Someone called me and said they was with Microsoft and I have errors and problems with my e-mail and then gave me my email address.  I asked what type of problems and she said if I log on to my computer she could show me.  I asked why she couldn't she tell me first---she hung up.   I called the number back 1-800-642-7676 - it answered with Microsoft with options to choose from if I was have problems.

NOT Microsoft - Microsoft nor it's parters would ever call you - unless you call them first and put in a help ticket.  More info on the scam here: http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

I get a call about twice a week, first off I don't have a computer at my home, I use my iPhone or iPad
But they still ask if they can take control of my computer , I tell him once again there is No Computer, he then says " Not even a laptop"  I tell him no , and sir you call about everyone 2 weeks I give you the same answer... nothing is going to change, I ask him a question about Microsoft , he says there a 3 party that works with Microsoft !!!
Do not let these ppl take control of your computer
While they are in suposeably fixing whatever they are installing a program that takes your information, Now you see that is why we have no computer... I called Microsoft and spoke with a person he told me that if you get a call from Microsoft ask questions , like there name is number
Never give your cc # out
Take your chances if you feel safe but pls make sure your not going to get a statement from your bank and life lock that 2,800 was taken from your account and did you do this ?Just pls beware of theses scams.

I got a call from them yesterday and did not pick up the phone because I had added it as "Microsoft Scam"on my caller-id a couple of years ago.  They used to call all the time and would start the conversation saying that they had identified something wrong with our computer.  I figured out at the time that it was some sort of scam because we were hardly using our Windows computer at the time, and they wanted me to allow them to connect remotely.  Since they initiated the call and I didn't, I never went for that.  They kept calling and calling - never taking me off the list despite my repeated requests - until I told them that if they didn't stop I would report them to the Attorney General's Office.  Then they stopped for a long time.  Now they are back again.  If they call again in the next few days I will pick up and tell them the same thing I did then.  And I WILL follow through with the AG's office if they don't stop.  I had company when they called yesterday and didn't want to do that at that moment.

These people are idiots. They called me saying that they are from Microsoft and they have been seeing error messages on my email account and I need to log into my computer immediately so they can fix the issue....funny thing is I don't have a computer right now so I played along and said OK I'm all logged in what's next? The lady said go to this website so being that I had nothing but time on my hands I kept saying "for some reason I can't" that virus must be spreading! What can I do! The lady then instructed me to restart my computer and I said OK about 10 seconds later I said wait now my computer won't turn on. She asked what type of computer do I have I made up some lame computer said I've had it for 36 years. The lady started getting frustrated and said well do you want our help and I said yesssss desperately I need my computer so I can log back in to big booties 12 she hung up on me lol
