- elle| 1 replyMCM calls my house 2-3 times a day everyday asking to speak to someone I have never heard of and giving me the persons last 4 SS# digits and asking if thats my digits after I have already told them that they have the wrong number. I have asked to speak to a supervisor and once actually got through to someone that claimed to be a supervisor and he promised to take my number off his list but so far they still keep calling. This is so frustrating and I hate when people insinuate that I am lying on the phone. I sure wish this company would just go away!

- J| 2 repliesI just received a call from "Teri @ MCM", asking for a relative who has NEVER lived here. I told her that she doesn't live here, and she said, "Well, why did she use YOUR number." I said, "I have NO idea." She followed with a very rude and sarcastic, "Well, maybe YOU need to ask HER why she used your phone number!" I don't think that she believed me when I said that she doesn't live here, never has. I explained to her that I'm a grown woman, and she is a grown woman, and that I will not be talked to that way and to NEVER call me again. She hung up on me.
After reading the other posts, apparently, I need to be prepared for further harassment!- Caller: MCM

- Y25| 1 replyHow can I have my number removed off their list? I keep getting calls at work, and they are very rude!!! I cannot receive these type of calls at work, I do not even know what it is about... for crying out loud, these people barely speak ENGLISH!!! The next time they call (which will most likely be in another day or two), I am going to record the conversation, and I will take legal action, need it be. I'm sick of it!

- JC replies to Y25Have you tried a "Cease & Desist" letter? You can Google the procedure. C & D letters are sent to credit collection agencies to stop the phone calls. They have to abide by them - by federal law.
- Just MeMCM calls me at work about some bill my RoomMate has. I told them my name and they asked for my roommate 3 times and was he available and they wanted to talk to him. I told MCM they were calling my work number and I would give my roommate the message & then in a not so nice kind of way they wanted his work number.
I told her I am not giving you his work number so you can call him at his job and bug him & she was not very happy with me & then said "Whats HIS WORK NUMBER" I told her dont call my work number again about my roommates bill.- Caller: MCM

- SheilaMCM keeps calling..they never leave a message and the number always comes up as UNKNOWN. I answer several times , but they are extremely rude. I asked for the phone number and the address, he gave me the phone number but refused to give the address unless I told him my social security number. I said, you have an accent you aren't even in the US are you? He then said, no he was calling from India. I told him I was NOT giving any information what so ever to someone in india, and again I asked for his address which they are REQUIRED to give to me, he again refused and swore at me. I looked them up on the internet and found the address, I will now send a cease and desist letter, whomever they are calling for will have to contact me directly since they also refused to send me any information in writing as to why they were calling me.

Web: arizonabbb.org - FrankReceived an unsolicited call from a collection agency to call back to an 800 number, 800.265.8825, x 2276, ask for Henry. I called back and he asked my name and phone number. I did not give him any other information because I was suspicious of the call. He said they were collecting from a MasterCard debt from 1999. According to my records from three credit service reports there is no debt from that year.

- Mad replies to VickyThank you so much for this information!!! I have been receiving calls, unknown on my cell ID, for a "Barry" since January 31st at various times of the day, and the worst is the times prior to 9 AM on a Sat. or Sun.! I work nights so this is horrible when it comes in on my cell phone in the early AM! I have to keep my cell on because I have 2 children in their early 20's and I never know if they are going to have to call me for this or that. I have told callers from the company that I have had my number for a long time, that I don't know "Barry" and they still call. My daughter ended up finally getting the name of the company out of one of the people, as well as a phone number, when she decided to pick up the phone to see what they wanted because of how upset I was getting. This is how I googled it and found your post. I found another post on another site and put my input there as well. This company needs to be stopped! I even called AT&T Wireless this AM because I was so mad at the call that came in this AM at 8:36AM!!! Aren't I allowed to sleep after working half the night?? If we all write them, threaten them with a law suit, a class action suit, then perhaps they will stop their ridiculous practice of debt collection with people who have nothing to do with them!! Thanks again!
- Mad replies to Jerry| 1 replyThank you for this information also! I just left a post in reply to Vicki's post, for her info, and now I thank you for yours. At least I can write them now and let them know exactly what I will do if they do not stop calling me. I have no debts owing to this company. I just have a phone number on my cell since back in early 2000 that belonged, obviously, to someone else and I figure they are trying to reach that "Barry". Crazy!!! So, thank you, and they might be seeing a lawsuit from me for harassment. I belong to PrePaid Legal Services and all I have to do is call them and they will write a letter on my behalf to tell them to stop harassing me.

- Alfalfa replies to S| 6 repliesEven if this alledged debt did belong to you, it would not be collectable as the SOL (Statue of Limitations) has long since expired.
This is just another bottom feeder trying to collect on a "zombie debt".
Send them this letter VIA certified mail demanding validation and request a return receipt. As they will probably not be able to produce documentation proving that this debt belongs to you, you should never hear from them again. And, if they persist in harassing you after you have written proof they have received it, they can face fines of up to $1,000.00 PER violation:

Dear {insert name of collector or company},
I am writing in response to your (letter or phone call) dated {insert date}, (copy enclosed) because I do not believe I owe what you say I owe.
This is the first I've heard from you, or any other company on this matter therefore, in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Section 809(b): Validating Debts:
(b) If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
I respectfully request that you provide me with the following information:
(1) the amount of the debt;
(2) the name of the creditor to whom the debt is owed;
(3) Provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable);
(4) Proof that you are licensed to collect debts in (insert name of your state)
Be advised that I am fully aware of my rights under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. For instance, I know that:
because I have disputed this debt in writing within 30 days of receipt of your dunning notice, you must obtain verification of the debt or a copy of the judgment against me and mail these items to me at your expense;
you cannot add interest or fees except those allowed by the original contract or state law.
you do not have to respond to this dispute but if you do, any attempt to collect this debt without validating it, violates the FDCPA;
Also be advised that I am keeping very accurate records of all correspondence from you and your company including recording all phone calls and I will not hesitate to report violations of the law to my State Attorney General, the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau.
I have disputed this debt; therefore, until validated you know your information concerning this debt is inaccurate. Thus, if you have already reported this debt to any credit-reporting agency (CRA) or Credit Bureau (CB) then, you must immediately inform them of my dispute with this debt. Reporting information that you know to be inaccurate or failing to report information correctly violates the Fair Credit Reporting Act § 1681s-2. Should you pursue a judgment without validating this debt, I will inform the judge and request the case be dismissed based on your failure to comply with the FDCPA.
Finally, if you do not own this debt, I demand that you immediately send a copy of this dispute letter to the original creditor so they are also aware of my dispute with this debt.

http://www.fair-debt-collection.com/Disputing ... ute-letter.html - Tired of the hangupsI kept getting an unknown caller that would hang up if my husband was not home. Obviously from Indian decent from the heavy accent. Would ask for my husband, we would tell him he was not there at the moment (work) and would hang up. Then yesterday we got a call from them again. I advised them that I was his wife and that anything they needed to discuss with him could be taken up with me. He told me it was a debt for an HSBC card (that he said was 3 yrs old and 'sitting on his social') that I knew nothing about. I get the mail and have never seen a letter from these people. Told them to send a letter and he gave me a rude lecture about paying this TODAY at a reduced rate. Told my husband about it and he said he has not seen anything either. They NEVER leave messages (after being hung up on numerous times I started ignoring Unknown status calls) and when you do answer they are rude and just hang up on you.
