ANYONE RECEIVE A CALL FROM THESE JOKERS CLAIMING TO BE ANTHONY BARNES AND ASSOCIATES? They claim I have an unpaid debt. I think they called me a year ago under another name. They are threatening to come to my job and or home.

I received a call from this number.  They actually called my X-HUSBANDS MOTHER'S number.  I've been divorced from my x for over 5 years and haven't used my X-inlaws number for anything.  They claimed to be Mary Clark from Anthony Barnes and Associates.  If they aren't a scam, then they need to be sued under the fair debt collection act!!!  These a23holes need to be put in prison for harrassing people.  They left a message at their house saying they are showing up at my house this coming Monday to serve me "papers."  Nice of them to tell my X that...

Got the same phone call today from "Kristina Roberts" of Anthony Burns and Associates with some claim number against a woman haven't seen in well over five years.  Second phone call for this woman from this person.  Guess we can have a cup of coffee when "she" shows up at work or home.

I got a call from a woman  her name was  something Smith counldn't make out the first name saying she had field documents on her desk (what ever those are) she said to contact the claiments office at 800-913-9558 if i didn't i would be on her schedule to stop by my place of employment and home on monday to serve me a notice of intent.  I have no idea who she is representing she never said or gave a number to call and contact her.  Well I guess i will see what happens on  monday,

I got the same call today. Did anything happen on Monday?

She didn't show up or call on Monday, So far no phone calls either.

I just recieved a call from a Mary Clark who also said that she had some "sale" or "sealed" documents to serve me on Thursday.  She left a case number and phone number for Anthony Barnes Law Offices.  Like a dummy, I called and left my number, wanting to know what the heck was going on.  Thank you others for posting so I know it was a hoax.  My great friend Chris said he has also recieved similar calls.

Got a call at my work place (a hospital) from Mary . She didn't say who she represented, gave me a claim # and this 800 number to call to "avoid her serving me papers" on Monday.  Needless to say, I am not calling the number!

I got the same call today from "Mary". My co-woprker told me I should have asked her forher "Badge Number", if she relally does serve papers she has a badge number that can be traced. I am not calling the number she gave me!

Has anyone acutal had them serve anything or has it all been them just claiming they would?

these idiots have called my parents and my mother in law saying the same story as all of yours.  unlike y'all i had a very heated discussion with david whoever and i very rudely told him that according to federal and state laws that it is against the law to try to serve someone over the phone. I also told  him that i would happily await the papers to be delivered, I know this is a scam I have been dealing with these fools for 3 years. DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE OR SEND THEM ANYTHING!!!!!  wait for your so called papers to be delivered and get the proof of the payoff so when , if ever, yougo to court you can have them arrested for fraud and harrassment right on the spot!  :)

We got the same call. Christina Roberts has put us on "her schedule" to serve papers on Monday. Sounds like a big scam to me.

Nobody showed up to suerve us papers today.

Received a phone call to my husband's cell this am regarding a payday loan that I supposedly took out in 2008. "Michael Washington" asked him to verify his ss and DOB saying that he had a claim for an unpaid loan from 2008. My husband told him that until he saw some written documentation regarding said loan with his signature attached, he would not be paying a red cent.
I called the 1-800-913-9558 back to see if it was a scam...they answered as Anthony Barns and Associates, I spoke to Mary who really wanted to "help" me. She also mentioned that they had all our bank information and that unless I could "verify" other account info, that she could not speak to me about this issue. Then she transferred me to "Michael Washington" who reiterated that they are trying to serve court papers and without the proper verification, the claim will default.
We did have a couple of payday loans in 2008, but I have receipts of all of their settlement. They were all paid off. These jerks were calling last year under a different name, threatening to come to our home and to contact our employers. I transferred the call to my boss who told them if they did not stop the calls, he would report them.
They were relentless until I said that I had already researched and that I had no pending court date, and that if they called again, I had recording devices hooked up to my phone that were being monitored by a detective at the local PD. That made the caller very angry and he cursed at me and hung up.
Calls have ceased for a while but apparently we are on the list again. I really think the key here is to REFUSE TO BE INTIMIDATED. INSIST ON A COPY OF WHATEVER LOAN THEY HAVE.....ASK TO SEE SOMETHING WITH YOUR SIGNATURE. DON'T BE BULLIED INTO PAYING MONEY THAT YOU DO NOT OWE!

I was threatened with a personal appearance of the "FBI" at my front door on Monday....needless to say when I laughed and said really? What if I am not home?, dude got pissed and quit calling! Just be firm. No info, no verifying and nothing else. I heard that most of these jerks only have access to your last four of the SS and bank info. They will know the name of the bank and the last four of your account number but that is it. they cannot take any money from your account without your approval. NEVER agree to pay anything!

I filed Chapter 13 on this and have the paperwork.  They told me that I had to fax the paperwork to them.  I am so not paying them any money.

Received a call from Tara.  She demanded my last four digits of my SSN.  I have had identity theft issues in the past and refused to give that information to her.  She demanded that it was the law that I identify myself before they would tell me what it was about.  I asked for their address and Tara's last name.  I refused to give her any information about myself and she said she could not release information to me.  I told her I would check them out online and call back.  She said I would be served papers tomorrow.  Guess we will see what happens.

was anyone served with actual papers?  I received a call from Sue Taylor two days ago and I didn't confirm my name, but she has my name.  She gave me the 8009139558 number, but I haven't called it.  She called again today and left me a voicemail saying that if she doesn't hear back about my schedule tomorrow, she will stop by work or home.  this is a hoax right?

I have recieved those calls starting in November of 2011 I have been  on the "Monday" schedule ever since and the calls have stopped.  I did however receive a call on January 2nd from Mr. Smith again wishing me a Happy New Year and he told me i have  have been notified  and to govern  my self accordingly (what ever that means).

This has happened to me as well, and this is the second time.. My message is identical to double jay. I was freaking out! The first time was 2008 , same story different company.i think a company that did payday loans got hacked and all the info out. The first company told me I owed 5000 and wanted me to pay it off on the spot , but I knew I paid off my loan. Guess wie will see if miss thang shows up to serve me...
