Definitely American Express. I have all my mail delivered to a mail service. They needed residential address to get card approved. Once they had that and ran the verification my card was approved. They will still be sending card and bills to my mail service. This is Friday and I should get card early Monday morning. The call type  is being left as unknown since none of the values in the drop down list apply.

This number continues to call me stating they are American Express and asking for information regarding my application request (which I did not do). Asking my date of birth, social security information. I looked up the number and it says this is a scam.

Legit call, I received an (an approval) email while on the phone after she said I was approved. They needed to confirm my info as I mistyped my address.

Then there was no need to look up the number now was there?  People look up numbers for two reasons.  The first is because they don't know who called and need more information.  The second is clearly your reason, and that is to do damage control by trying to convince people this really is the credit card company so that they give you the scammer all their personal information.

I applied for an upgraded AMEX card and my application was put on hold because they couldn't verify my new address (my current card is at my home of record since I am Active Duty Military and move every 2-3 years).  I know all of this b/c I received and email immediately following my application asking me to call a 1-888 Number to verify/validate my information.  This call seemed suspicious and I told them I was not going to provide my information to someone just claiming to represent AMEX.  While I believe this to be a valid number, I highly recommend never providing information of the sort they were asking, and always contact them via their legitimate contact numbers found on their website or your card.

I applied for an amex and was approved yesterday. I got a call today from 800 567 1083 and decided to just let it go to voicemail and then google it. No message was left but I see that this message board mentions amex. So I called amex and they said they called to let me know they are sending the card out expedited. So my experience says it was legit. But I still rather call amex directly and not take cold calls.

This may actually be an AnEx number. However, that doesn't mean the caller is actually from AmEx. Scammers frequently spoof legitimate phone numbers in an attempt to convince people their scam is real.

This man is a fraud.  He wanted me to give him personal info.  I refused and he said to check and I did.  I was shocked that he would tell me he's an AMEX express agent. BEWare this is the Holidays and there are lots of scam artists.

I called Amex . They stated this was not Amex calling . It has now been reported to their fraud depot
