They keep calling me for a debt I paid off 2 years ago and they say they are going to send a paper copy of my debt but havent. They also tried telling me that the original company didnt want to deal with me anymore. The rude bi@#h on the phone asked me "well why didnt you just pay them in the first place, you need to pay your bills not live off the government" which I dont. Wish I could've reached through the phone and smacked her.

I received a call from this company saying they were a collection agency collecting on some $250 owed the Florida utility for a condo I own but have rented to a tenant.  I realized they were bogus because the utility has a contract with the tenant, not me (and besides, the tenant is fully paid).  When they called me a second time I read them the riot act.  Then they called a third time, leaving a message.

Note if you call the number it doesn't exist.

This is a debt collection agency!  They are calling you because you owe money.  I know for a fact that they are legitimate because they showed up on my credit report after I didn't respond to their calls because I thought they were phony.  Please do yourself a favor and answer their annoying, [***] calls.  I checked the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and they are obeying the law.  They also call from 800 900 1380, 800 900 1367 and a couple others.  The eight digit number that starts with C is your account number.  They collect for Verizon, Vonage, QVC, parking tickets for Athens, GA, Hollywood, Miami dade clerk of courts, the PA turnpike commission, Publishers Clearing House, Rodale, and so many more.  The wonders of internet research!

Seriously do yourself a favor and listen to the annoying debt collector on the line, they won't stop calling until you pay your bill, whether it's a $6 parking ticket or a $3,000 medical bill or back due taxes.

Have gotten the "I have a message about important personal business" from this number several times.  They name a  person that does NOT Live here.  They have a wrong number - but there is certainly no button to push for wrong number. I am thinking about calling the 800 number they leave, giving them the number they say to reference and if they assume they are talking to the person they asked for - playing their game very nicely and if they give out personal information turning it over to my States Attorney.  Tonight they called right at the 9pm hour. Although they leave an 800 number, the number on the caller id is 717-920-3899.

I just read your message and now it all makes sense. I just started getting the call from the 800 number today and they have called me twice but last week I received at least two daily calls from the 717 number. I read some of the other complaints and they are saying it is Vonage. I have never had any contact with them at all. Thanks for the info, now I know the calls are connected. What is funny is if I didn't answer the first time you called from the one number what makes them think I am going to answer this one.

    Frustrated
These people stop at nothing to call me. They are looking for somebody who previously owned my number, and I wish they would quit!! They have three different numbers that they call me from--a restricted number, the 717 number, and finally this new number. I am really frustrated, and every time I try to call their number to report a wrong number, they say that their inbox is full. After looking at all these posts, it's no wonder.

You have heard of the fair debt collection act haven't you?  They are required by law to be reasonable,  truthful and honest.  Working for a collection company doesn't give license for harassment and late night phone calls would fall under that category.  If a consumer requests no further phone contact, they are required, by federal law, to STOP!!!!

You DONT have to respond to anyone. Debt Collection Agencys Can Not put stuff on your credit records only the people with the orginal debt can do that.

If you have the money pay what you owe.  If you dont have the money ignore them.  It costs them money everytime they connect to your answering machine.  Ignore them and they will go away.

Can you look at these messages and figure out who works for the company?

Let your Answering Machine pick up their call... It Costs that company money every time they connect.

Pay your debts if you can, If you can't or dont owe anything Ignore them!  They can't do anything to you except sue and its VERY unlikely they will sue unless you owe alot of money.

Most of these people don't even have the paperwork showing you owe the money.  They purchased an information sheet showing the name of the orginal party, your name, and how much you owe.

May be a little late in replying to this, but it likely isn't a spam call.  Previous posts (as in the first few pages) indicate that this is a collections company indulging in some very unsavory tactics.  While what they're doing is annoying as hell, it is legal for them to contact whoever owes that debt.

Before giving out ANY information over the phone (which you should never do), verify that a) they aren't looking form someone else who previously had that number...if it turns out they aren't looking for you, notify them that the person they are looking for no longer lives at your number and if they get pushy inform them you will be sending a cease and desist letter...b) if it turns out they are looking for you, they must be able to provide documentation stating you owe a debt, so have them send something in writing...c) if it is a debt you owe that is in dispute with the original company, notify them that you are currently disputing this debt.  To the best of my knowledge they cannot legally harass you if the debt is in dispute and don't let them argue with you otherwise.  And whatever action you take, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING.  If it ever comes to litigation, documentation is a must have.

When in doubt, do more research on your own and don't be afraid to contact your state's attorney general.  Hopefully someone with some legal background will jump on this thread, because I'm far from being an expert on this sort of thing.

Also forgot to add, if you can find out when this debt came about, it's possible that it may be past your state's statute of limitations for collection.  If so, legally you may or may not be required to pay it back now.  AGain...amateur advice here, so don't take my word as golden.  This website should help as far as letting you at least know the statute of limitations for your state.
