No it will not.  Under the FDCPA you can sue for actual damages, which would be the amount you paid them, as well as the statutory $1000.  Further, they have to pay your attorney's fees.  However, I can see that you are advertising your website in your screen name, so I have reported your post for deletion and will also notify the administrator of you attempt to advertise your scam work at home business.

So Methodist hospital didn't like that I wasn't paying fast enough and sent me to collections. I just got the letter from these idiots yesterday and they have called twice already.

They call, then hang up when you answer.   No telling how they document that.

This number calls daily. They never leave a message, and if I answer they just hang up on me. Today the rep said hello after I answered so I said hello again and he hung up. If I owe for a bill I missed, fine, but how do I pay it if they just won't communicate.

I can't do all that over the phone, speak with them and ask questions, when all they do is hang up after I answer!

So, tell me, how is it that you read through 4 pages of posts to get to that one and ignored all the posts in here that gave you the information to permanently stop the calls?

Been called anywhere between 4 & 5 times a day every day (7 days a week basically) by this company whoever they are. They start their annoying calls as early as 8 am (central time) and keep calling clear up until about 6 or 7 pm (central time) which in turn has been adding up largely in my DU caller ID/call blocking app.
I DON'T answer calls from Debt Collectors and I certainly DON'T fear them EVER- but: These irritating calls need to STOP since they have Absolutely NO business with ME what so ever! Enough is Enough and its HIGH TIME they got off their tiny little pedistol and realized that NO ONE ever has to answer annoying calls!

You're right about hospitals! If a person doesn't pay everything all in one shot- they get greedy. If you're talking about Methodist Hospital in Des Moines IA- Yes- Greedy Greedy Greedy and no longer worth seeking medical help from!
Been through more than enough financial torment from Them as it is so in turn, be wary of Them, they'll do everything They can just to get money out of people and they'll hire nusciences just to get it!

In any event:

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.

If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  dime until the debt is validated

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.

If they are bothering you, report them:

Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question.  As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes.  The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question.  Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else.  So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you.  Let the FTC sort it out.

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you,  and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.

You have to get tuff with these people because,  being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking).   the only thing they understand.

Called at 10 a.m. this morning.  Did not recognize number so did not pick up.  Caller ID identified as 800-247-8855 GeneralSVCBureau.  Did not leave message.  Will not pick up unless I know who it is.  Assume debt collector as reviewing previous notes.

Thus number keeps calling me and i have no idea who it is. I would like the calls to stop.

They have been calling me everyday twice a day for a debt that is not even mine. I don’t even live in Nebraska.
