- Sicily| 5 repliesHi, I received a phone call from a man saying that he was from Bank of Americas fraud division. The number showing on my phone was 1-800-797-7675. The man who called left a voice mail telling me that he was calling pertaining to possible fraudulent activity on my Credit card account. In his message he left a call back number 1-877-887-8935 and a reference number 001-177-413-##. The two last digits have been marked out. He also knew my full name. I called bank of Americas Customer service phone number and the verified that this man was impersonating as a Bank of America employee and that both numbers were not connected to them. The Bank of America service rep gave this email to report any suspicious events that you might experience. Abuse@BankofAmerica.com Thank you.

- CourtneyI received a call and voice mail from this number (877-887-8935 ) from a woman named Jackie calling from Bank of America. Jackie mentioned that she works in the frauds department of Bank of America. She stated that I needed to verify some transactions on my account. I did not call that number back . Instead I immediately called my bank to verify. The representative explained that it was a scam and that everything on my account was fine! Everyone please BEWARE !!

- AThe number 800-797-7675 is in fact a BofA deposit fraud phone number. If you receive a call about a check, they are verify that the check isn't fraudulent. No personal info should even be asked. Its either a legit check or a fraudulent check/Someone has stolen your check or not. Good luck!
- Caller: BofA
- Call type: Valid
- Mad| 1 replyCalled my boyfriend stating someone was trying to cash a check from me. I DON"T DO CHECKS!!! RED FLAG!!!!

- Teresa| 1 replyI received a call and voicemail mail from this number saying someone was trying to deposit a check from my checking account and they need to verify. I don’t even have an account with Bank of America! Then she asked for my social security number to see if anyone opened a fraudulent account in my name which I also know if false since I have Life Lock.

- pk| 1 replyVoicemail - asked to call that number to verify a check in the amount of XXX from my XXXX credit union account. It wax interesting that a check for that amount from my XXXX account was actually lost in the mail. I returned call and got "this is bank of america - - - and then silence - not connected to anyone.
- Caller: supposedly b of a
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- BigA replies to pk"lost in the mail", that is why I pay my bills through the bank. Saves me time and money since I don't have to worry about a stamp or an envelope. Plus most of them are electronic so it goes in the day that it is due.
- BrandiReceived a call from the supposed BofA with a reference number and everything. They LM stating that someone is using fraudulent checks. I dont use checks.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Sally| 1 replyI received a VM from this number about possible fraudulent activity, that someone was trying to deposit check into a personal account but it was not the person that the check was made payable to. I also called the company that was supposed to receive the check, they haven't. I am now waiting for my credit card company (check was a balance transfer check) to call me back so I can place a stop payment on the check, as it has already showed up on my account. So frustrating that I have to do this because and waste precious time.

- Andrea| 1 replyWell this sucks because it REALLY IS the callback number for BofA fraud department. And I work there. And it sucks when we are really trying to help our customer because there is fraud activity on their account or we are trying to prevent our established customers from spending money received from a counterfeit check in a scam. People won't answer our calls or call us back because of this misinformation. I am aware that there are scammers that impersonate bank employees. I suggest A) if you do answer any of these calls, do not give out your personal information. IF its a true bank employee, they already have your information and dont need YOU to verify it. If we are calling, its to verify a check either was issued to you and is being deposited elsewhere or someone is issuing checks out of your account and we are attempting to confirm. b) if you dont feel comfortable calling back or answering, call your bank yourself and ask if there are any alerts pending or a reason for your bank to be placing an outbound

- andrea replies to MadLOL - have you ever heard of a COUNTERFEIT CHECK? that means its a FAKE CHECK with your REAL ACCOUNT INFO ON IT- next time this happens to you, got check your bank account and make sure no one is cashing a check against it ;) might do ya some good
- Lily replies to Sicily| 1 replyThis number is not a scam
- Tygerkat replies to LilyTrue. Numbers are not alive so they can't be a scam. Callers using this number, however, can be attempting to perpetrate a scam. Numbers can also be spoofed so even if it's a legitimate phone number there's no guarantee all calls from it are legitimate.
- LizCalled from 855-255-0613 But claimed he was Joseph from Capital One - Fraud Department. Please call back at 800-797-7675 with some stupid code. Sounded very fake.

- RLSupposedly Bank of America voicemail directing me to call 1-800-797-7675. Also left a reference number. Call the phone number. Person who answered said that the reference number was not bringing up anything to populate on his computer. Try calling again later. Robo operator wanted checked number, or last four digits of Social Security. Total scam.
- Caller: Supposedly B OF A.
- LucySpoke to Tareq who originally called from (866)376-7091 and claimed to be Bank of America's Fraud Prevention Unit. Told me best callback number is (800)797-7675 and to reference an ID number. Looked up both numbers and knew it was a fraud.

- Sharon Bailey| 3 repliesI received a call from a very professional sounding young lady saying that she was with Bank of America and they had a check that appears to have been altered. They want to make sure the check gets to its rightful place. Left a reference number. I went to the internet to check the number thinking it may be a scam and sure enough.
