As already stated, it is a legit Chase Fraud #. They will not ask for your entire card #, only a part of it and some security questions. It is legit

    unwanted call
I received a call that was supposed to be from Chase fraud division asking to confirm purchases.  The last four digits of the card they gave me was NOT a credit card I have.  I called the Chase number on the back of my card and they confirmed it was NOT a card I have or that any fraud division activity was being initiated on my account.

Received a call from this number at work. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. Looked up the number and found this site. I do have a card w/ Chase. I called the customer service number on the back of the card. They were just verifying a recent (and valid) change of address and some recent (and valid) charges.

So in my case, they were just doing their job.

If fraud report numbers call, always ask what the problem is (if you answer the phone) and then call back the customer service number yourself.

I received a call from this number, and since I couldn't find it listed on the Chase website I called the phone number on the back of my credit card.  They confirmed that the call *was* legitimate, including giving me the exact time the phonecall was made.

So yes - this number is legitimate.  But anytime you're not sure, you're *always* safe calling the number on the back of your credit card.

I went thru the same routine, but now have second thoughts.  At first, they sound genuine, asked for many personal info to validate.  However, now, I think anyone else (bogus people) could have done the same schtick to steal info.  They asked for birthdate, validate entire account nbr, then finally get your home address (to cancel current card and mail replacement one one).  With such info, any half-hearted thief could have enough incentive to start stealing.  Next time, I would be more vigilant, and ask them to verify what was charged in my last bill, etc..., i.e to prove themselves first.  Their details about attempted charges now seem lame, such as 2 transactions for $2 each.  Anyone who really is fraudulent would have gone for the max possible, at the first attempt, right?  Caveat emptor...  Live, let live and LEARN!

This is a legitimate call. I never answer 1-800 calls so I called the customer service number on the back of my Chase card, went through the menu and verified a recent charge.  I was not asked for any information other than did I make the purchase.

Thank You Chase For Fraud Alerts

This was a voice mail left on my phone from fraud at Chase Credit Card Services.  I called the number on my credit card and it was indeed the fraud department from Chase calling within minutes of what I then discovered was a fraudulent charge.  Therefore this number was a solid call from Chase.

They have called me tree times today. After I googled this number, I've called them myself. They verified me and told me about charges attempted to my account today, total up to ~ $1500.00 from two places, I've never dealt with. When I told them: "Who are those?" and that I last time used this card about a year ago and not even nearly to the amount attempted to be charged, they closed this account ant told me, that I am not liable to these charges (which, btw, were declined at the time of attempt) and that they will issue the replacement card on this account with the different number. So far, so good, Thank them!

A follow up. I was just talking to my sister. She signed up for Google a business and a few days was charged again for something not even remotely connected to google. However last month I signed up for Google business and Monday the charges showed up.

This is NOT a legit Chase phone number!! I just got off the phone with
Chase and they told me this is NOT one of their numbers.  This is a SCAM.  Those involved in the scam post on sites like this claiming it's legit in order to get you to call the number with your information. DO NOT DO IT!

THIS IS NOT NOT NOT a legitimate Chase number. I called the real Chase number and talked to Fraud department and they checked this number and told me this is not Chase number and advised me not to call back or give out any info.

They called 8 times, on the phone numbers I never ever used for any credit card. If fact they are not listed and are my private business and cell phone. I never used these numbers in my profile for any credit card. The only time they left a message, they did not mention my name, but some weird name. Then the other 7 calles, when I picked up the phone, they hung up. They just try to see if they have a live person and hoping that you call the back and through Caller ID get your legitimate name, then call again and get all your personal and credit card numbers. THESE GUYS ARE CROOKS and I highly suspect that they are the ones who are posting that is this legitimate number. Do Not Call Them.
Call teh real Chase number on the back of your card and through them talk to fraud department.
Don't be a victim to this SCAM. !!

    Loving Chase Fraud Alerts
I received a call from this number two days ago but didn't answer it because I didn't recognize the number. I got three more calls yesterday from the same number. When I checked my voice mail it was an automated message saying that it was Chase and that there was suspected fraudulent usage of my card and to call 1-800-454-9078 back to speak to the fraud department.

I'm always suspicious of calls like this, so I opted not to call back the number. Instead I called the number on the back of my card, punched in the usual verification info and I was immediately greeted with a message about verifying possible fraudlent charges that were made to my card. There were three charges totaling ~$600 on a day that I hadn't used my card at all. So, at the menu, I hit the option for unknown charges (3 I think) and was imediately transfered to a customer service rep. After talking to the rep for a minute or so he said that he was transferring me to the Fraud Department.

After being transferred, the guy that I was talking to told me where the charges were coming from, the amounts, and when the charges were made. After going through the unknown charges the guy immediately cancelled my card and told me that I would be getting a new card in the mail within five business days, and that I would be getting some paperwork to fill out about the fraudelent charges. He also told me that I wouldn't be responsible for the charges and that I wouldn't see them on my next bill. I was also told that it would be a good idea to double-check my next bill for other fraudlent charges.

So, now I'm grateful for Fraud Alerts. I did however forgot to ask the reps if it was a legitimate number or not. People should be cautious though and just call the number on the back of your card instead.

I received a call from this # & was told it was the fraud dept for Chase MC.
Sure enough, it really was.  And, some pig out there in cyberspace had stolen my cc # & tried to buy crap on the internet with it.
    Good thing they caught this!

What a terrible way to contact a customer about fraud.
They left a message for me so I called and with no identification whatsover thier automated system was asking for my entire credit card number.
I am thinking, ok, which one, since your system doesn't identify itself.
So I waited for a rep and inquired what company it was.
She imedeatly asked me for my credit card number!
So i politely told her I would love to comply but that she needed to at least tell me what company she was so I could tell her the right number.
She replied chase , so I hung up and called the number on the back of the card.
It was legit, but where is the liability with the amount of stupid people out there who are probably calling back like I did and just guessing as to the card and putting credit card numbers that are not chase cards?

    ???
Correct last 4 digits on another card, but no chase card with that last 4 digits.  When I called the number given the first thing they ask for is the entire credit card number...I don't trust any company that needs that up front.

Smells like someone from them is fishing for one of my other credit card numbers.  I'll wait till spouse get's home and decide whether we'll call the sheriff's office.  Good luck all.

Hi, my husband came on here because he got a call from this number.  He recognized the last 4 digits of a credit card that we have, but it wasn't a Chase card.  So he didn't tell them anything.

BUT, Chase recently bought out Washington Mutual (WaMu).  Our VISA card with those last 4 digits was... ta da!  Our WaMu card!  So it was a real call, he just didn't recognize it because we didn't (to his knowledge) have a CHASE card.  However, we actually did, it just said WaMu on the front, LOL.  So in short, it was legit!

Regardless, you should always be careful about these calls, and if you are unsure, just call the toll-free number on the back of your card and ask THEM for the number to their fraud department.
