- GARobocall claiming to be from Microsoft. Claims having noticed unusual activity...I hung up. SCAM
- Dale replies to Lana JordainI just received a call from them stating they have been getting messages from my computer and to turn my computer off - When I said no, he started talking in his native language real fast so I hung up. But in the background, sounded like plates being moved around like he was in a restaurant. Verizon just fixed my computer last week and I have not seen any problems.
- Woq replies to CyndiI did the same and said I had a virus don’t be fooled by this guy.
- TonyThis is the 3rd call from this number, did not answer as I was on another call, no message left, had previous calls from this number and no message left, it was a legitimate call from Micro soft, they would have left a message.
- GaryNovember 14, 2018 This is the genuine # for Microsoft Tech Support. However, they will NOT initiate a call to customers except in the case of a customer having already called them and a "call back" time has been scheduled. Calls coming from that number initially are therefore SCAM. The scammer shows the Microsoft number on their phone in an attempt to fool the receiver. When I called, MS Tech Support took my email address. If you call Microsoft, they will have a case # and notes on their service under your email address when it is legitimately Microsoft who you are dealing with.
- Caller: (800) 642-7676
- Call type: Valid
- dasanswered a call that showed up on caller id as microsoft. recording claimed that microsoft was calling and press nine to update widows for free. I hung up
- Caller: Microsoft
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- LenNo message, scam
- Caller: 800 Service
- Fed UpI called the number back and they answer Microsoft. You have the option go through a series of prompts and choices depending on what type of caller you are. In one recorded message it is stated that any information you provide may be sent to other countries. To me this is a scam and not the real Microsoft because of the voices, grammer and sounds that "pretend" to transfer the call to other departments. Microsoft does not call you, so I believe that this is just one fancy scam to get you to allow them to be connected to your computer and then infect you with some virus and hold you hostage to get the virus removed. I fell for one of these scams many years ago until I found a company that actually could remove viruses and protect my computer. If Microsoft was actually getting errors from your computer, then they are already connected. Again, I believe that this is just a scam and do not know why they would continue to use the same phone number, other than making you think this is really Microsoft. Beware of calls like this! Caller ID shows NOT PROVIDED. I think the real Microsoft would show caller ID as MICROSOFT
- Caller: "Microsoft"
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- MikeHuntletonIt is a genuine Microsoft Support number, however, it is an "incoming" number and highly doubtful they would return a call from it. Theres 41 pages of stories of legitimate and scams calls, so its not hard to see its still targeted by spoofing scammers claiming to be Microsoft Support.

Fact:- ANYONE who calls you and says your computer called/contacted them is a SCAMMER.
- Windows Operating System licenses do not expire.
- ANY Tech Support Warning pop-ups you get while accessing the internet asking you to call a number or visit a website, is from a SCAMMER.
- Web Browsers DO NOT have the ability to determine and warn you your computer has an error. They can only warn you about a potential malicious website. A Browser is software that allows you to surf the Internet, not diagnose a computer or phone.
- ANY Tech Support company that insists you need their services because of some error, outdated software or tries to convince you that you need to allow them remote access is a SCAMMER.
- Nobody could possibly know if your computer or devices have an issue unless you tell them or gave them access.
- Tech Support companies DO NOT call to give out refunds because they are "going out of business". In fact NO company gives refunds when going out of business unless they did not provide you with what you paid for.
- Companies DO NOT call to inform you that your subscription will be charged if you don't call back, only SCAMMERS do that. If you have a subscription with someone, they automatically charge you until you cancel it.
Please read about how Tech Support Scammers operate the scams and warn everyone possible about them.

TrendMicro FAQ on Tech Support Scams
Never trust a caller who wants to "help your computer" for any reason (unless you contacted them first), as they are only going to scam you. If you need Tech Support, you should contact a reputable local service.
Message from Microsoft:Quote:Remember, Microsoft will never proactively reach out to you to provide unsolicited PC or technical support. Any communication we have with you must be initiated by you.
Cybercriminals often use publicly available phone directories, so they might know your name and other personal information when they call you. They might even guess what operating system you're using.
Once they've gained your trust, they might ask for your user name and password or ask you to go to a legitimate website (such as www.ammyy.com) to install Remote Access software that will let them access your computer to pretend to fix it. Once you do this, your computer and your personal information are vulnerable.
Do not trust unsolicited calls. Do not provide any personal information. Do not allow them access.

- KWI doubt the legitimacy of the calls I get supposedly from this number. I do not answer, they leave no message. Although caller ID says "Microsoft Corp", I have never used the phone number they are calling in any MS registrations, have had no recent technical service contacts with MS. and would not use this number as a callback if I had contacted them. They call but leave no message, so I have blocked the number.
While the number itself may be legitimate, I advise people to be cautious! Scammers can spoof any number they want! Be certain of who you are talking to before you give any information!!- Caller: Microsoft Corp <???>
