- JeffCalls at least twice a day. No message, no point of contact.
Once left a message demanding money in Spanish. I'm not Spanish, speak very little.
This harassment has been happening off and on for over a year.
I do not answer the phone unless I know who it is.
If no one leaves a message, do not expect a call back from me.
Dept collectors are low-life scumbags. Admittedly there are deadbeats. I'm not one of them.- Caller: MRS Associates

- JeffOne more thing MRS uses other unscrupulous methods such as text messaging me and leaving email addresses. Jenny#$%%$@yahoo.com is one of them.

- christie replies to glendaTo stop the calls send them over a cease and desist just stating in writing to stop all communications with you; Just write them a letter with the account referenced on the top, if you do not know what account they are refering to then just put your name and ss# so that they can find out who you are. THe letter should look something like this:
This will serve as your legal notice under provisions of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, to stop all communication in regards to my debt referenced above. It is inconvenient for me to receive phone calls at work and at home from your company. Please be advised that any future communication from you, regarding to the account above mentioned be done via US mail only.
MRS Associates are like any other collection agency so yes they will continue to bother you for payment on the account owed, which could be anything from credit cards, loans, medical bills, etc... They will actually work with you if you are willing to pay on the account you can usually settle the account for less than what is owed off the current balance or to even make payments. If you believe you do not owe the debt or that much; send them a validation request:
Greetings:
I am in receipt of your most recent correspondence regarding a collection of the above-mentioned account. Be advised that this is not a refusal to pay, but a notice sent pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, 15 USC 1692g, that your claim is herein disputed and validation is hereby requested as stated in the aforementioned Act. You are hereby requested to complete and return the attached disclosure request form. Your failure to respond this request within thirty (30) days from the day of receiving this letter will constitute your denial of, and my release from, any and all of your claims against me deeming them as invalid.
Do not call. Phone calls are always inconvenient to me and prohibited at my place of employment. You are hereby notified to limit your communication with me to writing only. If you ignore this notice and contact me by telephone, I will consider them to constitute harassment and further collection efforts in your behalf. Furthermore, you and your employees agree to authorize me to make audio recordings of our conversations and to utilize them, and as well as any other information obtained, to be used against you and your employees in a court of law.
You are hereby notified that I am not requesting “verification" that you have my name and or mailing address, but that I am requesting a "validation" made pursuant to the aforementioned Title and Section; that is, competent evidence that I have any legal obligation to pay you; the nature of the debt; the calculation of the amount of money you claim I owe you; provide me with copies of any document showing my agreement to pay you what you claim; provide a verification or copy of any judgment (if applicable); the name and address of the original creditor; your legal rights to the aforementioned account; the terms of assignment by which you are authorized to collect on the above-mentioned account; the contract in which said account was sold, transferred, or assigned; and proof that the controlling Statute of Limitation has not yet expired.
You should also be aware that sending unsubstantiated demands for payment through the United States Mail System might constitute mail fraud under federal and state law. You may wish to consult with a competent legal advisor before your next communication with me.
Your failure to satisfy this request within thirty (30) days from your receipt of this form will be construed as your absolute waiver of any and all claims against me, and your tacit agreement to compensate me for costs and attorney fees.
Best regards,

Filed the usual DONOTCALL complaint.
Came here to find out it was a collection agency call. (probably for the person who had this phone # previously - AT LEAST over 10 years!)
I too have have had to send multiple agencies cease & desist letters. However I've usually had to wait until I can get through to a real person to find out who they're trying to call. (Usually it's someone who used to have the # before it was my cell phone). However, unlike one of the other peopel who wrote in, do NOT give anyone your SSN. Of course what seems to happen is that I get call-free for a few weeks and they sell it to some other agency & I have to start the process again. How many freakin' collection agencies are there out there? I"ve already faxed or mailed letters to 5 and had to get an attorney for another one to actually stop (they called me a liar when I tried to explain teh situation adn harrassed me at all hours).- Call type: Debt collector
- Geli| 1 replyGot the postcard in the mail as well, addressed to "military moms and dads" from the company "WEC-FG." Says to call this number in the claims department to receive our package. Glad I did some research before hand, as this is obviously a scam.
- D.T.My phone company (a cable company actually) lets me block up to 12 phone numbers. They never get though. I don't know what the caller hears but I don't even know they called! I have five blocks currently (just added one).
I checked with the companies offering phone service in my area until I found one that offers call-blocking. I then switched my phone service to them. You can check the companies offering phone service in your area for similar service. You are allowed to keep your phone number if you switch. Just ask.
Later I found a phone answering system that allows my to block calls. I don't use it because I have not had a need. I did try it with my sons cell phone once to see what happens. When my son called, my phone rang once then displayed the message "Call Blocked". My son just heard the phone ring. He got no indication that his call was blocked.
This phone system also allows me to "silence the phone" from whatever time I chose to whatever time I want to receive calls again.
I rarely am bothered anymore sense I switched to the new phone system.
Hope this helps.- Caller: NOT PROVIDED

- Doris in FloridaI am receiving these calls as well regarding a former boyfriend. He used to llive with me. Tey ask thousands of quetions and when you ask them one they refuse to answer and ultimately hang up. The female reps are the worst as they feel they are entitled to answers pronto. Just this morning I was asked by Mr Hinton "Can I ask what your relationship to Mr. X is?" and I answered "NO"!
I am soooo sick of these people so Im going to send them a letter ASAP. Thanks to all of you for the great information you have passed along.
(I am marking this caller type as inknown as they have never idenfied the nature of their calls to be from a collection company.)
Sincerely,
Doris in Florida- Caller: MRS
