Explain to me, MR. KNOW IT ALL- if we have no credit cards, how someone can be calling us about that?

The ONLY debt we have at this moment is a student loan, which is being paid off. It is not behind on payments. Our cars are paid off. Our medical bills are paid off. No credit card debt. No overdraft fees. Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

You are the [***] loser and are just pissed off no one is falling for your scam. If you will not identify who the 'client' is that you are calling for to collect money, no one should send a cent to you. Scammer. Con artist. Manipulator. Thief. Liar. That's what you are.

This number has now called us twice in the past week, asking for my husband. He has not been at home either time, so I am the one that has got to deal with it.

The person calls herself "Sandy Mills". She asked to speak to Joshua. I told her he was not at home and could I please take a message. She told me she could not leave me any information because I was not who she wanted to talk to. Then she wanted to know when a better time would be to reach him. I was starting to get suspicious about this, because professional people actually identify themselves, especially if it really is important. I told her a better time to get ahold of him would be when he wasn't at work. So she wanted to know when that would be. I told her, "I'm sorry, I cannot provide that information to someone who will not tell me who she is or who she is representing."

She called again this morning. The phone call went like this, "This phone call will be recorded. I am Sandy Mills. May I speak to Joshua  - - -". "No. He's not here." Click.

So to all you morons who are saying that if you just pay your bills, you won't have bill collectors come after you- this is not how professional, non scam artist bill collectors act. They tell you who they are. If they cannot get ahold of the person they are trying to collect a debt from, they leave contact information. They do not leave threatening messages- they can't, that's illegal. They don't call up your families and friends and leave notes on neighbors doors. And I know what debt my husband and I have- the answer is NONE. We don't have a credit card. If we can't afford it now, we certainly aren't going to be able to afford the added interest to the item we would purchase, so no credit cards. Our cars are paid off and have been for over a year. We have no outstanding bills. So there is no reason why a debt collector would be coming after us, unless that person was a scam artist. Gasp- they do exist and they do go after people. Have you people not been paying attention to how many credit agencies and bank accounts have been hacked? I cannot believe some of these comments, telling people to just pay their bills, and then you won't get these phone calls. Guess what? There are jerks out there that have figured out there are some people out there that if you are threatening and menacing to them enough, they'll send you money, thinking you are totally legit.

"Credit Services" is not legit. Not even according to the Better Business Bureau. So for those of you who are pissed off they are calling you- you have every right to be. Those of you who have nothing more to say than 'pay your bills'- hope they start calling you instead and let's see how quickly you change your tune.

Shill B Gone replies to Nicole
While your posts have good information I am curious as to why you are replying to a post from nine (9) years ago.  One thing to note is that one reply was made a few days later which is reasonable.  I highly doubt that Collector will even bother coming back to reply to your post.  In the unlikely event he or she does that will leave no doubt that they are a shill.  Given the context and mentality of their post it is very likely they are a shill beyond a shadow of a doubt.

You imply as much, but a question remains: Does your husband answer to the name "Joshua"? The answer makes a great difference in your available options.

Whether it's "yes" or "no", the agent "Sandy Mills" has yet to break any rules. Her first priority was to protect the privacy of the alleged debtor, presumably Jordan. She said all that the FDCPA requires and allowed her. You never got a correct business name because you did not request one. You never got a call purpose because your identity and relationship to the alleged debtor are unknown. If you're married to the guy they want, you can speak freely on his behalf. Mills wasn't so informed, and did the right thing by ending at the impasse. I think she even hinted at how you could "represent" the man.

At the second call she was still trying to comply with the law by jumping off the moment she recognized your voice. The FDCPA tells her not to keep pestering the same person without a very good reason. Meanwhile, it's been established that yours is a correct and valid phone number for Jordan. No one has told the collectors what days or times are inconvenient for Jordan, or to stop calling altogether. Until those little provisions of the law are invoked, you can expect more calls and they will be legally placed.

The subject agency will probably find other ways to break the law, and is already on thin ice if chasing invalid debt. But we've had this same consumer law almost four decades. It's about time people realize that the collection industry is uniquely burdened by its secrecy mandate. If you want something to fume at, look for behavior which actually denies rather than protects your rights. If you want fewer headaches, use the law to your advantage.

This number somehow found my cellphone number looking for my parents. Then started asking for my parents personal information. Harassment!!!!

I don't think this consists of harassment. It sounds like they had a number listed that might have been your parents. Simply explaining the situation and informing them of a wrong number would be the adult thing to do and you wouldn't receive any more calls.
Harassment is defined simple as aggressive pressure or intimidation. Also repetitive. I don't believe this qualifies as harassment. As the saying goes - you can't have the cake and eat it also.

Woman, with very poor English and very hard to understand, said call was being recorded, asked for someone I know.  Asked for voice mail.  I said no.  She said she would call back, I told her not to and she started yelling and talking over me and hung up.

You make no sense. First learn to spell - (recognized) the number, but the number has never called you before??? So you blocked it? What? How about you answer and just say wrong number if it is a wrong number. Probably too much work for you. Instead you rather bash people and companies.

The post says they have blocked other numbers from them. How do they know its them? Can they tell the future? Will the CUBS win the World Series again?  What a waste of time?

I just got a call from this number - this thread is so old and everyone is arguing back and forth I cannot tell who the heck the caller really is?  People are saying it is a bill collector named Client Services Incorporated?  Who are they a collector for?  What is it really about?
