This is a fraudulent scam call.  This is a call from Microsoft.  It is automated by computer and probably designed as a follow-up call from some previous customer service.  I do not do business with Microsoft for home they don’t have this number at all or shouldn’t.  They want to charge for tech issues but I don’t use any Microsoft products home.   Further investigation online I find this is a total scam.   Blocked number sent complaint to Microsoft.

Got three calls from 800 642-7676 within 2 hours. I figure if it really is Microsoft they would leave a message on the answering machine. Blocked after second call. Would bet it is some type of scammer using a valid Microsoft number on the Caller ID in hopes someone would answer - NOT HERE.

They are spoofing a legimate Microsoft phone number.
If you call the number, it is Microsoft.
Scammers just spoofing a legit number so if someone looks it up it comes up Microsoft.

Windows update prompt notification popped up...It was not what I expected: The update took three hours to install an update, which I discoveted was the 1903 roll out version.
Then a popup said fue to error, my favorites and Cortana were deleted to complete the update.

I have lost precious data b/ c I thought this was a legitimate Microsoft update.
After accessing microsoft support center and scheduling a tech support phone call, tech called at the appointed timr from 800.642.7676.
My computer security blocked and alerrted me to ransomware and Trojan virus quarantine. In addition; and the tech person embedded self as an administrator.
They have called many times and each time, i notice a correction in their previous application.
15 techs from India (so they said) later, my computer is "almost" ok...but very slow.
I ran a full scan am taking my computer to
    a trusted tech person adap.
    Siggggh. Long sigh.
