They were pestering me with calls at least once a week- for " Stanford Sinclair". Called on their number and told to remove me from their list. If I get any more calls in future, will find some permanent legal solution. I wrote down the name of the lady who spoke to me as well. Their call center located in Toronto.

This call was from from Total Credit Recovery, 225 Yorkland Boulevard, North York, ON M2J 4Y7 on behalf of the Ontario Student Loan Rehabilitation Program (OSAP).

He was calling the wrong number, looking for some Lena person, who I do not know.  He left a message stating the case number, asked her to please call him back and try to resolve this issue voluntarily.  He was firm and reasonably polite.

I called him back (since the call appeared to be legit and safe, not some sort of scam) and informed him that this is not Lena's number.  He told me he would have my number removed and was again, professional and polite.

I have had this issue before with various cell phone numbers, creditors calling me looking for the some person I've never heard of.  Each time, I have called them back to let them know the information is not correct and only once did it take more than one attempt to get them to leave me alone (this one person had so many different creditors after them and my number was incorrectly listed with the source that they get their info from, it was a while ago I think it was Equifax, so I had to go to the source to get my phone number removed and then the calls stopped).

Aside, years ago I was sick and went through a rough time.  I could not work, I was broke and knew I wasn't going to be able to pay my OSAP bills.  I contacted them BEFORE I missed a payment and we were able to work something out.  I filled out some forms and submitted documentation and was approved for an alternate repayment plan.  I won't go further into the details, but suffice it to say, sometimes if you can contact your creditors when facing legitimate life problems and before things go to hell, sometimes you can work it out so your credit isn't completely trashed.  In my case with the banks, my experience says go directly to your branch in person -- NOT over the phone with the 1 800 number -- can't emphasize that enough!  I got royally bent over and learned some hard lessons!  There were more options available to me, but I didn't find them in time so my credit rating suffered a mighty blow.  Anyhow, everyone has a different situation and we all deal with things the best we can at any given time.  Just sharing my personal experience in case it's helpful to someone.

The reason they keep getting away with robo calling our machines is you need to pick up, then drop it right back down. The connection charges will add up, and their scam will become cost in effective.

Also too add, I immediately received these calls after filling out some 100 dollar voucher contest on the internet. So I know, its a scam. I also know I don't owe any money. So again, it's a scam, beware the shill emotional posts trying to sucker you in.

I was getting robocalled every Wednesday for an Ontario Student Loan that was medically forgiven in 1999 and has been stats barred a dozen times over since 1986. On viewing support information, there is no record of payments made and the principal has grown from its original $4200 to $8900 - but it's not accruing interest.

That'll have a tendency to happen if pests know they've got a number that has any kind of answer. Ones that have no answer at all tend to become unappealing to call and they'll get tired of it.

If you can do it, don't answer in any way and be patient. It takes time to outlast some pests, but I'd expect they'll drastically cut back.

i know it is probably for osap. but they use sneaky tactics to talk to me. they do not know how to use a voicemail. "hello hello hello" its a voice mail. but i can not afford to pay them money. i do not make extra income. I just can't bother dealing with them. i know it should, and i know its my fault. I also hate how they funding my schooling for a system that never hired me. left me without work for a while. put me in a system that drains and taxes me where i have 200 dollars in my wallet on paycheck day left over for food or life. you try and tell these people and they give you the middle finger and do not care.
