- Marie B replies to JCThis is 2017, and your post is from 2009! I can’t believe these scumbags haven’t been caught and thrown in jail by now. They called me but didn’t leave a message. It’s a well known scam where a recording tells you to call to fix your computer...Don’t answer! 😡
- Caller ID Queen replies to Petty manThat is one of the funniest ones i have ever read! "big booties 12..." Those scammers deserve it.
- #WOKE!I think this number is a real number to Microsoft, however, what i think is going on here is some scammer copied a lesser known number of Microsoft's and use it to try to look like they are Microsoft calling you and me. My story, I missed a call from this number, called back and got the typical automated help menu. After a lot of normal sifting we have to do to get to customer service these days, i finally got to a live person and they told me very forwardly, this is a scam!!! She was a legitimate rep for Microsoft and she said that if i was getting a call from that number there were only two reasons it would happen, 1. i called them and they were returning a call (i haven't called them in probably two, three or more years) 2. a scammer copied their number and used it to try to scam people. She said they don't call unless first called. She cautioned me to NEVER give ANY information regarding my computer or any other personal information. Also, she said that Microsoft woould never ask for it. i have, myself, talked with Microsoft regarding software for my computer in the past and i assure you they never asked for personal info beyond a credit card. FYI, i use reloadable cards online and for purchases over the phone or anything else i can. Be careful out there guys.

- Ranjana BuschThe first time I received a call from this number was November 1, 2017 at my work extension. The second time was at 5:23 pm on November 4th. Both times no message was left, hence you know at a minimum that this is a soliciting call. I looked up the number online and it appears this is potentially a scam looking to control someone's computer. Microsoft never radomly calls. They revert calls and/or emails only after you have started a case with them. This is related to technology issues in my business. This would also apply to personal situations. Stay away from these calls.

- MikeHuntletonMessage from Microsoft:Quote:Remember, Microsoft will never proactively reach out to you to provide unsolicited PC or technical support. Any communication we have with you must be initiated by you.
Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories, so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using.
Once they've gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a legitimate website (such as www.ammyy.com) to install Remote Access software that will let them access your computer to pretend to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information are vulnerable.
Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information. Do not allow them access.

If you have been contacted by someone claiming to be from Microsoft and felt it was a scam, you can help us stop these fraudsters by reporting all information about your interaction with them. - LNDO NOT TALK TO THESE PEOPLE...They pose as Microsoft Company tech support. Saying that they received problem from your computer. They asked to get control of your computer and fix your problem such as viruses, hacking, warning, etc... Their phone number seem to come from Microsoft Headquarters, BUT IS NOT. These caller have very bad Indian accent. They want to sell you tech support for 1 year for $199.99, 3 years for $299.99 or 10 years for $499.99.

- KenSame as virtually all of the comments above. Call often, always saying from Microsoft, hard to understand, but telling me there is a virus on my computer and that they can fix it. I asked how much the service would cost, playing a long, 3 times and each time he refused to answer and tried to redirect the conversation back to his script. I asked if I could call back later, thinking I would check into the legitimacy of their claims--glad to see on this forum that everyone has come to the same conclusion--SCAM. Beware.
