Your telephone company / cell phone company  sells  your  name  and  address  and  phone  numbers  to  anyone  who  will pay  for  the  list's !

Also the credit bureau marketing department sells certain information from your credit bureau file WITHOUT your authorization or signature.

    It is called GREED !

The information they get from the credit bureau's on each person makes them sound convincing.
Your credit bureau info has partial credit card / account numbers but not the whole number and not the expiration date.
The first part  or last part of your credit card / account numbers are on the credit bureau info they buy from the credit bureaus.
The scammers use that to convince you that they have the information , whole number when they dont.

Example--- your credit card # is listed on the info they buy from credit bureau  4491-3333-0xxx-xxxx

The scammer tells you that your visa # is 4491-3333-  and asks you to fill in the rest over the phone to make sure it is correct.

Seeing as how they have the first part , most people think they are legitimately with  their bank.
Mistakenly thinking the scammer has the whole number, the person gives the last few digits.
They trick people also by--  Sir, now so I know your Mr. XX - please verify the expiration date.
Not thinking the person gives it right up.

Get online or call  and put a block on the credit bureau's selling your info in their files for marketing  purposes.

GOTO each of the BIG 3 Credit Reporting Agencies online and or call to  ----

    --------  >>> Opt out of Pre-screened / Pre-approval offers <---------

By federal law they have to stop selling your information to any tom , dick, or harry  who want's it and can pay for it.
As always your full credit info is available to creditors you do business with as long as they have your signature on a credit application.

1-800-847-2911  is  a  legitimate , real phone number to Visa International. The main visa company that owns the visa trademark which banks pay a royalty for each card they issue.

BUT---  The scammers calling you are   NOT  from  visa international. !!!!!!!

They give you the  800-847-2911  hoping you will search on  that  number  and seeing  as  how  that  number  is  legitimate , They hope their scam will  then work on you.

I have spoke to my local bank visa department who confirmed that Visa International's number is indeed  800-847-2911.
Again , Visa International is  NOT associated  with  the  scammers calling to reduce  interest rates !

Even if  800-847-2911  shows  on  your  caller  I.D.

DO NOT GIVE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER TO ANYONE THAT CALLS YOU  !!

The scammers spoof  phone numbers, in this case  visa international's number to make it show on your caller  i.d. !

    Google ----   TELEPHONE NUMBER SPOOFING
       or      ----   PHONE NUMBER SPOOFING

They   hi-jack  innocent persons  or  innocent companies  phone numbers and make them appear on victim's  caller  i.d.  when they ( the scammer )  calls  you .

I have did a lot of research on this company. I have been on many conference calls with my congressman's local office, state of Tennessee attorney general's office, and Tenn. commerce dept.
One conference call with the above included the FBI office in Memphis TN.

I have kept list's of the numbers for the govt./people above, which does no good as the numbers they call from are either spoofed / hi-jacked innocent victims numbers.

In my research I have found--

the scammers  buy  pre-paid cell phones which have no address or name attached to them
the scammers spoof innocent peoples phone numbers as I said above.
the scammers use  VOIP phone service

they do have a multi tier calling processing system-- one location calls, people who press 1 to talk to someone are connected to one of hundreds of people at their home or where ever in any state that scam employee is located.

I found online where the federal trade commission has caught these people doing this crap before and got them in court.
Sued them, got a judgement / guilty on the scammers.

Then the scammers lawyers cried  pity me , pity my client and the government drastically lowered the fines and conditions. I wish I could scan in the lawsuit here so you all could see !!

Here is the name on the lawsuit on these people before ----

    UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

    vs

    SONKEI COMMUNICATIONS INC.

    ------------

Search on this exactly--->>  UNITED STATES  vs  SONKEI

    using  google search engine

That will pull up the court papers from the last time the government caught these people and let them go   !!!!!!!!!

The government claims they can't or don't have the manpower to trace these people over  VOIP calling.  VOIP meaning-- voice over internet protocol-- phone calling

The FTC and congressman's office said VOIP calls can't be tracked down.

I bet you this-- if  the scammers made come kind of  threat against someone important enough or whatever,  they would be tracked down in a second  !!!

I know a way these scammers can be caught by the govt.

Get with someone who the scammers are calling a lot--
make sure that person is on the do not call list's
give that person a valid visa to use
let the person sign up for the scammers interest reduction kit
and when the scammers deposit  that visa transaction
the government place a Federal Hold on the bank account the
scammers are using to accept the visa transactions in.
Serve their bank with a warrant for all associated accounts and the information on
    those accounts, authorized signers, etc.
Where if any banks the money is or has been transferred from such accounts in the past.
Someone has to be signer on the scammers  accounts.
Once they have those people, real easy to sweat them for the actual owners
    of the company.

One last thing--  The phone comapny is selling everyone a DEFECTIVE product or service !

Everyone is paying for caller I.D.  that does not work !!!

I tell you what, any other product  or service that is defective with so many people being cheated,
there would be  CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT'S  in a heartbeat.

I am sure there are tons of attorneys  who would love to sue the phone company who has very deep pockets.

Phone company ( at+t ) was on one of the conference calls I mentioned above, said the equipment to trace and accurately display  VOIP initiated calls  is very expensive.

Well , everyone is paying for accurate caller  I.D. information.
    Why is'nt it accurate?

CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST THE PHONE COMPANY ( COMPANIES ) IS WHAT'S NEEDED !

You say you dont know how they knew your name ?

    Laughing myself to death.
Have you ever heard about reverse telephone search?
You go online and reverse search on the phone number, gives you the name, address.

They have access to database's for a fee that has each and every number cross referenced  by name, address your neighbors , etc.

They also buy your info from the credit bureau's.  By law the credit bureau's can sell partial info from your credit bureau for marketing, pre-screened offers.

I suggest all you go online or call the 3 largest credit bureau's and fill out the    OPT OUT  marketing
section  to stop your info from being sold to telemarketers or companies for marketing purposes.

The pre-approval junk mail you get for pre-aproved credit cards and insurance,  etc.

Is where they sell your info from your credit bureau.

    OPT   OUT

It  is free,  by federal law they have to stop if you  tell them and fill out the form to opt out.

That will not stop companies you do business with such as when you fill out applications for credit , etc.  but  you sign for the release of  your info in those cases .

I heard when the scammers call people , the scammers have some of the persons info

Just enough to make the person think the scammer is legitimate

The pre-screen info they get from credit bureau's,, first part of account numbers but not whole number.

They then tell victims when they call , they give  the first part of a a credit card number ( which is all they have ) the victim , not thinking , thinks the caller (scammer) has the whole number, and legit.
The scammer says the first part of the credit card number , which is all they have from the credit bureau prescreen info, then the scammer asks the victim to finish the rest of the number, telling the victim it is for security purposes. Wham, the scammer has the entire number. Then they start after the expiration date and cvv number on the back.
Most victims at this point , if they got this far -- will give the other info freely. Which is CRAZY.

I received couple calls today from the scammers. The immediately hang up.
Doing more research I understand the scammers are changing their tactics a little.
The story has got out and the scammers are not making the money they want.
I understand they hang up on young sounding people . They are going after elderly people
who they think will be easier to scam. I'm sorry to say might be true.
Couple years ago I was at my aunt and uncle's house, uncle answered the phone and I overheard him answering the other person, he was telling someone the name of his bank, he was going after his wallet , I later found out to get his social security card to give the number to the caller.
Anyway , I yelled for my aunt who came to the phone and asked who the person was.
The man cursed my aunt loudly, I could hear him yelling. She hung up.
If I had'nt been there , some criminal would have been very lucky raiding  my aunt/uncles acct.

Long story short___ the current credit card scammers  seem to be going after elderly sounding people or the scammer hangs up .

Hanging up on them is exactly what they want.

Something that will aggrivate them more than anything , get back at them---

Don't hang up,  talk and talk to them.
Make them think your very interested. Tell them you have over 7000.00 in credit card debt
Tell them you have a fist full of cards. They ask do you have a m/c  or  visa  in good standing.
Tell them several. They will want you to give one of the numbers,  stall ___
ask tons of questions, how long their service is for, is it a one time charge, etc.
be creative , the longer you keep them talking the fewer people they will be able to call.
Maybe you can keep some elderly person that dont know better from being scammed.
but keep asking questions,  tie  them  up .
Ask if their service is a one time charge for it.
I make it a game to see how long I can keep them on the phone.
Tell you what---  I get very very few calls from them anymore.
Use to get  many every day. Now 1  or  2  calls  a  month at most.   hehehe

Keep them talking, then after say  10, 15, 20 , minutes __ tell them as you laugh that the joke is on them as you have kept them talking about nothing as they are getting absolutely nothing from you.
No credit card number or anything. While laughing.

They DO NOT like you wasting their time. They get  very upset and call you all kinds names.
You know why --- their mad ,  you took up time they could have used to scam others.

If more people wasted the scammers time like that,  they will stop  calling  you.
They will move on to easier -----

Get your fact's straight friend !

    Bob,

Please  google ---->>> PHONE NUMBER SPOOFING  or  NUMBER SPOOFING

These scammers steal , hi-jack innocent victims , companies phone numbers adn cause that
number to show up on  your  caller  I.D.

The  1-800-847-2911 you called to harass Kevin at is a legitimate number to a legitimate company !!
That number is to  VISA  International who oversee's all visa cards issued by all banks.

The scammers are in no way associated with VISA International !

By you jumping the gun without all the facts and calling  Kevin up at  VISA International, you did something really stupid.  Sorry to put it that way but I get mad when I read a posting where someone did what you did.
What if the scammers started using your personal phone number as their own, making your number show up on all their victims caller  I.D. 's ?

Then thousands of  really mad people / victims  started calling you and cursing you out and telling you off ?

Please , next time make sure who and or what your calling , make sure it's the correct number and person !

One way to stop a lot of your personal information from getting out.

Call or go online and notify the Big Three ( 3 ) credit bureau's that you want to

---------->>>   OPT   OUT  <<<----  of  all  future  pre-screen  marketing of  your  credit  bureau
    information !

They sell information out of everyone's credit bureau file.

Tell the credit bureau's you want to  opt  out !

I did it online.   I understand you can call them and get a form sent to you to fill out and return.

Which way suits you , do it that way.

Federal Law requires them to allow you to opt out of  pre-screen marketing of your credit information.

Your  credit information  can and will still be provided to your creditors that you do business with. Such as  when you fill out an application for a new car, loan , etc. Where you sign an application. That you can not opt out on and you should'nt anyway on that.

    Just  pre-screened marketing offers.

Lot of the phone scammers  get  information on you that way, and they piece it together with info from other sources.
They use such info to trick you into thinking they are legitimate when they call.  Most think since the caller has such and such info , they must me real . When in fact they are scammers.

Contact the  Big Three ( 3 ) credit bureaus  and  opt  out.

You can get  your credit bureau's once a year for free  under federal law.

Make sure your on the correct site to get the free credit bureau's on yourself.

There are a lot of deceiving websites that try to make you think they are the correct one for your free federal credit bureau's.

    ANNUALCREDITREPORT.COM

    https://www.annualcreditreport.com

when you finish with each of the 3 companies it will prompt you to goto the next company for the next one.
With these federal free ones you dont get a credit score, which i dont care as I am checking for any in-accuracy on each of them.

I suggest you print each one before going onto the second and third.

Get your 3 reports each year to make sure everything is correct.
It will show under inquiries everyone who  got access to your credit bureau report.
    There are 2 inquiry sections.
One section is for credit granting companies you signed an application to for credit.
The other inquiry section is the one where the credit bureau sold your information to
companies for pre-screened offers , without your signature which is not needed .
That section will show each and every company that got your report for pre-screening
to make credit and other offers. Those companies name, address, and most of the time
their phone number will show. ( insurance companies like  Geico who send you junk mail trying to sell
you insurnace, they purchased your information from the credit bureau's to market their
    crap to  you )

I just received first an automative answer and then pressed '1' and got a live person who identified the company as 'Card Services" . He proceeded to tell me I received a letter about 30-45 days ago from them to lower my APR on my credit cards. I said I never received such letter. He says "Ma'am yes you did". So I told him I don't trust this and don't know if this is legit. He says we are "100% legitimate and we're here to help you" so I told him to give me his number and I would return his call. The number he gave me was 1-800-847-2911. The number that came up in my phone is 828-202-1045.  I really wish someone would do something about these scams. People are struggling enough without these kinds of predators trying to take advantage of them. I hope my post prevents someone from getting taken advantage of. It's a shame.

Report each and every scam call that you receive like this to www.donotcall.gov.

There are so many of these robocalling pond scum scammers, but they are going after them.  They cannot do anything about it unless you report it first.  Be sure to describe in detail the harassment you are receiving from these crooks.

This is definitely a scam - BEWARE.  I received a recorded call today from this number which appeared to be a scam, and I pressed 9 to be connected to a live agent.  I got a man with an Indian accent and asked what company this was, and he said "Card-member Services for Visa Mastercard" in Orlando Florida at 1-800-847-2911. I asked him to verify my account number and he gave me one number of a bogus account and refused to provide anything more.  He insisted I had a Visa card and that I was selected to have my interest rate lowered.  I said I DON'T have a Visa card!   Then he knew the game was up.  I said where did you get my phone number and he said it is written on the public toilet.

This company just called me and I hit 9 to be connected with a live agent. I asked what the name of the company was. I was told first card services. then I asked card services for whom? He said the company was called Card member services He said that he represented visa, master card,etc...I asked for the phone number "to call in case we got disconnected" he gave me 800-847-2911. I also agree that it sounded like he was calling from India. I then asked how he got my phone number. He didn't know. I said you must have a department manager that I could talk to so that i could find out where the number was gotten from since I was registered on the do not call list. He then told me thank you for wasting the last 100 seconds of his time. I told him no problem before he hung up on me. Doesn't solve the problem, but it sure felt good. lol!
