- Olivia BurtonGot a call from this number this morning, May 1, 2016! This is a Sunday! They ask for my son, who doesn't live with me and when I ask what this was about all I got from this guy ( who name is Jayden Carter) was that it's a business matter! I told him any business that has to do with my son, has to do with me and I hung up the phone!!

- Jessica/Daniel SchmidtI received a call looking for Daniel Schmidt (very common name here so this is pretty common for us) but this company is very rude and same as above have stated. Will send a certified letter if it continues. I spoke with a Roger Hunter at ext 52818 who also had an accent and was difficult to understand and spoke rather quickly especially in the beginning when he told me this call might be recorded.

- Tisha| 1 replyI have been receiving calls from this company for some time now about several accounts that they claim are mine and they are not. Asked for proof to be mailed to me and it never happens. They have fake telephone numbers that they call from. Very rude, harassing, and liars. The caller claimed that his name was Patrick Lawson and told me he was calling from india. He states that the last time they sent me any correspondence was in June of 2016. I asked if this was an active account that they were working so hard to collect on, why am I barely hearing from them now and no written correspondence. I was not give an answer. The main focus of the caller was to harass me into paying this debt online with them. I asked where the company was located and he claimed that the company he was calling from was located in San Diego and told me that I could look up my account online but if I wanted to pay the debt to call him back. But when you call this number back, (i called because I was investigating), it is not a business at all. Here is all the information I was able to collect from the caller...
Midland Funding LLC
Patrick Lawson
2365 North Side Suite 300
San Diego, CA
800-265-8825 but the number they called me from was 602-362-4192
The website the gave me to check for my debt was midlandcreditonline.com but through my investigation, the company that actually called me has a website midlandfunding.com. when you click on the links from the midland funding website, it redirects you to webpages from the midlandcreditonline website. Midlandcreditonline even has a different telephone number. I called midland Credit Management who had no record of anyone calling me for a debt that has passed it statue of limitations for suing me, which was also mentioned in the conversations. I have placed fraud alerts on my credit reports and I advice that you continue to report this company so we can help others.- Caller: Mindland Funding

- Martin| 3 repliesI worked for Mcm, you have the rigth to request no contact for anyway, record the call and you have the rigth to speak with uppermanagment!!

- Heinz57 replies to Martin| 1 replyMartin, try using spell check....it's R-I-G-H-T....RIGHT as in a legal or moral entitlement , not R-I-G-T-H......RIGTH is not a word .
And you say you worked for Midland Credit Management??? That speaks volumes! Do you still work there? What do you/did you do there? - Resident47 replies to TishaMidland Credit Management Inc. is the collection subsidiary of major debt buyer Encore Capital Group. Its known aliases: Midland Funding LLC / Midland Funding NCC-2 Corp / Midland Recovery Corp / MRC Receivables Corp
Maybe you want to rethink your reality test of the company. It's real enough to the millions now suffering from their court judgments. It is not implausible for MCM to rely on cheap South Asian labor, nor would I be surprised to learn that its left and right hands are not on speaking terms. MCM has coasted for a long time on sloppy procedures, and been spanked repeatedly by state AGs and federal watchdogs. It couldn't sit down for a month after the CFPB delivered a game-changer consent order in 2015 to halt its ingrained sneaky tactics in and out of court.
I'm also curious where that "correspondence" went to last summer. If it's true you never got your initial dunning letter, you'll never have to call Mister "Lawson" or anyone else with an open wallet. Rather, MCM will owe you if you decide you're cheesed enough to sue.

- Resident47 replies to MartinWhat will "upper management" (spelling corrected) do for me that I can't do better through USPS Certified? Your bosses wanted to get paid as badly as you, yes? A polite junk debt collector is one which goes bankrupt. Don't worry, I'll "record the call" in any case, but for enforcement of my rights I want a paper trail, not easily ignored verbal promises.
- Ken| 2 repliesI got a call from these folks asking for my deceased sister-in-law. He would not tell me who the company was, just his own name when I asked repeatedly. Nor would he tell me the purpose of the call. When I told him she was dead, he wanted me to send him a death certificate.
- BigA replies to KenYou do not have to prove anything to these people. Also, if you read the other posts in this thread, I am pretty sure you will find out how to properly deal with them. ©
- Resident47 replies to KenI would guess that the secretive rep was trying to avoid a lawsuit on privacy grounds, yet still got parts of the FDCPA wrong. Not revealing a call purpose was correct protocol. But upon your request the rep was supposed to give you his agency's name. He was also supposed to ask to speak to or locate the executor or other person managing the alleged debtor's estate. If you do not represent the deceased, you can't be told anything more. Prying a death cert from you was not how to get his job done if your personal role in the matter was never established.
Certain vulture debt collectors were getting so rowdy some years ago that the FTC went out of its way in Summer 2011 to clarify its rules regarding decedent debt. The skinny is that FDCPA obligations do not die with an alleged debtor. That person's privacy must be honored. Survivors must not be subjected to harassment, annoyance, or deception.
FTC Issues Final Policy Statement on Collecting Debts of the Deceased - Candice J WilliamsI received a phone call from a man who sounded like he was from India. He was asking for my husband by name, but I told him that this was not a good contact number for him. He asked if I was his wife and I told him no and asked him if I could take a message. The man told me his name was James Stuart (or Stewart...I'm not certain of the spelling) from a company called MCM. The number he called me from was (619) 354-6305, but the call back number he gave me was 800-265-8825 extension 53926. I asked him where he was located and he told me that he was located in India but that his company had offices in LA and elsewhere. I asked him what this phone call was regarding and he only told me that it was a personal business matter.
