I received an email regarding my bank accounts... saying that my account has been locked out due to excessive attempts to log in.  The concern is that I have not tried to log into this particular account in months. When I called the bank office, they 'verified' it was a bank number and attempted to transfer to the specified party to assist... however, each time the number was not a working number????    sounds too suspicious to me!

Just an FYI  I received the same email and I used to work for that Bank. Under no circumstances will a bank solicite you for information via email or internet. You going online yourself is one thing but they will never do that themselves and it is totally a scam.

I just received one of these emails and had the same concerns because I do not login online with this particular account, it is a phishing email trying to get your account information to make electronic transfers into an acount under another companies name.  The fraud department is aware, but they ask you to call and forward them a copy of your email, so they can in fact press charges for each instance.

Number for Bank of America account services.  You will also see this number if your account is locked or closed when the account goes to collections.  If you are not comfortable giving information to some stranger over the phone you can still make online payments to an account in collections by going to www.myeasypayment.com  a secure site run by Bank of America.  So you can still pay off the balance without paying a debt collectors commission.

I got the same email from Bank Of America. I knew it was a scam b/c I am not a BOA customer, and b/c they were asking for personal account information. However, I was curious, so I dialed the 800 number in the email (800.933.6262). It is an actaul BOA phone number. I talked with an account rep, and she told me to report the email to the BOA fraud dept, which I had already done.

The main thing to do here is DO NOT CLICK THE LINK! I have heard that is all scammers need to hack into your computer and get the info it wants or can sell.

Also, if you can go the extra step and forward the email on to the fraud/spam departments of the companies that the email claims to be from, it will help.

no longer have a boa acct
I got the same email.   LOL  they closed my account on me because I refused to pay NSF funds they created when they paid my car payment twice and tried to blame me for it.  They would not give me back the fees they charged and I quit using the account.  Has been over a yr now, so I don't think I could have attempted to log in several times. IF they want to suspend my account  AGAIN  go for it.  And that is not the number of customer service anyway.

I just received an email concerning the excessive attempts as well. They are good.  Even tells you to sign on and check alerts, hoping that by making the reference, you won't actually check.  Of course, i checked,  there was no alert sent.

I received this same e-mail two times. If you believe the e-mail you received regarding a Bank of America account is fraudulent, forward the e-mail and report it to Bank of America at abuse@bankofamerica.com  Hopefully if they get a lot of e-mails forwarded from us, they can lock up these jerks trying to steal our hard earned money.

I just got the same email. I knew immediately it was fake. Was confirmed when I logged in to my BOA account (through sepearte link - not email) as my account was not locked. If you click on the link and go to the "BOA website" it looks very authentic. However, if you click on some of the links, you get an error message saying "page not found." When I called the number in the email, it sounded like an authentic BOA automated system. I didn't pursue that or talk to anyone there and take a chance. I did forward the email to BOA fraud department.

I RECEIVED THE SAME EMAIL AS WELL.  WHICH MY MAIN CONCERN WAS THAT I DO NOT EVEN HAVE AN ACCOUNT WITH BANK OF AMERICA.  WHICH ONE THING I NOTICED ESPECIALLY WHEN I WAS READING THE EMAIL WAS THAT IT HAD GRAMMAR ERRORS WITH IN.  I FORWARDED THE EMAIL TO THE FRAUD DEPARTMENT AT THE BANK WHICH THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO BE LOOKING INTO IT.  I JUST WANT TO MAKE SURE NO ONE IS TRYING TO STEAL MY IDENTITY OR SOMETHING YOU KNOW!?!?!?

If you look at the above e-mail where the e-mail came from, there is the number 0 after the word bank.  Suspicious e-mail, right?

Same email received here, twice!  THIS IS FRAUDULENT!  When the number provided on the email was called it sounds official then asks for your social security number, and to complete verification asks for either your account number or bank card number. Bank of America will NEVER ask for any identifying numbers either by phone or by mail.

Yep....this has fraud and scam written all over it.  I call the 1-800-933-6262 number and an automated voice answers and the first thing he asks is for me to input your social security number.  I entered all 0's and then the automated voice asked me to enter my bank account number.  At that point I hung up the telephone.
