- PaulieMy turn - saw the reports here, hit my "blacklist" button by the third ring.
- Caller: TOLL FREE CALL
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Just Me replies to Darryl B.It is also called spoofing. Some collection agencies pretend to be local police or sheriff, when calling and threaten to arrest the person they are calling if they do not pay right away. the technology was developed so companies could show a single call back number whenever their reps called a customer
- CaryI am glad I do not answer numbers I do not know on my cell phone. I look them up on the internet and then if it is like this then I can hit the reject call list on the number and then it does not bother me.
- SQUIDOOReceived a call from this number and Caller ID shows "Toll Free Call". Message on answer machine said "Medicare correspondence department calling about a claim I had sent them and they would call back on the following day. This is a legit number as published on the inside front cover of Medicare & You 2016. But with all the dodgy characters out there you should call it and the customer care person can verify that it was Medicare calling. I suggest if you receive a call from this number a) After business hours, b) Saturday, Sunday, c)Holiday, you give no information until you verify it's a legit call. Good Luck To All
- Caller: MEDICARE
- Call type: Survey
- SQUIDOOAdded bit of information from my post of 07-21-2016. Medicare representative called me back this morning and we did the security verification process which is required by them before we could talk about my billing problem. Informed by them that they have 24/7 service hours. This help number is also listed on the back of your Medicare Card. Hope this helps.

- anonymousReceived a call, no caller ID. Guy with Indian accent said he was "Calling from Medicare" to "give" benefits to me that he said he was calling to give me!
He asked if I was "still receiving Medicare"?
IF he were calling FROM Medicare, don't you'd think he'd know weather I (or someone in my home) was receiving Medicare?
Seems like a phishing call. I asked if I could call back & if he could give me a number to do so.
He said (800)633-4227, which I Googled & it does appear to beba legit number for Medicare.
Very strange, as I've had the same number for many years, and I've gotten a lot of calls for other people. This is a business number they are calling!
I've received calls telling me the IRS is " suing me", yet they had another person's name, & they wanted money NOW! Which I just laughed at; calls from a "collection agency" threatening to have me arrested & all sorts of BS, ALL have had Indian or middle eastern accents!
They usually seem perplexed when I can't quite make out what they are saying at first, and I ask if I can help them.
I had a call telling me that my computer was infected, and they needed to urgently talk to me! I asked the guy "Which computer"? And he didn't know what to say. I asked a few questions anyone from Microsoft would have known (& they don't call people to tell them their computer has been infected anyhow), but I played along to get as much info as O could...
If people call you that you don't know, do NOT give them ANY information about you, nor disinformation... Ask questions & try to get a phone number, address, etc.
Asking for their office address can trip them up (one guy gave me his address in India! That was funny!)
Anyhow, these people are phishing for information to try to get money, family info, etc. about you! Don't tell them ANYTHING, don't even confirm or deny any name they might have!
With as hacked as the computer systems have been in the US, it's my guess that they have information that could be old, but legitimate, so be careful!
My guess is my business number used to belong to an older woman, as a few of these callers have had the same name. The " collection agency" even gave me a SSA number of this person, AND an address! I wish I'd written it down to send a note to the woman, in case she still had the same address!
Some creepy things out there in the either these days!
NEVER give ANYONE any information about yourself! These people are trying to steal money from everyone they call & often times, the police cannot help ypu!, as they don't have even their computers locked down, so you must protect yourself!- Caller: said "Medicare", yet not the case I'm sure!
- ginacalled twice about my correspondence. told them to send a copy to me. the number was correct but medicare never calls. SCAM!!
- ConcernedOne replies to EdgewiserI had the same situation. I Called the Market Place to check their records of calls that were made to me. They confirmed that someone did call me on the same day (they logged it with 20 minutes time difference) and it was in regarding to escalation of an issue which is correct. So it seems legit except that the caller ID shows the above Medicare number. Maybe someone that works for both organizations.
- Kat1-800-633-4227 = 1-800-MEDICARE
They didn't call me – I called them. It is the number given to me by the Social Security office to contact Medicare. IGNORE all messages before this. People seem to be very confused. It is NOT a scam!
To the person that stated a person HAS to be 65 to get Medicare - not true. There are special health
issues that qualify for Medicare under the age of 65. Example: if a person is under the age of 65, and collecting Social Security Disability, they qualify for Medicare.
I hope this information helps all that have been confused regarding this telephone number. - Kat replies to Sportage78132wMEDICARE = Federal program
OBAMA CARE/AFFORDABLE CARE ACT = State program and is specific to each state. Example - In California it is called Covered California.
MEDICADE = A state run program that provides health insurance to low income individuals and families.
It IS possible to qualify for Medicare under the age of 65. Example: If someone collects Social Security Disability, they qualify for Medicare prior to age 65. - MaryEven though the reverse number says it's from Medicare, the voice mail said it was Market Place Advanced Resolution Center, whatever the hell that is. Said something about returning my call. I never called them. Plus, I don't have Medicare. Don't know how they got my cell number. I don't give out to any businesses, just close friends and family. I don't even have it listed on social media, anywhere. Sounds very scammy to me. Sounds like I'll be blocking them.
- Caller: 800-633-4227
- Brenda BCaller from that number claimed to work for Medicare and asked for my Social Security and Medicare account numbers. Stupidly, I responded before thinking. God knows what these folks are up to. But I am contacting Social Security and Medicare to let them know.
- Caller: Caller claimed to be with Medicare
- KenReceived a call from this number today. While I'm not discounting anybody's complaint....it is very possible that this number has been spoofed...the actual number IS a Medicare number (if you compare the numbers to the letter buttons on your phone, (633-4227) it spells "Medicare" (minus the "e"). I'm a retired firefighter who just turned 65 (Medicare age), and this was a call back from Medicare about an issue I was having in signing up. Another good post was from "Sandy" on Jan. 7, 2009. If you read it, she is absolutely correct. With that said...be careful with spoofed numbers. If the callers subject is anything but Medicare related (AND for a good reason for you personally) then beware! I don't know about the rest of you...but I'm getting pretty sick and tired of this constant assault from scammers and telemarketers!! But, again...this number actually is Medicare.
- Caller: Medicare
- william coopersome one keeps calling from this number and when I answer they don't say nothing they just hang up it happens about 10 or 12 times a day
- Caller: ?
- Phillip Ray Howard replies to Lester MaddoxI need to know what I'm covered for?
- KschebThe number that called my dad was actually "unknown" but a guy that told me his name was Mark said he was from U S Health Care and had my dad recorded talking to one of their people previously trying to trick him into saying he agreed for them to send him a back brace and his medicare would pay for it. They managed to get all of his information!!! When I asked for his phone number he gave me 800-633-4227. I did call it and it said U S Health care but I'm certain they are just giving out this company's number. Unless Mark is the new Indian name that was NOT his name.

- Uwe Naurath| 1 replyThey call 6-to-8 times daily and each time. a deferent person, I tell that Barb my wife is 78% disabled, and to take use off there calling list...but don't, this month every other day. I'm her caregiver, and have been for the last almost 9 years come January 2 2018 ... - Caller: Medicare ?
- Call type: Unwanted
- BigA replies to Uwe NaurathOK, so you continually answer the phone? That encourages them to keep calling. You tell them personal information? Again that encourages them to keep calling. I would suggest that you get caller ID, stop answering the calls, and also get a call blocker.
- MJGStill calling - blocked
- rbdCaller said they were from Medicare and could save me money with a supplement. Said "you cannot save me any money" and they hung up. It is some sort of scam.
