Person who had our (new to us 2 years ago) number 4 years ago was who they were calling - I called back later (the message did leave a name and code when I picked up the phone)
Called them, Got an automated remove number if wrong, answering machine, then was sent immediately to a live operator, they took info (phone number only), said they would not call again. (Automated system on their end Identified company as ERC)
I have gotten calls for the previous owner of our number before, not just collection agencies, so I knew the name- but that is about all I know about them. I hope the calls stop again (2 so far this week) They did call a few times about a year ago - same thing.

I keep getting this call, started about a week a go, and keeps asking for a Leah Mack?? . . . And it won't stop!!!! . . . It's interupting with my job!! . . Please make it stop!!

Called my cell @4 pm on 12/27/2010, dead air.  Sent email to info@erccollections.com
asking them to desist.

I get a call from these guys at least once a week, maybe twice, from ERC (a collection agency) asking for some unknown guy, then saying that "if this is not you please disregard and delete this message now."  Then after a couple of seconds it starts up again saying to call and give a reference number.  I called once to tell them to quit calling, and they took my number off their list...  Wishful thinking...  After two months it started up again, same number asking for the same guy.

...been getting these calls for months now- perhaps to the 1st third of 2010. Recorded voice (or as my Japanese spouse would say "computer voice") says "This call is for Matilda Alvarado......if you are not Matilda Alvarado, hang up now." Then it left the 800-4968916 number and a reference file number- .

I am convinced this is a baiting method of contacting someone that they've not been able to get through possibly other methods (postal mail? Armed thugs at the door). If you go to the ERC or "Enhanced Recovery Corporation" website they make it look like everything they are doing is above board, rainbows and lollipops replete with Better Business Bureau awards. BFD. I seriously doubt baiting is legal but hey! Business practices now days are probably no different than those of the GOP. I just can't imagine some poor schlub exiting school with an MDA in his back pocket seeing their website and saying "Wow! I want a career with THEM!" Effing clowns.

Seem to ignore my emails.  Do get a return receipt though.  I just signed up with a law firm that wants

ERC called my cell @ 7:58 AM on 01/20/2011 using a spoofed number 315 337 0037, identified themselves
in the voicemail they left.

this is an obvious scam, i called them to verify the reference number they gave me and once i got into their online system i could see plain as day that the debt they were calling to collect was non-existant. it said i owe AT&T money when i have never had any dealings with AT&T at all so my next step with them is to contact AT&T and inform them that someone is making false accusations about debts that are not even owed. i suggest if these con artists cal you refuse to give them any personal information and demand the reference number or demand to know who is looking for a debt if it sounds like a con it most likely is if you ever had dealings with AT&T contact them first and find out if they have sent you to a collection agency for anything. if these people tell you they are a pre collection office and paying them will protect your credit rating don't buy it, no such thing exists and once your account goes to collections the mark on your credit is already there only clearing the debt will help your credit.

this is a debt collector doing his unsavory thing. dont answer 800,866,877 calls and you will almost always be better off NOT knowing who they are or what they want. You can bet they don't want to do YOU any favors.

No one answers when I pick up these calls.
