- booger45They never leave a message when it goes to voicemail. I called the number and had the option to take my number off their list. The company's name is ERC. Yet another bill collection company
- Caller: ERC
- ericacall from a collection agency named 'ERC'. They had the wrong number and took me off of their call list.

- AnnaThis number calls me every morning but hangs up before my phone ever rings... I see my phone light up and the number flash across my screen but then my phone beeps and says, "Missed Call"... it's like they want me to call them back.
I would NEVER call back. My brother is going through that right now, it's called phone spoofing. Now my brother gets hundreds of phone calls a day of people who are angry at him for calling them... but my brother never called any of them. It rings his phone the same time it calls these people. And if my brother picks up his phone during these calls, they'll have more of his information and be able to rob him of thouusands of dollars! So please, don't answer numbers you don't know, if they need to talk to you then they can leave a voicemail, do not call them back especially if they don't leave a voicemail, and don't "unsubscribe" because you may be giving them the info they need to screw you over!! - JimSame method of calling - rang once, didn't leave a message.
Called the number back: ERC Debt Collecting Firm.
Options:
#1 - May a debt payment.
#2 - Pay debt in full.
#3 - Report a wrong number.
#4 - Speak with a rep.
Dialed #4 and spoke with Matt. Matt was polite, and after verifying my name agreed that I wasn't on their list and told me my number would be removed.- Caller: ERC
- Call type: Debt collector
- John replies to Courtney| 1 replyIf you are like me, the previous "owner" of the phone number was apparently a deadbeat and ERC has tried to collect. I've twice explained to ERC agents that I'm not Mr. Ackerman, but I still get single-ring calls on a regular basis, despite going thru the "remove this number" drill.
- Or the previous.. replies to John..."owner" didn't owe any money, but they were harassing him anyway. Just because someone says you owe a debt doesn't make it so....
- YvonneThey just keep calling me and when I answer they hang up. 1-800-459-6901
- Amy replies to Flagrante DelictoThey can all go to hell
- not falling for it| 1 replyThey've been calling between twice and nine times a day for the past two weeks. Most of the time there is no one on the other end. The one time someone talked, he kept threatening to send me to jail. Despite the fact he had the wrong name and this has only been my phone number for a while. Have no idea who Sylvia is. Offered to keep me out of jail if I went to buy a prepaid card at Walmart and called back with the number on the card. Complete scammers.

- CWG40 replies to not falling for itJust because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a DIME until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.
If they are bothering you,
Report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening criminal process to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act)
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them. - jason replies to keeferI don't answer these numbers, as they are usually wrong numbers or scammers. No message left, so obviously one of tho
- CheyenneThis number called me at 8 am. No voicemail was left. I added this number to reject call list. I have a strict rule - if you call me from unknown number and you don't leave a message- your number goes straight to hell.
- CathyCollections agency calling for the wrong person. They asked to confirm an address...pointed out I wouldn't be able to confirm the address of someone I don't know. Asked to speak with the person again...pointed out I don't know who they're talking about. They said they would take my number out of the system. We'll see.

- AZI've had this new number for 3 days and continually get calls from this 800#. I have Verizon so I can easily block the number.

- Jim A| 2 repliesDream on.
the collections business is alive and well - and they could care less if their telephone calls bother us. They could care less if we are on the do-not-call list and they could care less if what they are doing is illegal. They hire losers who cannot get a job anywhere else, and they are all bottom-feeders. They buy bad debts, cheap, and hire their employees on commission only. They will continue to operate as long as there is bad debt, i.e., indefinately.
The only way to stop them is to block them, and you cannot rely on the telephone companies to do that.- Caller: IDIOTS
- BigA replies to Jim AThe DNC does not cover debt collector and simply can't due to the nature of the calls. "The only way to stop them is to block them" No the only way to stop them is to use the laws to your advantage. Certified, return receipt letters work miracles. And when they don't, that is when you go out and get a consumer lawyer and sue them. Now here is everything you need to know when dealing with this or any other debt collector, including where to report them:

I have to wonder why allegedly “legitimate” companies have to have so many numbers to call people.
Web page with alleged contact info: http://www.erccollections.com/contactus.htm
LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/company/enhanced-recovery-company-llc
BBB page listing them as an accredited business with a B rating?? Even though they have 914 complaints and 19 negative reviews: http://www.bbb.org/north-east-florida/busines ... le-fl-16000495/

So, the best things to do are to read the following, and make complaints at the provided links. Also, any communication with these criminals should be by certified, return receipt US mail only:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
