Got the same postcard as documented in the posting by "av" dated 15 Aug 2007.  I also have been receiving repeated phone calls from their 1-866 toll free number that we have not answered. You would think that using the US mail to send their post card in order to commit a scam would be a legal offense. They are phising and scaming inocent people. I wonder how we could identify these buggers and apply the law to them?  Does anyone have any ideas that might be effective?

Got an unsoicited mail saying "Happy Birthday XXXXX"

Opened it up and and had a airTran logo on it.

Said that could get 2 Complimentary Ruond trip Plane tix to anywhere in the Continental USA.

Call 1-800-813-6994 "Flights Fill Quickly" "First to Fly". Gave me a reservation # and told me that i should call in the next 2 days to recieve a $500 Shopping spree or 3 day/2 night stay anywhere.

I received the same postcard on 3/3/2008.  AirTran logo and a birthday notice.

Got the same card in the mail yesterday. Sounded too good to be true. Did a zip code search which shows Daytona Beach, FL then searched by reverse telephone directory that brought me to this web page. Just reinforces the old saying. "If it sounds to good to be true it probably isn't".

Have received what seems to be the same card, but the number is 800-809-6310. "Featuring..... US Airlines / Fly tho US Skies". "TRAVEL PROVIDER: WORLD WIDE TRAVEL". An address is given: 3509 NW Valley View Place, Suite B, Blue Springs, MA 64015. Hope this helps other people who get this new version of the card find this page by search engines.

Received similar First Class Mail letter from Blue Springs, MO.  USPS Permit No. 41.  The letter is very official looking and I opened it since it wasn't bulk mail and was sent First Class.  Inside was a Boarding Pass with US Airlines - "Fly the US Skies"  I don't believe there is an air carrier with that name and couldn't find one searching the Internet.  I suspect this is some type of scam or either some creative sales tactic to get people to call.  However, I was curious to see if a real person answered or if an automated computer answered.  Actually, I have called several times and get a long pause after the phone quits ringing and then a message says all circuits are busy now.  I'm not doing anything further but to shred the letter and move on and forget.  Just wanted others to be wary.

I just got a thing in the mail today, ostensibly from AirTran Airways, claiming that I have been awarded "TWO COMPLIMENTARY ROUND TRIP AIRLINE TICKETS TO ANY MAJOR  INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ANYWHERE IN THE CONTINENTAL USA".  I am supposed to call 1-800-813-6994 to claim "this special gift."  That's not a phone number for AirTran Airways, and like the others on this web site, it must be fraudulent. There is no free lunch, and no free airline tickets either.

Got a similar post card with logos for Marriott, Holiday Inn, Holland America Cruise line and Carnival Cruise lkines logos on the top.  Was offering a 3 day/2 night hotel stay, 4 day/3 night Cruise or a 4 day/3 night Orlando stay.  No information regarding who the travel agent is, although the postage was from a permit in Tampa, FL.  Phone number is 866-352-0759.  Called the number out of curiosity and after three "quick transfer-type" rings was placed immediately on hold with some really bad music playing in the background.  Had nothing to do so actually let the phone sit on hold for 20 minutes on speaker while I cleaned.  No answer!  Just found this thread.  Hope no one gets scammed by them!

I knew it was spam but wanted to see how many others got it.  I think I see the pattern by now that any official airline offer will have more fine print than regular print, and at least 5 exclusions or limitations! :)

I understand spammers changing addresses and using spoofing and all, but how does POSTAL spam happen over and over?

There seems to be more threads about this company's practices than you can shake a stick at.  Here is my contribution to this thread.

My wife got one of the cards today with US Airways logo.  As seems to be experienced by others in this thread, the phone number (866) 930-9399 is the number to call to claim two complementary airline tickets to any major international apirport anywhere in the continental USA.  The mail piece has a fake U.S. Airways boarding pass.  We contacted the airline directly and confirmed that the boarding pass was indeed fake.  

When we called the phone number just to find out from whom the mail piece was sent,  the outgoing announcement on an answering machine identified itself as the United Vacation Network.   We Googled that name, and found out that there are many complaints regarding that company.   There is apparently an active fraud investigation by the Attorney General of the State of Florida.  There is on-line availability of much media coverage regarding this company.  They also operate under the names  Suncoast Vacations,  Suncoast Incentives, and Travel Services USA.  On the back of the fake boarding pass there is the name Global Holidays,  1950 Old Gallows Road,  Tysons Corner, VA 22182.   The bulk rate postal permit number is 850, and the mail piece was sent from zip code 32114, which is Daytona Beach, Florida.  

The most alarming thing about this mail piece is that it pretends to be a birthday present to my wife.  That means that a company that participates in fraud has gotten hold of my wife's name, address, and date of birth.  In this age of identity theft,  that is a dangerous combination of information.

We don't play the roll of victim very well, so we are pursuing this matter fully.   We have contacted our home state's attorney general's office, and the attorney general for the state of Florida.  We are also contacting the postal system regarding the attempt at mail fraud. We are also trying to ascertain the source of the information this company has about my wife.  Now that we have discovered the Virginia address on the back of the fake boarding pass,  we will be contacting the Virginia attorney general as well.

If you receive such a card in the mail,  it is indeed a scam designed to defraud you out of thousands of dollars in "membership fees."  Contact your attorney general's fraud division immediately.  Since the Florida Attorney General's office seems to have an active investigation,  you should contact that office as well by e-mail at ag.mccollum@myfloridalegal.com.

Very, very interesting.  800-813-6994 connects with "Global Holidays" which matches a mail piece we received on Saturday, April 28, 2008.  The phone number on the mail piece was 866-930-3999, which identifies itself as United Vacation Network.  Apparently one and the same company that is under investigation by the attorney general offices of Florida and Oregon.

Yes, I have posted another message on this thread.  My investigation is continuing.  I won't give up until I find out how my wife's name and date of birth was compromised, and by whom.   I hope the hosts of this blog do not mind if I continue to post information as I find it.

*** Update ***

I have received information from the U.S. Postal service about the postal markings (Permit 850, Daytona Beach, FL).  The company just does the mailers for its clients using its bulk rate permit.  It did not appear to me that the mailing company determines the content of the mailers.

I am still trying to get the paper trial between the telephone number in the mail piece, and the company I heard named in the outgoing announcement when I dialed that number.   That paper trail would then prove with finality the link between the mailers that have been received by the people posting to this blog, and the media coverage and corresponding Florida AG investigation.  

The only "Global Travel" I have been able to find thus far through web search engines is a company in the UK.   However, Virginia law (and some other states) permit an entity to register a trade name with the Clerk of the Circuit Court in the county where the trade name is to be used.   I am trying to find out whether "Global Travel" is so registered, and if so,  by whom.

If readers choose to contact the telephone number and go to the company's presentation,  please follow all the conventional advice to get all promises in writing before you sign anything.   Make sure you understand every term of any proposed contract they submit to you, and if you have any doubts, don't sign anything.   You can check anything you don't understand with a legal professional.   If the company says "sign now or we withdraw our offer,"  it is best to put away your check book and do business with someone else.   Please also make sure it is absolutely clear with whom you are conducting business. "Global Travel" may be owned by someone else.  Who that someone else is, is important to you.

Once I find the relevant facts that would make having multiple companies represented in this blog with the same 866 telephone number make sense,  I'll certainly post what I learn here.   At this time,  I'd be suspicious, especially given the media coverage that is out there.

My wife also received this "offer."  A BBB search on the 800 number brings up Global Travel, 8517 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, Va 22182
and shows that only one complaint has been against them has been processed in the last 12 months -- and that the company was responsive.  The BBB record also lists a point of contact: Leslie D Lenel (Director of Administration).

I stand corrected.  I see a Global Travel International gets lots of site hits nation wide.  Global Travel appears to be something else.  Our mail piece definately says "Global Holidays" at 1950 Old Gallows Road.
