- WesternUnion Employee replies to Slim| 1 replyCorrection.
All digitally processed WU Money Transfers may be subject to a Verification Phone Call. Website says so. - Slim replies to WesternUnion EmployeeUm ...
The "Verification phone number" is the phone number of the person who is initiating the transfer via phone. It does not protect the sender against scammers that made the sender think the transfer was legitimate. If somebody sends the MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number) to a person, that person can get the money just about anywhere in the world.
When asked, too many people fib, and tell the WU employee the money is going to a family member, when it actually goes to some overseas scammer. - profiler replies to WesternUnion Employee| 1 replyIt is a scam!...and "joseph" is the scammer! And, by the way...Western Union is spelled like that...not like this "WesternUnion employee".
- WesternUnion Employee replies to profilerDude, you're just plain moronic xD

Emails and Phishing
Passwords and IDs hold high value with cyber criminals. Sending phishing emails to a lot of random email addresses is one easy way scammers steal information from unsuspecting people.
It's probably a phishing email if:
The email is poorly written with misspellings and incorrect grammar, or a familiar company name is misspelled.
Your name isn’t in the “To” line. This email has likely been sent to thousands of people.
The sender’s email address is suspicious; it might have a familiar company or government organization that is misspelled.
The email doesn’t use your name. Any financial institution you have an account with knows your name. Email beginning with “Dear valued customer,” “To Whom It May Concern,” or even “Hello,” could signal a scam.
The URL is a fake. Hover over the “click here” or “take action now” link with your mouse. If you see a strange URL instead of a legitimate company website, don’t click.
You’re informed that there’s a security breach on your account, and if you don’t take the action recommended in the email, your account will be temporarily suspended.
The email asks for your personal, credit card or online account information or takes you to a website that asks for it. Legitimate companies don’t usually do that.
If you receive a suspicious email:
Don't open it; delete it immediately.
Don't follow any links in the email - even if its to "unsubscribe" from the sender - or open any files attached to it.
Western Union wil never send you an email asking for your ID, password or personal information.
If you're not sure whether an email is from Western Union or not, don't open any links, click on any attachments, or provide any passwords or user IDs.
Forward the email to spoof@westernunion.com and then delete it.

- Caller: Western Union
- DGot a call from this number as well. Said it was being used to verify a transaction of $500 in my name.
Claims to have been backed by a credit card (with digits that don't match any of my own).- Caller: Western Union ??

- UpdateToday is 1/8/2015. I have read all the reviews listed for this number 800-325-6000. All the reviews listed above are from 2010/2009/2012 and so on. I usually use 800callnotes for reference and would like to provide an update to this number. This number is now associated with Western Union.

- Steve35Did a Western Union wire transfer today. Got a call from this very same number. At the beginning I was skeptic (is this really Western Union?), they told me it was regular procedure and to read the terms and conditions (a little rude btw). But I actually did, and there it was actually. It appears calls from WU for online wires are somewhat normal, I guess...

- Western Union Scammers!| 1 replyReceived a call from 800-325-6000 where a woman with a foreign accent was telling me the western union transaction I made did not go through. I have never made a western union transaction in my life so I knew this was a scam.
I played along. I told her that the money actually was supposed to come out of HER account and if she could kindly give me HER account details that I would ensure whatever transaction she was calling me about would be taken care of by using funds from HER account. I asked her for more details about this so-called transaction, who was the intended recipient? How much was it for? She stonewalled and didn't have much to say after that.
I told her to never call me again and that I would be reporting her and the western union scam to the authorities asap.- Caller: Western Union

- Susan| 1 replyThis is a total scam!!!!! Say they are calling from "Western Union". That is a lie!!!! The woman calling, who had very heavy Indian accent, said my credit card was declined for two transactions, and she wanted to run my credit card again to get the charges to clear. Western Union does NOT make phone calls telling someone their transaction was declined. Anyone whose ever sent a money order knows that you don't get the money order check in your hands until the funds are processed, typically paid for with cash, not debit card!!!!! Complete SCAMMERS!!!!! 1-800-325-6000.... Just wish I knew how they got my phone number! Have already called my cell phone provider to block any future calls from this number.... IDIOT F******!!!

- Susan replies to Western Union Scammers!Thank you!!!! Couldn't have said it better myself! These SCAMMERS make comments in this site so that people will read them and think 1-800-325-6000 is legit!!! Just read their posts carefully, the verbage is always incorrect, and not the type of grammatical errors anyone American would ever make!
I'm so angry that they thought for one second they could scam me! Contacting my local police department and filing formal complaint!! - Susie Que replies to SusanThe fraud department with my credit card company e-mailed me a couple of days ago telling me a suspicious charge was made to my account from Western Union. I called the credit card company to tell them to block the charge because I had not made it. They blocked the charge. Today I got a call from TOLL FREE CALLER 1-800-325-6000. Didn't answer. A woman with foreign accent (she couldn't even pronounce my last name) left a message that the "bank" had blocked the charge and that I should call my "bank" to get them to lift the block. She told me I could find the "bank" phone number on the back of my card. She also said to call WESTERN UNION at 1-800-325-6000 if my "bank" wouldn't cooperate. Called my credit card company again to report this call. They told me to monitor my credit card account closely and to contact them immediately if another transaction came in. I also wonder how the scammers got my phone number as well as my credit card number. This is so annoying.
- Lil Ol MeAnytime a strange number pops up I come here and look. Needless to say this number is now blocked.

- AnonymousThe Caller ID only shows this caller as OUT-OF-AREA. This caller calls at all hours of the day or night repeatedly. They never ever leave any message on my answering machine. And if I try calling them back, they never answer my call, and let the phone ring off the hook instead.

- thankfulSame exact thing happened to me today. I got the same message as was mentioned in several other posts...woman with a thick accent, etc. Since I had no business with Western Union I figured it was a scam or someone calling the wrong number. Later in the day, my card was declined when I tried to use it to make a purchase. I called my bank and was told that it was on hold for suspicious activity. They said that someone tried to use my CC to pay WU and was testing it out just before that transaction was denied. If you EVER get a call from someone you don't know, telling you "a transaction didn't go through", check it out first. Even if you do business via Western Union, check it out by hanging up and calling them using another number that YOU obtain by your own resources, NOT the one the SCAMMERS give you. These people are SCUM!

- Wendy AThis company just called me claiming they are from Microsoft Windows Technical Department; a Wallace Smith; ID No. 0075 telling me my Windows computer was in need of some "cleansing." I asked them for their phone number 1-800-325-6000 and googled the phone number - and found this to be a complete scam/spam - WARNING - do NOT send money or give your information!
- Caller: Allegedly Microsoft Windows
- PeggyCaller ID said JC Penney; the caller said they were with Western Union and asked to speak to a specific person. I told them they had a wrong number (actually they were calling a business number).
