Mine said Discover. I pushed #1 to talk to them since I know I don't have a Discover card. First thing I asked was where they were located. I was told NYC, near Times square. I asked how they are working when the pandemic had NYC in lockdown. I told him I didn't want him to die from the virus.

He said in a slow, soft and sort of scary voice, "I am the virus [***]."

Call from Discover credit card, not a customer. Very obvious it was fake, number spoofed! Now blocked. Won't be getting a credit card anytime soon!

Caller does not leave a message, but they call my home number frequently.  I do not answer.   If it was really Discover card, the rep would say so and leave a message!

They probably wouldn't, especially if it was a collection call.

This is the number listed on the back of our Discover card.  The ID on the phone says Unknown.  If I received a call from this number I would not answer it, even though I know it is a legitimate number, because it could also be spoofed.  However, I would call the number back to be sure there is no problem.  A little bit of hassle to be safe.

Do you often look up known phone numbers when there's no logical reason to do so?

This may be the number listed on the back of your credit card. but the SCAMMERS are using it as their caller ID.  Pay attention people.  Yesterday they were using 386-427-3386.  The caller is a PEDOPHILE trying to talk to what he thinks is a 10 year old.  Keeps calling back and we keep blocking so he just changes the number.  India accent....a whole call center of them based on the background noises.

Now they are claiming to be Citibank.  Calling me 10 times a day cannot be making them any money.  And, for those of you who say don't answer, I have to answer, it is a business line.

    Friendly Employee
Claims to be Discover Card, but I know it’s not Discover Card because Discover doesn’t call direct (unless maybe collections but they will leave a Voicemail). Offered to lower my interest rate.

This is not a legitimate charge and does not belong on my bill.  This happened before when I received two illegitimate charges!  How can I speak with someone?
