    Frustrated Librarian
A lady with 800-555-1212 just called me at work. I work at a library at a local university and she asked me if I worked in the American Express office.  I told her she had reached a university library she said "Oh well guess I will call back later."

That made no sense but she sounded stoned.

I knew it was the Directory Assistance number so I picked it up.  Definitely an offshore call center asking about what credit cards I accepted.  I told them I didn't accept cards and they hung up.

This number called me and asked if I was "Company such and such"  I said "Yes," thinking it was someone going to hire my services.  He said "Do you take American Express?"  I said "No."  He then asked, 'Do you take any credit cards?"  I said, "No."  So he then said, "Thank you," and hung up on me.  Because of this I did a search on the caller ID number and found this site.  Just thought I'd put in my experience for others to see.

I received a call from this number after I received the scam call from "Publishers Weekly," (612-216-4361) asking me "whether I wanted to stay with a $45 a month magazine rate or go with a lower rate." I don't pay a monthly rate for magazines and have found out this is a scam.  One minute later, the 800 number called me and said "We've been receiving complaints from our customers.  Can I help you?" I started talking but they hung up on me.  It seems they may have called back to verify my number for their scam.

Have received many calls from this magazine publishing company over the past few months. They are trying to "update" my credit card info and asked if I remember my expiration date and can verify my card number, I told the lady repeatedly that I was NOT going to provide that over the phone and she keep trying to control the conversation. She asked my address and if I can firm I am who I say I am and I said NO and she said, "okay, I will REPORT that then, thank you". And she said everything is being recorded for federal purposes. Trying to screw with my head because I clearly answered the phone with, "hello, this is (my name) can I help you?". DO NOT TELL THEM ANYTHING!!! SCAM!

Did not leave any messages when called. When i did pick up, the person name was Manuel smith, but did not want to say what company they were from. This smith person said that something about renewing my magazine subscription. This smith person then said that if our phone connection disconnected that could lead to the magazine subscription being renewed, then right after he said that the phone disconnected and he has not called back since especially after calling for the last few days.

A guy calls me from this number and is always asking me for payment for magazines I never ordered.  I NEVER would order magazines because I have NO time to read!!   Another time the guy asked me if I wanted to extend my magazine subscription because it was about to expire.  I think next time I'll just tell him I'm blind.  Maybe he'll give up then.

I've been getting calls from 18005551212 for a few weeks now (at least twice a day), they were asking for my Brother who passed away in May. I said what i say to all spam calls. That person doesn't live here anymore, please take this number off your call list. It usually works, not with these people.
They were trying to tell me that someone is stealing money from my brothers account at a credit union here in town. All of his accounts were closed out after he passed away.
    Big Scammers!!!!
But they wont stop calling and it's getting ultra annoying!

Recieving unwanted calls from 1-800-555-1212. My incoming digital caller ID posted A T & T, however the number associated with the post was 1-800-555-1212. The caller identified herself/himself as Ashley.
She said "Just wanted to make sure you are happy with my subscription" I said "who is this?, I thought it was A T & T calling", She said "it was  Publishers" and "you signed for automatic renewals for another 5 years" I said "I do not have an account with you" and hung up.

How do I 1.) Report them to the authorities?
                 2.) Stop these calls??
