It is a SCAM, trying to get you to record your voice saying "yes" so they can use it to rob you blind.  Don't answer, just block the number.

Got call.today from this #. When I answered, they hung up. Later, called # after seeing comments regarding it.  It IS toll free directory assistance.  That was greeting when THEY answered.  Hung up on them and did not let them (recording, perhaps) finish their spiel.

Woman advised that she was from Medic Alert & that I qualified for a free Medic Alert device with the service being $30.00 a month. Unfortunately, I gave her my bank info so it could be directly drawn each month. When I asked for her phoneme, she gave me 1-800-555-1212 I know is a scam no. Unfortunately, I realized it too late due to issues I was dealing with at the time. Otherwise I would have been 100% alert to this.  I called by banking institution & Lifelock & informed them. Also made a report with the FTC but nothing can be done unless something happens. I also have Fraud Alerts set up on my accounts.

I called a number but this person came on and said that number is not working and for my inconvenience (the company I called) they are giving me a free 100.00 gift card from Walmart. I said I don't do that that you don't get anything free. He said it for my inconvenience. There would only be a $4.95 postage fee and wanted a visa or master card to put it on. Well, I gave in, which usually I don't, I gave the name address etc and Card number. They gave me a confirmation number and this phone number if I wanted to confirm. It is a direct number he said. Well I called my card and told them and I'm getting a new card. I also called the company again that I wanted and got them and they haven't heard of any of this and that the phones were not down. Chalk that up for my stupidity and not following my instinct.

Why would a bank call from a blatantly spoofed phone number?

I was calling a company I have been dealing with and somehow the call went to a number where a female was offering me a free medic alert.  Don't know if I dialed wrong or if somehow the call flipped to the other number.  I did not give out my personal information  but I am a bit nervous that just speaking to them could become a problem for me.

I was also given this number by a scammer. I called the Facebook number, or what used to be Facebook's number and I asked if I had called Facebook and the guy said yes and I explained my problem and he said he would transfer me to tech support. He then proceeded to tell me that I had won $400 but I needed to pay $4.00 p&h. I declined, he persisted, I declined again and he transferred me but told me in case we got disconnected I could call Facebook at 800-555-1212, I stayed on hold for more than a half-hour before I figured out it wasn't Facebook/.

I called my doctors billing office to inquire about a bill and they told me to hold on..while I was holding on i was switched to someone else that said for $4.95 I could get a $100 gift card to WalMart..I thought it was fishy and asked her if it was a scam...Of course she assured me it wasn't..I thought I would see so I did give her my credit card number, which I shouldnt have done but while I was looking up on the interent number she gave me it said it was a scam and I questioned  her about it..she got really rude and hung up...I immediately called the credit card co and they already knew it was a scam...everything is fine now..just beware...I have never done this before and will never do it again....
