Caller had heavy middle eastern or east European accent. Very noisy background like some sort of open cubicles call center. Said he was from Microsoft Technical department. I asked him to repeat. He did. I said, “you’re not from Microsoft.” He hung up. Obviously a scammer.

I got a call saying they were calling about a problem back in Dec. 4th, (I thought, back in Dec. like last December, because it is only Dec. 7th) he said he was calling about a report an i reported and had a claim number. First of all, I never CALLED Microsoft, so how did they get my phone number if it was actually them!!!

This is NOT Microsoft calling.  It shows a Microsoft number on your phone as a return number. They called me and said someone was attempting to steal my personal information from my computer. Then they wanted me to sign in So they could remotely walk me through the steps to see where the attempts were coming from. No. I don't think so. They were hoping I would allow them access. This  something that Microsoft DOES NOT voluntarily offer to do...not without much verification AND request BY the customer. I told them I was not able to sign on at the moment so they got pissy and hung up. Microsoft will not call you out of the blue for your info or to access anything of yours.  If Microsoft is returning your call for whatever reason you would have a reference number from them that you could confirm. Good luck people and happy holidays.

They have been calling endlessly -- finally answered and the woman who spoke with an Indian accent  said that someone had logged into my gmail account from Mexico and do I know anyone in Mexico? I hung up.

I can't believe this scam has been going on for over 9 years from the same number!  There must still be enough gullible folks to make it profitable.  I get a call about every few days.  The number is blocked but I still see it when I go thru the caller ID.

SCAM, SCAM, SCAM, SCAM.  I fell for it initially!  Me, who never answers a phone # I don't know.  I was on the phone with my son and as soon as he hung up they were on the phone with me.  I had this announcement come up on my computer quite a few times - your computer has been hacked, do not turn off or shut down your computer.  Your financial information is at risk - call - then gave a phone #.  I kept shutting down, removing my battery for a few minutes, my computer was fine.  It was the people that called that were scamming me and working at getting my financial information.  Also, he got upset when I wouldn't run immediately to Best Buy to buy a key# from them, etc.  Finally, I caught on, ran to my bank and changed accounts, changed cell phone #.  Set my computer back to factory settings, changed password.  Once windows 10 updated completely, my computer works better then ever and I didn't spend a cent. First, Microsoft does not call you, you call them.  These people are very smooth, but they had even disabled my McAfee software so nothing was stopping them.  Please do not trust these idiots.

No. It is a scam to scare and get people to pay money to them. Microsoft will not call and tell you you have a problem.

I have been getting continuous calls from these scammers for months, they cannot even keep track of who they have called with their scams because they have called me monthly sometimes with the same scam of needing to "fix my computer" and others of wanting to give me a refund for the program supposedly bought but i didn't.. I call them out every time and tell them every time to take my number off their list as they are in violation of the Do not call registry. I have filed a couple of formal complaints from this number and another phone # I was getting the calls from. However yesterday this SCAM took a drastic turn. the same Indian decent man called saying he was Microsoft and they were closing down their program and were refunding everyone their money because they no longer would be able to maintain services for my computer...so he said if i was ready to receive my $399 refund he would walk me thru allowing him access for remote control to my computer. (BTW This time he was calling from 252-525-2525 came up as JAMES NELIGAN on caller ID)...When I stopped him before he could say another word and told him no I would not grant him access because I knew it was a scam and I would appreciate that he would stop calling me every month with the same crap. And he should google Microsoft scam, and he might become educated. Well he became very belligerent and verbally abusive. First calling me stupid B***H, then made reference to him doing a sexual act to me. The whole time he was on speaker phone and my husband heard how he was talking to me and told him to knock it off and he got aggressive with him. That was taking it to far. So I hung up.... That wasn't enough though, he called back hour later and started with the vulgar language and speaking of terrible sexual things....BUT this time I got him recorded...and I filed the complaint and also sent the recording in as well. I wish they would catch these call centers and shut them down.
