen money

Received a collect call stating to accept it I had to use my debit card. Talked for less than 3 minutes. Received a debit charge from this company for $20.83. When I called CTI they said there are other fees included in this and this is the rate. It is absolutely a horrible rip off. I will be reporting them to the BBB, FCC and anyone else that I can as well as let anyone and everyone I know to never use this company or these pay phones. They should be against the law. Especially when accepting the call we are NOT told of the so called OTHER charges that will also be applied.

Made a 5-6 minute credit card call in the airport.  The call was supposed to cost 3 bucks a minute plus a 5 dollar connection fee, so the call should have been no more than 23 or so dollars. Instead they slap me with almost $125 in fees.  For lack of disclosure of other fees I reported them to FCC and BBB.  Left a message on their machine today.  Contested the charge with the credit card company, which is now evaluating the case.

Called CTI again today at 1-800-672-9080.  The service rep was nice, but he lied straight up telling me that the FCC doesn't require them to disclose charges.  I caught him on this and mentioned that I had just gotten off the phone with the FCC.  He agreed to refund all connection costs (34 dollars) for the call.  He also admitted that $15 dollars of my charge was a mistake.  So I got $49 dollars back out of 124.  Not what I had hoped, but something.

I made a 30 second call on a credit card at a pay phone marked, "4 minutes anywhere in the US for $1."  The bill showed up for $16.66 from this CTI company.  I tried calling the 800-241-3965 number listed but couldn't get through, so I disputed it with my credit card company.  They said that it might be a hard dispute for me to win if the company argued against it, because it couldn't be proven that I talked for under 4 minutes.  Still, they did reimburse me above the $1, so cheers to the Desjardins Visa people!

They also advised me never to use a credit card at any pay phone, because basically you are opening yourself up to grand theft.  I told them that they can be sure I never will again!

You're lucky your charge wasn't so big as mine. They charged me $61.20 for a 1-minute collect call from Charleston, SC to Dallas, TX. Somehow this company is getting away with this outrageous practice and I hope we can all help to stop it. I filed a complaint with my credit card as well as consumer's affairs. I'm going to file a complaint with BBB as well.

This company called CTI 800-2413965  has had allot of compaints about them. I'm also another customer who has a compaint. I made a 3 minute phone call form Montana to Missouri and it cost me $26.24. What a high charge this is.

I have read other customers have had high charges from this compnay also. I just filled a compaint to the FCC. Hopefully they can do some thing about the high charges this company puts out.

    The Solution:
Call your bank, dispute the charges, cancel the credit card, ask for a new one.  Yes it's annoying but it's the only way to go.

No idea why I have a $25.15 chg on VISA from this number for a "collect call."  No recollection of receiving a collect call ... in fact, I was out of my home state when this supposedly happened.  Accepted no such call on my cell.  What's the deal?

The State of Iowa had a case against CTI in 2007.  They are professional crooks who mak a mockery of State regulation of utilities - when one state shuts them down they hop over to another jurisdiciton.  It will take Federal action to close CTI.  However, these people know that is coming, so they already have other companies and merchant accounts ready to keep stealing from consumers.  The principals need to be locked up and all of their assets seized.

MY ADVICE TO YOU IS BELOW.
I too was a victim. CTI charged me $37.72 for a local 1 1/2 minute call.
I called my credit card company and told them that I would like to make a dispute against CTI for NOT disclosing to me all the charges and additional fees before I excepted a reverse charge call from my friend. My credit card company said that in their experience, CTI and other reverse charge companies do not have to disclose any charges before you except calls and they are allowed to charge as much as they want to for their services.
My credit card company DID give me the maximum curtousy refund of $15.00 though, so I felt a little better. Please do the same and dispute it with your credit card co. A part refund is better than none at all. And at least we know better for in the future, we learn by our misfortunes. It is terrible that these people rip us off for outrageous fees but there are a lot of sharks out there and we don't have to take it lying down.

I was charged $42.84 for trying to make two separate calls which didn't even connect.  I could hear the person I called, but they could not hear me.  Each call was less than a minute long.  I was able to get them on the line pretty quickly using 1-800-672-9080 and said that since they didn't connect I would receive a refund in 7-10 days.  I am now going to file a complaint with the FCC and the BBB.  I have already called the lodge where I was staying and informed them.  They are going to remove the stickers from the pay phone that advertise CTI.  I advise everyone who was ripped off by them to contact the FCC and BBB.

A close friend is in a rehab program and used a credit card to call me on several occassions.  The first post to the account comes through as a $5.00 preauthorization.  As we talked for 30 mins, we both thought that was a pretty reasonable rate.  It is an instate call we are within an hour drive of eachother.  However, when I went back online today to check the account, there is now a charge for $63.00.  We have talked on four different occasions.  I am betting that the calls end up costing us over $200.  I am going to go to my bank and try to stop the payments tomorrow.  I am not sure it will do any good.  Then I am going to get a calling card though a major telecommunications company.  By the way, there was no mention of any sort of charge to my friend who used the credit card.  Seems so wrong!  I will try and file complaints with all the agencies that have been mentioned through the posts, but it will take me awhile to find the time.
