    Tired of it
I have been paying my car loan for over 4 years and have not been late and Suntrust continues to call every hour or two every day a week and a half before it's due for a reminder.  I do not need a reminder or just leave a message.  The check was mailed on time. Maybe if they had electronic payment services like all my other billing providers they would not need to make any calls or if they had more people processing payments instead of calling it would be processed quicker.  There is no Suntrust nearby to make a payment so I have to resort to snail mail.  Do courtesy calls really save them money

I have a 10 day grace period on my car loan. It's due on the 15th and they call every month during the grace period to ask where my payment is. I've never been late with a payment in the last 3 years of this loan. I usually ignore the phone calls since they never leave a message and I've actually started waiting until the very last day of the grace period to drive up to the branch and pay it. I'd be more likely to go out of my way to get it there on the 15th if their website didn't require me to have a checking account to pay online (no way on God's green earth would I get a checking account after this disaster) or if they didn't harrass me monthly. If I didn't have such a short period left on the loan, I'd consider refinancing it with another bank. This will be the LAST account I ever open with SunTrust.

Soon to be Ex-Suntrust Customer replies to The Facts
    Wow.
I have a savings and checking account with Suntrust both for personal and business.
I also have a car financed through Suntrust. A friend of mine sent me your posting and I must say that it stinks. He sent it to me to see if this would change my recommendations of your bank to other clients and friends. Well yes it does. Your message is nasty and unprofessional. Because he is a reservist serving overseas he has a hard time not paying a few days late. NO, he's like me and never does auto payment because banks make mistakes.
I'm going to far into it. My accounts will be changed to other banks and closed ASAP.

I called the number that you listed here and the person I talked to gave me the following number to opt out of their phone calls, mailings, etc.  They ask for the last 4 digits of your social security #, your zip code, the last 4 digits of your account #, etc.  This is information that they already have, but they need a way to know that you are who you say you are.  Otherwise, anyone could call and use your name.  The number to call is 800-432-9472 and it is an automated voice that you can reply to or press 1 to give your answers.  Only thing is they say it could take up to 30 days for the calls to stop which seems excessive to me.  Good luck everyone.

I'm sorry-I replied to the wrong post.  The number that I called first was 800-786-8787 and that person gave me the number listed below to call to opt out of their phone calls, mailings, etc.

Hey douchnozzle, even if you pay on time every month they STILL call sometimes because their record keeping sucks. And once they call the first time, they will call the instant your payment is late, even by 1 day. Even when it's their fault, which is EVERY month. And I have the check stubs to prove it.

    Nancy;

Now they are calling my cell phone.  We do have a vehicle through Sun Trust (not our idea, it's the dealership that did it!), but I've never given them my cell phone number.  They leave a message, but never say who they are.  Very un-business-like, if you ask me.

    Sick & Tired!!!
I am constantly receiving calls from this number claiming to be SunTrust Bank. An auto message was left on my cell phone voicemail to give them a call back. I don't have a SunTrust acct. so I know it's a scam. What can I do to get them to stop?

Actually I just called the number it calls my cell phone which is on the Do Not Call List and its a recording that says "To receive $100 in rebates by retailers such as Walmart and BestBuy" press one brought to you by Daily Savers then gives another number for toll free directory assistance - a scam for sure.

This had nothing to do with suntrust

On 9/3 at 10:25 am, I had a phone call from 1-800-828-7959 on my caller ID.  I did not recognize the number and they did not leave a message.  At 3:42 pm on 9/4 I received a call from 1-800-828-7959 asking if Marsha **** was there.  I told her nobody named Marsha lived at this address.  She asked my name and when it was the same last name as "Marsha," she asked if I KNEW Marsha!  I told her I did NOT!  She then asked me MY phone number (which I thought was pretty nervy since SHE called ME) but I told her.  She told me she would have my phone number removed from "the list."  Today (9/7) at 6:25 pm, a man called from 1-800-828-7959 wanting to speak to Marsha **** AGAIN!!!  I told him that this was the third call from this number, that the woman on the second call told me she would have my number removed from the list and obviously she had not done it!  I also asked what he was calling about since I was the one being inconvenienced by their phone calls!  He did NOT tell me who was calling but he said again, that he would have my number removed from "the list."  I searched the phone  number and see it's Sun Trust Bank Collections Department!  I don't have an account there and never did for any reason!  This woman obviously and fraudulently gave them MY phone number!!!  NOW I am going to call THEM and tell them I am going to REPORT them if they call again because I have an UNLISTED NUMBER!!!  That usually does the trick.  Sun Trust has a lot of NERVE to keep calling me erroneously and refusing to identify themselves!!!  I WILL be giving them an earful!!!

Yes it is Suntrust alright. Sometimes when I pickup I get a recording with the instructions to hold and I hang up. Other times no one is there. I ran into some problems with medical bills, divorce stuff, etc and am now behind over a month. I informed them today that a chapter 7 procedure had been started and they could have the car back. It is 15k upside down due to me being ignorant enough to let a dealer screw me.
They then asked for my employer phone number and all they got was my attorneys number. The caller was foreign and hard to understand.

They are NOT Suntrust. A Joan at Crestar called my direct line at work yesterday asking for my social because she had info regarding my account with Suntrust. I don't have an account with Suntrust, but do have a mortgage and auto loan. I immediately called my local Suntrust branch and she told me that they do not have third parties working on their behalf and would never ask for our personal info, not to give it out.
