- hatesTelemarketingDexter asked how i was doing today. I cheerfully said I was doing great, and asked how he was doing. He realized I was going to jack him around and hung up. I didn't have a chance to give him a phony credit card # like 4238139478726611. You can verify that it's phony at http://www.validcreditcardnumber.com/ or make up another phony number and use that web page to make sure it's also bogus.
800notes really needs to add a category of Call type like Fraud. It would also be helpful if people could select their age range, their state and whether they were a homeowner. That type of information would help in efforts to get legislators to address the problem of telemarketers trying to rip off seniors.- Caller: ID=Visa Lost-Stole

- UBChain| 1 replyCredit card phishing scam through and through. They are clever at extracting personal and card information. Whenever you get a call claiming they can lower your rates you can play a little game with them I like to call "How long can we keep them on the phone?" First, be prepared with a fake credit card number (google credit card number generator). Pick a visa or mastercard number from one generated. Decide on an expiration date a few years out. Have a card balance to give them. I choose around $7500. They will ask for your social security number. Argue with them that you don't give that out. Then, concede to give them the last 4 (any four numbers will do but keep it all written down and handy). They will ask for the bank the card is from. Tell them it's not a bank but a credit union. If you get this far, they will ask for the toll free number on the back of the card. Google the toll free number for any credit union that isn't yours. Have all this ready. After a minute or two into it, ask them how long this is going to take as if you don't have a lot of time. When they ask you to hold, ask again, how long you will have to hold (this will come in handy). After you have been on hold for longer than whatever they told you ask them why they lied to you about how long you'd be and that you don't have all day to do this (comes in handy later). Eventually they will come back and tell you the card number isn't valid. Be insistent that it is and tell them it has that number right under "blabla credit union" on the front of the card. Then get upset that they are lying again to you about your card number not being good and that they told you your interest rate would be lowered. They will continue to try and get more personal info, Hold off on giving them a SSN. Then, tell them you will have to go find the card to get it since you can't remember the whole number. If you can keep them on more than 20 minutes, you have beat my best on this particular scam. Oh well, next call we will try and do better..

- petalspagot call this morning on a cell phone number that no one knows yet. Scam. No message.
- DNC Defender replies to CongressThe DNC Registry takes care of all but the scummiest of the scum. That said, I figure they are fair game and if enough of us jerk them around eventually they won't be able to operate. Get some paper to keep by the phone and write down random CC numbers (the first 4 have to match the card type). Sound confused, talk slow, get them to repeat things, ask softball questions - anything to keep them on as loooooong as possible. Unfortunately, it is up to US to fix the problem.
- JoeThePimpernelThey called but did not leave a message. I called back on my Google Voice line. An authoritative male voice identified the company as Visa and said that a representative would be with me shortly. I hung up and blocked them. I had left the 800 area code unblocked, but now I have just blocked all numbers that start with 8.

- Tom| 1 reply28 consecutive calls from this number in my log...thankfully not one call went through. I purchased a Tel-Lynx blocker 2 weeks ago and have not received 1 unwanted call. It got to a point where I was averaging over 10 calls a day. The DNC will never stop these idiots - either cancel your service or get a call blocker.

- thetink im stupid?| 1 replyCell phone rings, and this nnumber is on screen. After stops ringing I call the CID number on the screen and it says, "Welcome to Visa" Blah, blah, blah. You eventually get to a recording that says, " enter your card number." STOP RIGHT THERE< IT"S A SCAM- A FISHING SCAM LOOKING FOR YOUR NUMBER. Pull out you VISA CARD and call the number on you card for VISA and report the scam now. Don't wait, someone else behind you is going to fall for ir and get scammed. Call them now.....
- qwerty replies to thetink im stupid? So you called known crooks back, therefore letting them know they reached a "live" number, you continued the call, and THEN you say "STOP RIGHT THERE"?? Are you kidding? The time for stopping was immediately after they called you, when you should have blocked the number.
You might not want to know my answer to the question posed by your user name. - BonnieThis must be a scam caller...never give personal information to an unsolicited caller. Credit card bureau/ credit card???

- z replies to TomI ordered one 2 days ago. This was after I gave the guy so much crap for about 10 minutes he had time to track me down. Sometimes I can't let these phone calls go.
Other than people having issues with the interface of a Tel-Lynx it looks like the best on the market. I ended up buying the blue tooth version just in case the features are ever needed.
The only other potential issue the unit has is that I don't think there is a battery backup, which in the event of a power failure your
white/black list or people that follow the instructions to prove they are human might get lost and the Good phone #s have to go through the process again. But even then the robo calls won't ever ring your phone. I'm sure you know to load up a CSV file for those robocalls you want, like doctor, dentist, drug store.
So, I plan on setting up a UPS. Hate to do it as the ones I have a rather large for where it would be set up.. May have to buy a smaller one, or do some rewiring of the phone connection so the Tel-Lynx with the UPS can be over there and the phone outlet over here. - Jacobpmesser replies to BethThis is visa's number. What's happening is the number is hijacked by crooks trying to get your info.
