I just wanted to add my experience today. I received a call from 800-427-2449 that only said "800 Service" in the Caller ID. I elected not to answer. They left a voice message that it was from the Bank of America Fraud division and to please call back at 855-255-0613. After looking at previous reports for both numbers on this site I was not sure what the truth was. So I first logged into my account, saw nothings suspicious, but got the number to call, called B of A and talked with the Fraud service and told the person about what had happened and gave her both numbers. After answering some security questions she checked and found the charges that were in question. They were all valid charges so she took off the hold on the card.

Unless someone has found a way to forward calls to the bank's number to a fake site that is really thorough, I think I talked to the "real" fraud service. I hope I am not misleading anyone.

It is legit - they did NOT ask for my card number or SS number, just my name and phone number. Using that they pulled up my account and verified transactions that I had made. If it was fraud, they wouldn't have access to my account info.

Also, while you may not otherwise do business with BofA, they are one of the major credit card issuers, and so you may have a card from them.

Think for yourself, go check your online account with B of A.  If you got a call from this number you likely have a hold on your card for potentially fraudulent charges.  It is an actual B of A fraud line number

Received the call from 800 427 2449 and let it go to v/m. Confirmed just now that it was a legit call for Bank of America Fraud Dept. Just call the number on the bank of your credit card. I also verified with Bank of America that the 1 855 255 0613 number that was left on my v/m this morning was in fact for their fraud department.

Received this call after getting a few text messages concerning "suspicious" activity on my card from BOA. The number is indeed listed on the BankofAmerica website: https://www.bankofamerica.com/online-banking/service-agreement.go

However, I just confirmed the suspicious charges after calling the number on the back of my card (800-421-2110), so I thought the 2nd call was a little weird.

I called back to see what the problem was. Got someone claiming to be in Texas, and I gave them the cc #. They then asked for my DL# to verify my identity. I hung up after that.

They said someone tried to charge on my credit card and I should call them back. I was vigilant and instead called the customer
service in back of my credit card and they informed me that call was fraud. DON'T call them back and give them any information about your credit card! I put them on the reject list!

My call said they were from Fidelity.  When I went online to check my account I was locked out.  They may have gotten my user name and tried the 3 or 4 times it takes to lock account. When I called the number they asked for my credit card number.  When I refused they hung up on me.  Took an hour on the phone with Fidelity to get me unlocked and to confirm it was a scam.  Unsolicited calls or followup callbacks from institutions do not ask for your card number.

I work for BofA and this is our fraud department. We will never ask for any information when calling out to you. However we do encourage our customers, if uncomfortable with the call to use the number on the back of the card to be connected with our department.

BOA is one of my financial institutions, but they do not even have this number to call me as it is a business number that banks elsewhere.  I believe those who say it is "real" should check their  bank accounts as I have NO bank account with BOA using the number they called so it must be a scam and I hate to think they gave private information to a scammer.

I see on this website that people are saying it is B of A.    I do have a Visa through them and I have had that card shut down 4 times due to fraud.   This company always leaves a voicemail.  Also, after receiving a voicmail, I can sign on to my account online and there is usually a notification right after I sign in to verify charges.   I got a call today on my cell phone from this number.  No voicemail and no notification on my account so far.   Just not sure what this is about then.  Can't be a fraud alert?  hmmmm

I have had my B of A Visa shut down 4 times in the last 2 years due to fraud.   They ALWAYS leave a voicemail.  Even my regular debit card through my credit union will leave a voicemail to call them back.  When 800-427-2449 called, they left no voicemail at all.  I also signed on to my online B of A Visa account and there wasn't any fraud notification there either, which they always do as well.   Hard to say what this is about then.

Received 4 calls on 5/2/16 at around 7 PM within minutes of each other. CID said "Bank of America". Read the posts here, then logged on to BA website and noticed I only had $30 balance on my CC. Checked my FIA card on line and it said the account was frozen due to unusual charges. Called the number on the back of my FIA card (it took a long time to get through) and they asked me to verify a long series of charges ( they rep were legit). Only they could have known the details of a dozen or so charges.

The background music and recorded prompts we're exactly the same as the BA number. I asked why I got calls from BA and they apologized and said FIA handles BA cards as well as FIA cards for suspicious charges. I was never asked for anything but the last four numbers of my CC and the expiration date to verify that I had the card in my possession.

this was a valid call alerting me to fraudulent activity on my American Express credit card.  I chose to call the number on the back of my card instead of the 800 number they gave me (along with a 6 digit verification code).  My credit card had been used outside of the U.S.
