Hey guys, I'm an indian.. I work at AMCA (American Medical Collection Agency). We work whole night, so that u all can be debt free, not to get abusive from u. Now it's a branch ofc located in India, Bangalore.. We work not to take bad words from all. We try n help u all. But in return u abuse..N I read lot of comments abt answering machines...so let me explain u all, as per the guidelines, american rules, we not suppose to disclose any info. To a third party. So we always take the safer side and not to disclose all ur info. To any body and everybody..We abide FDCPA law, if we disclose info. To a third party then it's violating HIPAA...Now u all can reply me, whether I'm correct or.not.!!

Sorry, sa'ab-ji, but we don't believe you.  It's like Salman Rushdie says, India is a country infused with the idea of scam and fakery.

If you are getting a call from debt collector, just ask them if they have a signed contract that you agreed to pay them.  The contract that they have is with the company they bought the debt from, not you.  You never agreed to their terms and conditions, not have you ever had a contract with them.  I love it when companies sell your debt to collectors.  Sorry, you bought the debt, I did not agree to any terms nor did I borrow money from you.

I have said something similar to this to a few debt collectors and they have never called me back, nor sent me any more mail.  It is not my fault that the back and the collection agency transferred the debt with out me knowing or my permission, nor do I have any agreement with the collection agency.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
