- BrandonMY TAKE: I believe this to be the real Microsoft number though I can’t verify that yet, but it doesn’t matter because that number isn’t actually that number, nor May any number that calls you. It’s most likely a disguised number or somehow coming up as Microsoft’s number which their are apps that do that. If they call you it’s most likely a scam. If theirs chargers on your card with that number it’s a scam they just put in a real Microsoft number.
I had 28 charges to my debit card from “Microsoft Xbox “ totaling $550 in one week or so, about $150 worth that we’re not declined by my bank. That number was on it, when I called it sounded like a well spoken indian(however, even Google support for business owners has outsourced to India for support so that doesn’t really mean anything), and she asked for my info but didn’t press for it but also said she could pull it up with the last four digits and expiration. I still didn’t give them any info and told her I’d have to verify this number. But even she gave me a different support number. So I asked well if that’s the support number what number is this? She simply said that the other one was the support number without answering my question. I don’t know if that means she was lying because being in business I have similar “protocol comstipated” conversations with the real advisors and support people.
Either way, don’t give them any info if you need to reverse charges. Go online and get in touch with Microsoft on a legit number , which I’m currently trying to do but The stupid websites now have more online help instead of a phone number . *ugh*- Caller: Microsoft XBOX
- NoelA man with Asian accent was shaky and nervous trying to convince me I had a virus on my computer. He said he had my conmputer ID and actually knew my name which is what worries me. The phone Is under cousins name. REPORT

Message from Microsoft:Quote:Remember, Microsoft will never proactively reach out to you to provide unsolicited PC or technical support. Any communication we have with you must be initiated by you.
Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories, so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using.
Once they've gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a legitimate website (such as www.ammyy.com) to install Remote Access software that will let them access your computer to pretend to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information are vulnerable.
Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information. Do not allow them access.

- Mrs. Wyoming replies to Cyndi| 1 replyHi everyone
MICROSOFT does not contact customers verbal or automative systems. Yes they are already parcily in your system. They sound like Hindu Indians. They tricked me at first. I called my bank and canceled on them. The mans boss calls me threatening to destroy my computer if I do not keep the programs that they sold me. I told them to F off! He destroyed my computer. All of a sudden you began to have troubles on your computer and receive fake Microsoft warnings as i did. They called and said, we are with Microsoft and we keep getting signals that you are haveing problems. The man says, are you in front of your computer? I said yes! He says do you see your mouse moving on your screen? I said yes! How did you do that? He said I am with Microsoft. They make troubles in your system and than try and sell you programs. Do not trust them! Now they just charged my credit card $104.99 Think about. They cannot be trusted. - Mike-in-MD replies to Mrs. WyomingWhat is worse since you let them have access to your computer, they installed malware that will allow them to take control anytime they wish to and continue to charge you money. You are now going to have to take it to someone you trust to actually undo the damage they have done and remove everything they have installed on it.

- LaceyLuAnswered call just because I'm tired of the incessant scam calls and wanted to vent. If this is indeed a Microsoft number then why didn't this clown introduce himself as representing Microsoft or better yet indicate it on caller ID. The approach was (in a foreign accent) " I'm from gmail.com and we are getting reports of problems with your account." Really? I'm on the account right now and it's fine. Send me an email with your name, company name, contact number, your supervisors name, your address and the your shoe size. In the meantime, blow it out your ashe!

- fed up with scammersthese people have a computer that can generate ANY caller ID they want. I have received these calls that show my name and number on the caller ID !! this "Microsoft" scam comes and goes over the years, after the public catches on , they stop for a while and go on to some other dirty scam like cheating medicare. I tell them I have an apple or mac that doesn't use windows, how can I have a problem with windows. this usually stops them cold and they hang up. what scares me is is the indian [***] that called today had my full name. I told him there was no one here by that name, that seemed to confuse his dumb ass! always say NO to ANYTHING they ask, saying yes gets you into some kind of mess I have heard, not sure what. the favorite question is "can you hear me"? always say no. their job as a scammer in india is a good paying job for third world [***] that poop in the street and wear bath robes 24 hours a day. notice they can barely speak English but their name is sam smith!

- JackI got a call this morning from a woman name Sharon who had a very thick Indian type accent, She wanted me to press the windows button and R at the same time and type in a code, I asked her how do I know your really Microsoft and she paused and said I am. I Google the 800 642 7676 number and all kinds of crazy stuff came up. I got a bad feeling she was trying to play me. I said your a scammer and she stayed quiet, I then hung up the phone.
- FED UP| 2 repliesHas anyone factually verified this is a legitimate phone number for the real Microsoft Corporation? OR, is it for a fee service pretending to be an official Microsoft Tech Service? At this point, is there anything that can be trusted on the internet or provided by an internet provider? The number has been listed as one of two numbers for Microsoft Headquarters, Redmond, WA
