This is Credit Interchange, I would recommend to record your conversation with them since they break the rules of  FCC, if they do you can sue them. Know your rights look up the Fair Debt Collection act and see what there not allowed to do. Do not let them harassed you!!! During these tuff times we dont need people to mentally and physical disturb us, it's tuff enough what were going through with our family.

I too got a call on my cell phone from this number.  Said his name was Timothy, but he did not indicate from where or what company he was calling.  He asked that I call him back, as he was looking for (left name)whom I believe is my son. My son has some credit issues and I assume this is what it is about.  But, he's 33 years old and I wish they would quit calling me, his mom,and harassing me to get to him. I don't have time for this crap.

Received a call at 9:50 this morning. Man said he was looking for a womans name (I forgot) Brown. He said she is a friend & he needs to contact her. He said "I know that you are at such-and-such address" (he gave me my correct address) & said he needed to know if Ms. Brown was at home because he couldn't reach her. I told him I don't know her, (I don't) & I didn't know if she was at home, (I didn't). He asked me to look & see if there was anyone at that residence, I refused & hung up.

Got a message from them where they identified themselves as Capital One. The lady called and said that my file has been on her desk since November and that this was my last chance to handle this "voluntarily without any legal trouble." Would have been more than happy to discuss it with Capital One and remind them that that they had already received my payment but when I called back, the recording said that I was calling Creditors Interchange and I hung up. I don't bother talking to collections people (especially ones that lie) because I am only willing to speak to the original creditor. Do yourself a favor and avoid these people. They will say anything to get you to acknowledge their existence.

I received a call from these people 2/28/09. The details are listed above. I called back today (I'm home today). I called 3 times-first 2 times, a woman answered the phone "Creditor's Interchange" & forwarded my call(s) to what I guess was an "agent". Both times I started out "I received a call Saturday from one of your agents about the people who lived across the street" & both times the guy hung up on me. I called back within 30 seconds. On the 3rd call, a man answered who identified himself as "Tim". I explained the call from Saturday. He wanted to know the "agent's" name-I told him I didn't remember, but explained the people they were calling about are no longer in residence &I never knew them anyway. I told him the truth-they moved out last week & the house is empty. He said he would take my number off the list & apologized. I guess we'll see.

I received a call from a woman today with a very monotone (forcibly intimidating) voice stating that she needed me to contact her regarding a lawsuit that had been filed against me in Maricopa County with the County Attorney's Office.  She gave me a "case number" and a phone number with her extension (which was the 800 number).  When I called her back, she demanded that I send money to the legal firm that is handling my "case" before the County Attorney's Office and told me that if I didn't pay the credit card debt by the 31st of March, I was going to be seeing them in court and they would get a judgment against me and garnish my wages.  I explained that I am not a deadbeat, that I have just been laid off, spent five months looking for a job, found one - only to have that business go bankrupt!  So I am doing consulting work right now and it is very sporatic.  I have over twenty years of great credit history and explained that this is not my "normal" repayment effort.  She was totally disinterested in my "story" and suggested that I contact a family member to borrow the money to pay Capital One.  She even offered to call my family member for me...how sweet of her!  I declined that offer and instead contacted a local Attorney in Phoenix to ask about my rights.  They cannot threaten this type of action if they have not actually filed the lawsuit.  She is a bulldog collection agent and will stop at NOTHING to harrass, intimidate and scare people whom are victims of this failing economy.  She should be ashamed...I wonder what she would do if the roles were reversed?  She is probably in the exact same position as me (and many others) and takes some sort of sick satisfaction in making these harrassing and intimidating phone calls.  It's pathetic!

BEWARE of scam - Interchange Collectors call, posing as "Senior Prosecutors from State Agencies threatening immediate legal action.

Creditor's Interchange is located in Buffalo, NY,  and they have a large collection operation across the river in Canada where the wages and worker benefits are even smaller.

VERY aggressive debt collectors who lie, threaten and do any illegal act imaginable to separate you from your money. These are nasty, desperate conmen,  and should NEVER be trusted. They have posed as bankers, lawyers and other professionals to scare consumers into believing something bad would happen, if monies were not immediately forthcoming.

In reality, these low-lives of the collection industry are nothing but a fraud! Any debt collector from Buffalo, New York is desperate, however Creditors Interchange apparently is hiring the WORST of the WORST! Stay far away -- they are desperate and dangerous.

    Interesting
I had a call over a week ago from what I thought was the Fraud Department of Capital One and the message stated that someone was trying to open an account in my name.
Now . . . I certainly was not born yesterday or in the dark . . . because if you have really bad credit . . . even a good con artist can't open an account in your name, so I was very, very suspicious.
I called the "so called number" of what I thought was  the Fraud Dept and the woman on the other end would not tell me where she was from - she told me that it was confidential.   Okay.  Whatever.  She could not look anything up unless I gave her my SS# which I told her was a ridiculous request - can't you look things up under a person's name?  She said that we could be on the phone "all day".  Well, I told her "I have alllll dayyyyy"; then she got mad at me.  She would not look anything up unless I gave her my social and I said "no way".
Now, I am reading these posts about this particular collection agency and wonder why these Agencies feel like they have to jump over hoops and go through all these ridiculous scenarios to get your attention.

People:  Be very, very, very careful what you do & say on the phone.  These collectors know that people's personal financial information is a very, very, very personal thing and they will do ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING to get you down to their level.  They want to trick you into becoming angry, hostile, emotional - detach immediately and do not allow them to make you become emotional.  We have enough problems, we don't need collectors adding to that emotion.
Just remember, these collectors do not pay your bills for you - you pay your bills and you choose who you want to work with which should always be the original creditor.

Boy, are these guys low lifes.  Looked up my company number, then called me and ranted and raved (made an payment 6 days ago, per agreement.) She MRS> HIGGINS, threatened 1) make the $150 payment by 6 checks on file or else 2) Pay $220 (according to her, Im getting off really cheep)  3) Pay $585 per month, which is what they want (checks pre paid) OR  put a lien on me as fast as possible.  The conversation started as:  This is my business number, please don't call me on this number (me)  She started ranting and raving (black chick) about how I was disrespecting her, and she wanted to work with me, etc. on and on and on and on, totally out of line Such a b_____. She ended up spewing more hatefulness, then hung up on me.
By the way my mom died at 8:30 that morning, Mrs. Higgens called me at 10:30 with her Nastyness.  I was at my wits end, and in no frame of mind to even respond to her.
My advice if you get a beligerent call from them - - - is to call Chris Fiellco, The Compliance Department at CI, 1 877 770 6324  or 1 800 693 3455 and file a formal complaint.  Also the AG office of NW
I did some research on CI and they have been investigated and fined by the Attorney Generals office of NY and charged a lot of$$$ for their horrible actions toward people.  More complaints from Debtors the better, also, file a complaint with the NY Atty General

    Not Stupid
A "Mr. Jones" called and left a message today at 12:ii pm on my cell phone.  He said he was calling from "CI" and that if I did not respond by 9:00PM EST (I'm on the west coast), he would sopena me to appear in court but that there was still time for me to "work with them".  He gave me a case number and his phone number and extension (866-816-2979 x3246).

I was unemployed for almost 7 months.  I don't do business with any creditors listed here, so I don't know which creditor they represent.  My house payment is more important than these creeps - so they can stuffed.

Thank you all for posting your calls and advice!

    angry
The people at this company is very rude. They called stating that I was being sued by capital one and I needed to make payment today or get subpeona. I agreed to make monthly payments of $100 a  month but beings that I  didn't have a checking account she told me to be home to get my subpeona and make sure I have my id with me and she hung up. Ok if I had the money I wouldn't be paying it to her because of her rude remarks. I don't mind paying a bill if I get treated with some type of respect.

spoke to Bret at this number this past Friday he explained to me that my credit card with Best Buy was placed with this company and that I needed to make a payment, he offered to let me pay in 6 payments, which I said was fine, but I don't give my account information out to just anyone over the phone.  Told him I would look the company up to make sure they were legit and give him a call back...that lead to me being put on hold and his supervisor coming on the line...things got much worse from there.  Brad, the supervisor quickly corrected Bret and said that I had to pay my bill off in 2 payments, Bret didn't know because he was "new", like hell I thought.  He threatened that if he didn't have a payment to them Friday by 5 he would have to call the other company (what company I don't know) and tell them I refused.  Again I told them I would not give my financial information out over the phone to just anyone, to which his reply was "Well did he tell you we are Creditors Interchange?"  I said yes he told me but how does that make it any more legit than him telling me himself, as if I am going to be like 'oh well der...if you tell me the same thing than it must be real'.  These people are relying on the fact that you were born yesterday.  They call me every morning at 8am now.  I just put them on my call screening list.
