- larollinstone replies to KerryI went to the B of A site to report this phone call and email...and guess what...the phone number 800 9336262 IS Bof A's mobile banking number????!!!! So...what is going on?
- TandaI got a message mentioning someone has requested for authorization code. if I haven't requested it , they asked me to call 800 933 6262. I had a doubt and checked the internet and found this seems to be a fraudulent message. When I called that number (just to check), it had the same welcome message as of Bank of america and they asked me to enter my SSN or taxpayer ID. So I had to disconnect the call.

- Lee| 1 replyI did not receive a calI or email from this #. I was having problems with my on line banking & walked into the Bank Of America & spoke to a representative. She gave me the phone # for help with on line banking. She wrote the # for me to call for help with on line banking on the back of a boa receipt. I am looking at it. 1-800-933-6262. I can't imagine she would give me a fraudulent #. You may be correct that the number somehow is spoofed. But it is a legit BOA #.
- BOA customerNever ever BOA would call asking personal info. SCAM!
- BOA customer replies to LeeLegít BOA #? Read all comments above.
- greengeneA new slant. I got a text message from "Bank of America". 585774 is your authorization code which expires in 10 minutes. If you didn't request the code, call 1.800.933.6262 for assistance. I called. It certainly sounded like the BofA system. When they said they needed my password to verify my account, I knew it was a scam.
- EMT_RRI received a snail-mail letter that looked liked a letter from Bank of America EXCEPT saying that multiple email attempts had been made to notify me that documents are ready for viewing but that all the emails bounced. There was a phone number (800-933-6262) for me to call. However, even though there were none of the usual spelling or grammatical errors plus there was no Bank of America logo anywhere on the letter or on the envelop -- this led me to believe that the letter was a phishing trip. When I checked the phone number on 800Notes, I found the thread that this phone number is used for phishing expeditions.
- DanielWe received an automated call which left a message on our landline machine. It claimed to be Bank of America and that someone in our house had tried to log in online. The person who actually owns the landline and who is the only one who would use the landline for BofA ID purposes did not try to log in. Everyone else uses their own cellphones for their own BofA accounts, not the landline. The recording gave us 800-933-6262 to call back so that they could "help us" with "unlocking our sitekey" by giving us an "authorization code."
About 30 minutes before, we received another identical phone call. Only this time, the number the recording gave was 800-932-6262.
Be aware, BOTH calls had the authentic Bank of America phone jingle AND the automated voice was BofA's automated voice. I have been using computers for 35 years and I still don't know what this was. I suggest you be careful about returning these phone calls. It is best you call the number on either your BofA bank statement or on the back of your BofA credit or debit cards. Do NOT call the number on these automated recordings. - DonnaI received a text providing an authorization code and stating that if I did not request this code to call 800.933.6262 immediately. The text said it was from Bank of America.
- anna costelloi dont even have an account with them . i got a text stateing account ending in 158518 and my code will expire in 10 min,,,, stupid, never had a account with then
- KrisTEXT received from 1-800-933-6262
Most of the other folks were contacted by email. I received a text message with an authorization code. The message said to call the 1-800-933-6262 number if I did NOT request the code. I have no accounts with BofA and so obviously this is fake and I didn't request any code. I didn't bother calling the number after reading the posts here. I reported it to abuse@bankofamerica.com.
Thanks,

I refused to answer the above call because all it said was the number listed.
They called a bit after 7:00 AM! Good thing I'm an early riser. - Not fraudI talked to the person on the 800 933 6262 line. I felt a little worried so I hung up the phone and called the number on the back of the card. Explained what happened and they said that the number was real and it was the online service number.
- EmpathyI received a text at 7 this morning from this number "692632" The message stated:
"Bank of America: 626353 is your authorization code which expires in 10 minutes. If you didn't request the code, call 1.800.933.6262 for assistance."
I was automatically alarmed seeing as though I do not have an account with BoA. So I did some research that led me here. I have also check the BoA website and I have come to the conclusion that this has been a long running muti-technological phishing scam. They use the real number as a ploy for people that are too lazy to accutally look for validity. To be safe I would call BoA from a trusted number and talk about this encounter with customer support.- Caller: Text from 692632 "Bank of America"

- Robert Grant| 5 repliesI have read this thread diligently and I JUST CAN'T BELEAVE that so many people are affraid of getting a call from the phone number that is on BANK OF AMERICA'S Website for Tech support, IT IS THEM and they call when you have a Credit Card or Debit Card and you use it in an unusual place, I know cuz I have both and YES, IT IS THEM
Just think before you jump in to this paranoia,
DO I HAVE ANY TYPE OF RELATIONSHIP WITH THEM.?
HAVE I MADE ANY PURCHASE OUTSIDE MY REGULAR PLACES?
AM I USING MY DEBIT OR CREDIT CARD OUT OF STATE?
If any of those questions come with a yes then you are being caleld by your bank to check on you, and to find out if its you who is using the card in an unusual place to prevent fraud.
Another reason for them to call me is if someone tries to log in to your On Line Banking from an IP address that does not makes sense (over seas for example) they send a text to your registered cellphone with an authorization code for you to enter besides your regular Password,
Ofcourse IF YOU DONT HAVE ANY TYPE OF ACCOUNT with Bank Of america just ignore the calls most likely your farely new phone line used to belong to a Banks client and they are not aware of the change yet.
I hope this is helpful and all of you guys STOP the paranoia
the number 9336262 and the numbe3r 4321000 IT IS Bank OF America

… unless it is someone, say, a drug cartel or terrorist organization, probably not within the US, although some are, trying to rip off your identity. Or to use, confirm, or find out information about you to try to use your social security number for nefarious purposes, such as use by those involved in illegal transportation of labor into the US.
Obviously, you've never heard of spoofing telephone numbers. Or you have, and you are a shill for someone.
The bottom line is that even if these calls ARE legitimately from who they say they are, they should allow you to call back at the number printed on the back of your card and NOT rely on the number shown on your telephone's caller ID system. Right now, that is the ONLY way to verify that the caller is who they say they are -- and even that can be "hacked" through a legitimate company's PBX if the perpetrator knows and is willing to risk theft of services from the company being hacked.
The truth is that, until these warning services provide you with the ability to call them back at the number designated for theft of services on the back of your card, the banks and these notification services expose you to risk. So it pays to be careful. - CWG40 replies to Robert GrantSound like a shill to me. If in doubt people should call the number on the back of the card. No other number.
- Robert Grant replies to ANonieMouseOf course you can use the number on the back of your card If you wish, as you said in your post, that can be hacked/spoofed too, and Bank Of America IVR its hideus to say the least, So I use the number in this thread title instead when i need On-Line Support.
How ever If it makes you feel safer using the number 1800 4321000 at the back of your debit card go ahead. - mengxingkangmy debit card was unlock
