Calls from 1-800-688-7929 they start calling at 6:00 AM in the morning and into the dinner hour. They do not state what they want only demand my name. When I ask who they are and why they are calling they either hang-up or demand my name and state this is regarding a legal action.  I'm on the do not call list.  I have an unlisted and protected number via court order. I've only had this number less than a month and now this person is harassing me non stop.  I've contacted my lawyer and phone company to track down the issue. So far a trap and trace is on the line and we will see where this goes.  As far as I'm concerned it appears to be a stalker.

By calling you at 6:00 AM, they have violated Section 805 of the FDCPA:

§ 805.  Communication in connection with debt collection   [15 USC 1692c]

(a) COMMUNICATION WITH THE CONSUMER GENERALLY.  Without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, a debt collector may not communicate with a consumer in connection with the collection of any debt--

(1) at any unusual time or place or a time or place known or which should be known to be inconvenient to the consumer. In the absence of knowledge of circumstances to the contrary, a debt collector shall assume that the convenient time for communicating with a consumer is after 8 o'clock antimeridian and before 9 o'clock postmeridian, local time at the consumer's location...

Collection call for someone who hasn't had my number in over a year and apparently is deceased.

received this calls from 1-800-862-4187 so many times a day for days.  Is this number using to scam people to get information?

IMMEDIATE SOLUTION:  I get these calls all day every day, for months now. So, what I did was call them back and tell them that they have reached a  nursing home and they  have the wrong number and to please delete it from their records. I suggest anyone else do the same. Or use any type of business. Say they are calling a law firm, or a government office. They won't check, the person answering the phone will just take it off the computer. Also be sure to block your phone number when you call them. Or call from a pay phone. Be very nice and they will do it.

I get several voice mails a month on my cell phone giving me this number to return their calls. The voice mails are a recording saying that information is only to collect this debt.

Of course, I know I do not owe any money to anyone other than my mortgage! So I just ignore the calls.

Got 2 hangups on my machine from this number today and on the third call, it was an automated message looking for someone I've never heard of.  Only 2 owners of this house in the last 17 years and the name they gave was not either one of them!  They say to disregard the message if you are not that person, but if you are, to please call back Bay Area Credit Services and that this is not a sales or marketing call.

This number calls several times a week, I normally dont answer, but the couple of times when I had the time to give them a piece of my mind, there is no one at the other end. Today after an extended pause 5-8 seconds, I actually heard a female giggle. Another crazy [***] thing we all have to deal with!  The best idea on this message board was to put the number in the phone memory and assign it "no ring" Hallelujah!

They just called me. They call me at least once a day. Sometimes they leave a message, sometimes they do not. They also called me yesterday and left a voicemail saying "THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE FOR: Evan Robbins, IF THIS IS NOT EVAN ROBBINS PLEASE IGNORE THIS PHONE CALL. IF IT IS, PLEASE CONTACT US AT SO AND SO" It is a scam, I've called them back before and they hang up

came home to find 2 messages from them looking for my father who has NEVER lived at this number and is, in fact, in a nursing home.  disregarded calls.

I keep getting calls from this number. Yesterday was the first time they left a message. They states it was Julie Roberts and Davis looking for Jason Morales that she was calling to collect a debt. There is no one by that name in our household.  The woman that called was laughing and yelling very unprofessional. She called back a second time laughing from the same number. I deleted the message that was left. I'm so sick of them calling at all hours of the day.

left message on voice mail stating that if this was so and so (my name) that this message was for me, otherwise i was to hang up. if i continued to listen to message then i was acknowledging that i was the person they had named. please return this call to jamie roberts at 1-800-862-4187. this is an attemt to collect on a debt...I have rec'd same messages -4- from different # and company name a week earlier. didn't respond to them. but they asked to call back to a person with same last name (roberts) and and first name that sounds almost the same(jody) at the same number 1-800-862-4187. this company was called superior asset. and the number on my caller id was 1-678-229-5199.

I never answer the calls when they come in. I called it back and it is an automated system for Bay Area Credit Service.  Don't know them, don't want to know them. Want them to stop calling me.

I got 3 calls from this number today at 12:55pm, 1:57pm, 2:59pm.  Apparently it takes 1 hour and 2 minutes for their call list to cycle through.  They NEVER leave a message or speak if I pick up.

I have been getting "2" calls lately from these whoevers and yeah it is a automated message of a man's voice that says THIS IS AN IMPORTANT CALL.....
then you hear a woman's voice saying your name...... then the mans voice comes on saying if you are not (womans voice says your name again) then mans voice says please hang up......... Mans voice says if you are....press whatever whatever......

One of the the GREAT THINGS about 800 #'s of all sorts (866-888 and so on) is that SOMEONE pays for them.  So EACH TIME you call that number, there is a charge that is registered to a company / corporate account, and these charges end up on a telephone bill kinda that same as you and I get at the end of the month or quarter.  That means that SOMEONE is having to pay for them.

 Now can you imagine if everyone who got one of these calls, posted this number someone where hundreds or even THOUSANDS of people would call it.

 I bet that would make a large bill for that telemarketer company and MAYBE they would get the hint that it is not cost effective to call people and harass them when they don't even have the right number.
