- Lady of the HouseAfter finding that it took me over 15 minutes to delete all of the voice mail they left me I came here to find out who they were. They are asking for my husband, and they left a reference number. I pay the bills around here since my husband is active duty and usually out to sea. I have done so since before we were married, and feel that if any debt was outstanding in the past three years or so I'd know about it. My husband has been very open with me about outstanding loans, and we pay them on time. He has been very careful with his money and enjoys signing checks to pay bills. Making timely payments makes him feel like a man; making timely payments on his behalf makes me feel like a good wife. So I have tried calling this ridiculous company back to find out who they are, what they want, and how I can accommodate them. But I can never reach a human being. Weird.

- DeeThey call my 12 year old sons cell phone saying they have important personal business matters with him. I believe they could possibly be a Pedophiles looking for young children. I will definitely turn them over to the proper authorities because I have called and asked them to quit calling his cell phone number and they continue to call so I am saving all messages on my sons phone to file a case against these perverts.

- HMGSI have been receiving numerous calls every day from an "unknown" caller on my cell phone. I never answer unknown or restricted numbers. If it is important, they can leave a message. Today is the first time they have left a message. The man on the phone said he was from FNCB and this is for the collection of a debt. He did leave an 800 number to call back. It was 800-824-6191. I have had a couple of collections for medical bills in the past, but I have been working on them all to get them paid. I finally paid my last one last month. Or so I thought. I have paid any and all that I have ever been notified of. So Im not sure what this is about. I tried calling back to see what it was all about and I was on hold for 35 minutes listing to a message "your call is very important to us, please continue to hold" every minute. They must not want money too bad if they wont even pick up the phone. Oh well, I have attempted to make contact with them. I'm sure they will call back again and again.

- Spence| 5 repliesThere are laws that these companies do have to follow, and many times they do cross over the line of legality. I have been using a very inexpensive service that puts the power back in my hands. I had a company that would call 5 or 6 times a day, and if you did pick up the phone they would immediately go into attack mode. Once I got this service I made one call to them and I have never heard from those collectors again. It helped me and I know it can anyone else that is being harassed by these people. If anyone else feels like I did any are tired of being harassed, email me and I would be happy to share what I used.

- MargieI have been getting phone calls from FNCB for weeks now. They have been calling my cell phone looking for my daughter. The number shows up "unknown". I usually don't answer those calls, however they left a message and since it was for her I returned the call. They refused to give me any information, not even who they were. So I said that if they wouldn't tell me anything, I wouldn't either. However, I did tell them my daughter doesn't live with me nor does she live in the same state and to stop calling my cell phone. They still call almost daily. I read this site and decided to call them and tell them again to "cease and desist" but I received a recording "please stay on the line and your call will be answered by our next available representative". I was on hold for 25 min. I finally hung up the phone.
Do they have a website where the consumer can reply to them about their phone calls? Like a corporate headquarters? I was in the beginning, willing to work with them, but they stonewalled me and refused to work with me!!! So, they can find her on their own!
Thanks!- Caller: FNCB

- KrisA computerized woman's voice states that they have important business with us and asks us to call 800.824.6191. They never use our names or anyone's name, they never say who they are, and they call almost daily. The caller ID says unknown name, unknown number.
- ReneThis number keeps showing up on my caller ID. They attempt to leave a recorded message, but I guess it starts talking as soon the voicemail picks up, so I never get any info other than "please call as soon as possible".
- Mai Ling replies to SpenceHi, regarding your response to these calls, I would like to know what method you used. Would you mind emailing it to me? Thanks!

Caller Type: Collection Agency - LThey called and left a prerecorded message on my voice-mail-only number on 10-23-08, identifying themself as First National Collection Bureau, for the person who had my number 5.5 years ago.
I need to call them back using their non-toll-free number 775-829-3790 from a blocked line (so they won't have an additional number to use to reach their target), and ask them to remove my VM number from their database.- Caller: First National Collection Bureau

- DCSDefinitely a thug collection agency. File a complaint on the FTC website with their illegal and fraudulent debt collection practices; they prey on good, decent people. The do not call list area won't help with this type of complaint - but the regular ftc website complaint area will...

- Tran FamilyThey kept calling my house number and locked their number. They looked for Donna Washington to collect debt. They knew who we are and wrong number, but they still leave a messege and called back with blocked number to harrass our family. We called back to requested them drop our number, but they still did not care and acted very unprofessional. Since their identities are unknown and many American communities complainted about them. Obviously they are very risky to America. They might be communitity terrorists and tried to recruit their member. Now they try to terrorize many American communities and nothing happens to them so we do not know what is their next step. We are very concerning for America since their identities are unknown. The Government and Homeland Security must do something to stop them from recruiting their member and terrorizing many American comminities since they identities are unknown relative to very risky to America as a whole. May God Bless America.

- NiceTryI received a call from them on a Friday stating a balance was owed from AT&T. I explained to them that a different collection agency had already contacted me regarding the account and I had faxed a copy of the canceled check showing the amount in question had been paid directly to AT&T (FOUR YEARS AGO!).
Upon hearing this the woman on the other end said, "Oh, I'll note the account then." I asked her if I had to fax them a copy, as well, and she only repeated that she would note the account. I then asked her what I had to do resolve this, and once again, all she would say is that she made a note on the account.
I don't know what all that means or what the outcome of this is going to be. I have received notices in the mail and phone calls off and on for the last few years. If it were a debt that I truly owed I would pay it, no question. However, I have paid it and I have proof of that payment. As far as I'm concerned it's a dead issue.- Caller: FNCB

- billcatI've been harassed by these people and others before them. I have a fairly common and listed name. I believe the method of operation for many of these people is to call someone with the same name of whoever they're seeking and then harass innocent people until they get them to pay. In other words, fraud. One company demanded my social security number and I told them no and instead asked that they give me the social security number of the person they were looking for. Of course they wouldn't; nor would they tell me what debt I supposedly owed or to whom - a truly ingenious bit of "collection strategy". The verbal abuse I've gotten at times is so bad I sometimes wished I'd recorded it for future reference when I want to be rude. They will out-and-out call you a liar without so much as an iota of proof that the person they're speaking to is the person they're supposedly looking for. On a good day I enjoy sparring with these morons because I KNOW I do not owe money to anyone since I refuse to buy anything at all on credit and never have. (Well, I did have a mortgage once but that's paid). Yes, I'm one of those rare birds who believe that credit is a suckers game and don't have anything to do with playing it. So why are they calling me? Because I'm listed ... it's the ONLY possible reason, so these people are swindlers as well as liars, cretins and genetically mutated offspring of inbred pirates. They should get real jobs interrogating prisoners at Gitmo.

- Joyce Murrayleaving repeated messages on my telephone that is barely understandable. Do not know what they are saying.
- OraAn automated message calls for a person who I have never heard of. It says if I am the person, press 1, if not, press 2. I do nothing. Then it provides a contact number to call: 1-800-824-6191.
I called this number and told the attendant I was receiving phone calls for a person who I have never heard of before. He asked for my telephone number to verify the name of the individual they were looking for. I said I've never heard of that person. Then he removed my number from association with that individual. Like other similar calls to this, I do not expect to hear from them again, because I dealt with them in a cordial and calm manner. I have never heard back from any company I've done this with.- Caller: First National Collection Bureau

- Kittyzmeow replies to D| 2 repliesWell, not all people that are reported to the collection agencies are liars! You are ignorant! My bill started out as NO bill. When Iraq called my son to duty **&* agreed to not charge us an early termination fee. Well, five years later this company (FNCB)is calling to collect a debt that was not supposed to be a debt. Now, the early termination fee is three times what they would have charged. Oh, wait! That's not legitimate is it? We should still be stuck with bills even when we're over seas fighting for..uh...YOU! Even though the phone company told us they would NOT charge us and then did?
You are stupid to believe that EVERYBODY who is actually sent to collections really owes that money! Hell, I know people who have been sent to collections because someone stole their identity! But..are they liars? Are they deadbeats? Three, four or even five years later rude collection people start harrassing others to try to collect money someone else took or a debt someone else charged. Get a clue! One day it just may happen to you.
