- Sally replies to Phillip| 4 repliesIt is NOT safe!!!
The scammer is using BofA's number and it is a TOTAL scam!! Do NOT give them ANY numbers or you will be scammer out of your money! They call with blocked numbers and when I refused to answer after they tried with the 800 432-1000 #, they even called with my OWN CELL number! This is a VERY sophisticated operation and BofA security is working on trying to stop this scam, but when people get online (like you have done) and say this is legitimate, then the scammers will keep operating! - Solomon replies to CyberWizYou are NUTS! It is NOT BofA....

This was a real call not a scam since it was regarding my BBB complaint.

- B of A customerThis number showed up in the caller ID, and I didn't recognize it, so I didn't answer. The person left a voicemail message saying it was Bank of America responding to my application for a checking account. I had applied for a checking account with them the day before when they were closed. I went to the Bank of America site, and saw this number is the number to call for customer service. I called back and opened my account with them over the phone. I've been using the account. All is well. I arrived at this site by looking the number up on the internet, because I saw it on my phone statement and forgot who it was. It turns out phone numbers are listed on the statement instead of saved names for numbers whenever the call was received instead of made by me.

- autumn| 1 replyYES IT WAS A SCAM.. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT FALL FOR THEIR B***S***. All "Ashely Johnson" will ask for is ur last 4 to verify who u are and for ur account and routing number to traqnsfer the "grant" to ur account. Thne at the end of the call she will say "my supervisor will call u to do the transfer. Thats when "Celia Miller" comes in she calls you up from 847-305-2055 saying that they will have to split the $50,000 up due to ur "credit" by sending $8,000 thru western union and the rest to ur account....then when u go to "pick it up from western union" they say that they are actually sending $8,330 becuz they need u to FIRST send $330 to india for a "relief fund" to show that it is indeed tax free money or sumn like that but that it is refundable hence y they are sending $8,330....now i called several times asking different questons from different angles to make sure they were not a scam they say everyhitng they need to to make u beleive it is not.....i even went as far and had my fiancee get on the phone and tlak to them...then i said i had my banker on the line wanting to also ask questions to make sure it was not a scam. then next thing u know "HER BANKER Roy Caster" from "bank of america" 1800-432-1000 calls you to verify what celia and ashley had said making it alllll seem legit....so even after we knew it was a scam we sent the $330 JUST TO SEE....Celia remained on the line thru the entire process of sending the money getting the reference number to claim the money etc. She then said her banker would be calling me immediately to do the transfer.. WHICH HE DID he called me immediately he stated that he had other people in front of me he was doing the transfer hed call me in 25-45 mins WHICH HE DID....then he said it wouldnt be til 8am that he could do the transfer....8am next morning NOTHING.....i called celia she had me blocked where it sent me straight to voicemail, i thne called the 800 number back for bank of america got the run around but finally got thru to someone to look in the system to find that THERE IS NO ROY CASTER employed with B.O.A and that they are aware that someone is impersonating their company and doing scams. Basically he used technology to make the B.O.A number come up on caller id to hide his number....so then i called Ashley Johnson back since she was the original caller ensuring me that it was not a scam i told her i deserved an explanation since she was so gun ho that it was legit and that i knew her numbers and business adresses that she gave me were not legit she said OK?...then said shed have her supervisor call me and hung up i called back STRAIGHT TO VOICEMAIL she had blocked my number...SO ive had to file a police report call my banker have him redeirect my accounts to a new account and redirect my direct deposit and also have to call all 3 credit bureaus to put an Alert on my credit so if any actions pop up i am notified....PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!!! i am in no postion to have wasted $330 and i know there are many otehr vulnerable people out there that WILL fall for it...i just hope they google the numbers and find this before they do anyhting stupid....the address they gave me if u wanna google map it it comes up as a construction site in illinois....33 s arlington heights rd Arlington Heights illinois 60005

- suspious| 1 replyI got a call today from this number, "number blocked" my phone said, raised a flag, guy said he was from the BofA fraud department, a very low quality connection second flag, he was asking me questions and wanted my current BofA acct number. I refused to give it to him, since I have had a ton of bad charges on my last 3 accts. I told him i would research him! I googled this phone number and called the number on my card, the fraud dept at bOf A did call me today... So it looks like it was legit.. Beware though, there are some very good scammers out there.

- Bob of America| 1 replyIm confused & disappointed. There seems to be a scam involving phising and/or people using a spoof card to alter the caller ID to come up as the phone number in question that we are gathered here for.
This phone number is indeed a real customer service phone number for Bank of America. The real issue at hand is whether people are using spoof cards to alter their information that would populate on the individuals phone that is receiving the call. As far as the email, if it is suspicious, leave it alone for the time being, do not click any links and immediately call the 800-432-1000 number and report the suspicious email. I also say leave it alone for the time being because if you can help catch the individual(s) who are allegedly sending phising emails, it may be beneficial for Bank of America's Corporate Security and Privacy Office to track and punish alleged perpetrators.
But for anyone with a BoA account, this is the phone number on the back of Debit cards. If you have an account, and they are calling you and saying there's something wrong, just simply hang up and call the phone number directly and speak to a representative to find out for sure. Do not just ignore a potentially serious issue with your account.
You should NEVER conduct any business, especially that of finances, and especially personal finances, over email, even if it was legit.
This is a real BoA phone number. If you're unsure whether someone at BoA really needs to get in touch with you, just call directly and ask to speak with a representative, or keep hitting Zero on your phone to get through the menu quicker and get to a representative. To completely ignore this is irresponsible.
If you got an email, call directly and inquire about your account.
If you got a phone call, hang up and call this customer service number directly and inquire about your account.
If you don't have an account and received either a phone call or email, call this number directly and a representative will transfer you to their Corporate Security and/or Privacy Office. Instead of taking the time to complain on a website, why don't you take the time to provide some information to the company that's being a victim of corporate identity theft - a company that also happens to be one of the largest financial institutions in the world, thus has potential repercussions that could impact a lot more people than just yourself - so they can catch the individual(s) trying to scam people and assist these companies to create safeguards that can proactively deter such scammers in the future.
Paul Roseberry - The callback number provided is a NYC cellphone, and looks like more specifically from Brooklyn. I do not foresee any BoA representatives providing a cell phone number to call them back. Please call the 800-432-1000 number, keep hitting zero until you get an operator and let them know exactly what you posted in this forum. If Stacey Bowman indeed needs to be reached, the real representatives can make a note that it seems you have her old phone number, especially if you recently changed cell phone numbers, or added a line, etc. They can update her contact information and stop harassing you for business that involves her. However, I would also make sure to provide the real representative information about the person who had been calling you, especially the number they left. Make sure to comment that it is highly suspicious for an individual to leave a cell phone number to return the phone call of a Fortune 100 company.
People like Sally who replied to Philip are paranoid idiots. If you have BoA, look on the back of your debit card. If you don't believe me, here's a real BoA website listing this phone number as the Customer Service number for Debit accounts:
http://investor.bankofamerica.com/phoenix.zht ... bid=Qhto3HhrZSY
You can also see that this is the same phone number listed on the official BoA website in the Branch Locator section. For some reason, BoA must be using this scammer phone number as the official contact number for every single branch! Or, as I've said, this is a legit customer service number specific to debit/checking accounts. Thank you Sally for utilizing ZERO facts in your paranoid delusional post since everyone is out to get you b/c I'm sure you're super rich and have so many assets and liquidity that these highly sophistication mental projections that exist in your mind are out to get you...

Stop posting fake information or factless information. If you believe you have received a suspicious phone number and/or email, CALL THIS NUMBER DIRECTLY AND SHARE THE POTENTIAL SCAM ACTIVITY TO A REAL BANK OF AMERICA ASSOCIATE WHO CAN ACTUALLY HELP PUT AN END TO ANY POTENTIAL SCAMS ORIGINATING FROM PHISING EMAILS AND/OR PEOPLE UTILIZING BANK OF AMERICA'S REAL DEBIT/CREDIT CUSTOMER SERVICE PHONE NUMBER VIA SPOOF CARD OR ANY OTHER OF THE HUNDREDS OF CARD/PROGRAMS THAT ALLOW YOU TO ALTER/EDIT WHAT POPULATES IN THE CALLER ID OF THE PERSON YOU ARE CALLING.
This is actually not that sophisticated. And if you have half a brain, you can actually thwart any potential security breach by being smart and taking the CORRECT method of action after receiving any legitimate attempts at a privacy security breach.
Knowledge is Power Only When it Guides Action.- Caller: Bank Of America
- Bob of America replies to suspiousIt is very easy to find the correct phone number on the website, hang up on whoever you are talking to and actively calling the company directly and letting them know you received a suspicious fraud call from the company and would like to verify if it was a potential scam or a legit threat.
I'm glad you did some of your homework, unlike most people. - mikeIt wasn't a scammer. I had a issue with online banking. BofA sent a ticket to their support team for me and that was the number they used to call me. However I do see aliens in my sleep
- Caller: BofA
- mike's a dork.| 1 replyscammers use a special app to change caller identification. They can type in any number they want- bofa's, your mom's, chuck e cheeses...any number. then when you get the call, the fake number shows up. Its not that hard to grasp.
So, some people get a call from the scammers. It's not legit.
HOWEVER, some people like mike get a call from BofA and obviously it was legit.
But Not Everyone is getting the same caller.
some of you really fail logic.
1-800-432-1000 is a "compromised" number- which means you will never know from this website whether the person calling is legitimate or not. Your best bet is to call them back, not look around here to see if your call is legit or not.- Caller: scammer or legit, who can tell??
