They call often let it ring once then hang up. While the number was on my screen I tapped the three little dots on the upper right hand side where a drop down menu appeared. I selected "reject this number". They also call on other similar numbers I will eventually get them all rejected. This is a collection company that buys very old accounts. Mine deb5s are all paid off or reconciled with a payoff agreement. However if you pay a collector they do not notify the credit bureaus. Apparently you have to do that yourself. In Kansas you do not have to pay a collection agency you can pay directly to the people you owe. If I ever get behind on a bill I will only pay the original company owe.

ERC (phone # 8006708138) keeps calling saying that I owe money to a Debt Collector.  No I don't and I want these calls to stop!

This anonymous caller has been calling several times a day but every time I picked up the phone no one was there to answer. I tried to call back but there was only a prerecorded message asking you to pay by following the prompt. Obviously, this is a scam line.

These people have been calling for months, looking for the previous owner of my cell number.  Have three documented calls to tell them to stop, have email from them saying they will.  Called Christmas Eve 8:30 a m...make them STOP

First, no one here can make them stop.  The law has given you the ability to do that.  Your first mistake is verbally telling them to stop, your second mistake is dealing with e mail which is not a legal form of communication in the eyes of the law.  You need to send them a certified, return receipt letter by US mail telling them that they are calling the wrong number.  All the information you need to know is on the previous page of this thread.  Including who to report them to.  Read those posts carefully and learn what you need to know to prevent yourself from becoming a victim of the crime these criminals are perpetrating.

how to remove your number without relying on a worthless list and have some fun while doing it: .. make up a believable business name .. like if you're in Oklahoma .. just answer "Red Clay, are you calling for load delivery or excavation" .. then to whatever caller says, just answer, "You've reached Red Clay. We deliver red clay by the load or we excavate red clay. How can I help you." If they persist asking to speak to a name, just tell them "Can't take or connect personal calls; leave your company and your name and number and who you want to talk to and I'll put it on the call board for you and if that person works here then maybe they'll call you back, so what's your name?" ..  Usually they will just say sorry wrong number .. they still may call back a few times but if you persist with your dialog they will knock you off their predictive dialing computer .. make the name of your company something your state is known for, like in Minnesota you could just answer, "Lakes" and you can be a landfill company or an excavation company .. in Texas you could just answer, "B O T .. Big Ol' Texas" and you can be a big oil rig moving company .. etc .. use your imagination and make it fun!! .. has worked terrifically for us to get us off most lists of naggers etc .. HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!
