Caller left a message and said his name was Ethan and wants to set up payment plan for outstanding student loans and needs to speak "right away."  Well, I don't have any outstanding student loans. I'm so not calling back. "they must be phishing for personal info.

This number keeps calling me to help with my student loans. I don't have any student loans. I've blocked them but they can still leave a message. I've called and requested to be removed from their list. Now I keep calling them and they hang up on me.

I keep getting this same voicemail from different numbers. All from the same area code. I’ve never had any student loan debt.  I’ve called the number in the voicemail claiming to be a police department and they hung up on me. Now I’m getting these calls multiple times a day, all from different numbers.

Same!! That’s a prerecorded message, then it goes right to VoIP in some third world country to steal your savings! Nice to know This is a path they choose in life

“Ethan” is calling daily to discuss the 2021 student loan forgiveness that I am eligible for. I’m not falling for that. If this was really an option, it would show up on my government loan page.

Has been calling almost every day to discuss my student loans. I haven’t returned the call because most likely it is a scam.

I get left voice mails that go exactly as so:

Hi this is Ethan with the student services department I'm following up in regards to your outstanding federal student loans _____ been trying to reach you because you're eligible for federal student loan forgiveness due to the changes made in 2021 it's imperative that I speak with you as soon as possible since the COVID-19 payment delay is about the end to discuss your options please give me a call back at 1-800-249-7097 I look forward to speaking with you have a great day

The fact that the voicemails are all identical with no shift in tone tells me that it is prerecorded message as well as having no true information from my loan servicer of anything in the way of loan forgiveness.

Same "Ethan with student services".  Have never had a student load.  Getting called daily, from a different roughly local phone number each day.  Always rings less than once, but leaves a full voice mail message.  Calling the number and pressing the key to stop receiving communications disconnects the line.  Wish I could report this to FCC for harassment or something.

I got the same number from the same area code as my phone, 775.

"Hi this is Ethan with student services..." same exact message everyone else got. I figured it was a scam.

I had the same call. I’m 65 so I don’t have any outstanding student loans although I guess I could but it’s unlikely. Definitely a scam

I once asked one of these callers if he believes in God. He said yes. I told him if you do and what do you think God is going to say when you leave this earth and he finds out you’ve been trying to cheat/steal money from old people, people that couldn’t afford to lose any money etc. He said sir… You’ll never understand my situation. I live where this is the only type of work I can get to feed my family. It made me think and I’ve never been close to being in desperate situation but somehow I don’t think I would choose that path. But you never know. In any case it was an interesting conversation

State they are with student services. I ask what department and they state again student services.  I told them the next thing you are going to do is ask me pay for services that I can do apply for directly on the Department of Ed website for free.  I told him to stop calling me that I am going to report you.  He said I am not calling you.  I said put me on the do not call list.

"Ethan" with the "student services department" called me twice this weekend and said that I'm "eligible for student loan forgiveness due to the changes that were made in 2021." He then said he wanted to discuss repayment options, but if I was eligible for cancelation, I wouldn't have to pick a repayment option...
