finally around when this number called.   Knew it was scam as CID read COMCAST BUSINESS.   Robo voice answered saying "your IP has been compromised, press 1 to speak to agent".   Decided to see what they'd say.   Indian picked up saying "comcast".   I asked if he really was comcast?  He said yes.   I asked why he's lying to me?  He responded, who's lying.    I simply said you are, I don't even have comcast so your nothing but a scammer...

The spammers must've gotten a hold of this supposed Comcast Business number. They left a message with the robotic woman voice stating "Your Comcast network IP address has been hacked from foreign address and need your urgent attention press one to speak to Comcast technical support" (all run-on sentence). We are not a Comcast customer. Nice try.

I took a chance based upon other user experiences (thinking I'd be calling Comcast Business) but I got regular Comcast Residential (most likely because it's asked for my location).  The rep looked at my records and indicated that the call may be related to new deals in my area.  They want to add phone to my double play.

Someone from this # called and said they were calling from comcast.  Said there were 2 other active computers on my network.  Gave me names and I said I didn't know them.  Was going to guide me through finding them and getting them off my network.  When I said I was not near a computer they hung up.

In the name of Comcast and using a variety of numbers comes nuisance calls or worse. One said their security system crashed and wanted to know if there was a lamp blinking on my modem. "Yes."  Then he wanted to know if other lamps were lighted. "Yes." Then, "Something is wrong. Type Ultraview into your browser, which will bring up the Ultraview ad and and download their ap, which will verify who I am. It brought up the ad, which said it would provide remote access and control. I told him I didn't know who he was and wasn't about to give him control of my pc and I hung up.

I phoned AT&T, told them I'd bought a new Xr a couple week's ago from them and was told their Privacy Policies would stop millions of spammers. She was anxious to put me on the Do Not Call list. I thought only a phone company would not know how useless that was and not be ashamed to push problems there.  AT&T may stop some analog displayed fake and solicitation numbers, but they don't stop the various numbers using that scam.

Google used to (may still) digitally block the actual source of the call.  If Google can do that, why can't AT&T?.  Also, if 800notes has volumes of reports of this operation (one caller reported it had been traced to Mexico.) why is AT&T clueless?  She said she'd pass the recorded conversation to her superiors, up into the ether.

About 4 hours later a call came from another number also claiming to be Comcast. All the calls I've received from "Concast" and checked with 800notes have have been reported to 800notes.

800notes does not make reports to other entities.  ATT does not come here to check reports.  While there might be a lot of reports, in most cases that is where it stops as people do not want to have to do anymore then that.

I finally called this number and it is a legitimate Comcast Business number.  The person I talked to is well aware of the number and she said they call customers to conjure up business.  I told her first of all, I am NOT a business and the calls I get are harassment.  They call our landline 3-4 times a day and I am fed up.  She took 800-391-3000 and 800-266-2278 also a legitimate number and put it on a NO CALL LIST.  SHe told me it would take at least 30 days for the calls to stop.

Just started getting these calls .....again.  Called 4 days ago to renew my deal with Comcast and in less than 24 hrs started getting flooded with robo/spoofing calls.  I’ll say it over and over, it’s Comcast/Xfinity’s overseas customer service centers making these calls. They have the tech/equipment to do this.

first message in this thread April 2009 - over ten years and these brats are still spoofing Comcast's number.
What does that say about the FCC's and the FTC's abilities to do anything productive.

Until and Unless the communication industry can be held both civilly and criminally liable as accomplices in the criminal activity these scammers are using their services for nothing is going to happen to stop the robo calls! Think about it for a minute - the comm-industry makes money selling the service to both the scammers and the regular consumers. This same industry spends 100's-Millions in lobbing efforts to make things better for them and not their customers. There is no incentive for either the comm-industry or government to do anything effective to stop these calls - BOTH are making money hands-over-fist!!!

This is NOT The Real Comcast! It is Scammers!  I fell for their SCAM.. They asked said they that my computer gave them error reports that suspicious activity was happening. They asked the same questions that the real Comcast asks when you talk with them. They even were able to get into my computer and said that they had to scan it for.. I don't remember.. virus and Child Porn? Never!! etc... It was finally when they said that I needed to buy a FireWall protection but Comcast does not have make this item so I must buy it .. they pulled a WalMart Web Site with FireWall that was $799. !!! I told them hell NO, I don't even have $100. extra every month! I was about to flip out when my son walked in and saw and hear some of the conversation and Pulled the plug on the Computer! I Thank God for my Son!  I am just too gullible! However, I know that there are many other just like me!  So I wanted to tell my side of this rotten piece of crap happening!   I then proceeded to call the Real Comcast and have to explain what happened!  They got me through then, I turned off my computer for the night. The following morning the same number had called my home and my cell- PS: with about 3 other numbers!  1 800 448 8410, 1 8220448 9394 ... They left a message: Threatening to pay $$$$ and I had 3 hours to pay up! I stopped the recording.... I have no idea what made me answer the phone in the first place.. I have been letting the answering machine take it and I will from now on!

Since you let them into your computer you need to take it to a brick and mortar repair shop and tell them what happened.  You should also cancel any bank accounts you access from your computer as well as change your passwords.

Calls me constantly telling me hacker are attacking my network. I do not have a business account.  They told me I need to have a technician come out and install a piece of equipment that I will have to pay $500 upfront for and be reimbursed back that will make my network absolutely secure. They did identify themselves as comcast.
