I received an email on my I-Phone, and called the number. This is BOA. You can also go to their website and verify the phone number on their website. Still think it is strange for them to ask you for both your social and your credit card number for verification.

I think if some of the posters here don't even have an account with BOA, it's pretty  clear it's bogus.

I always check the path the email took since the emails I get are 100% the same as correspondance I do get from B of A. The one I just got was from France! I do not click the links, I just send to the abuse email which I have now entered into my adress book for easy access!
What about the people who just do what the email says....I feel really bad for them. If this IS legit, I will let the "abuse" department tell me so.

    Victim of this Number
All I will say is I fell for this con...hook,line and sinker. I went to my local Bank of America to complain about my log in problems, even brought print outs of the bogus emails. The associate told me if I had any problehs...to call that number! That did not feel good and made me wonder how far this scam plays out? They have the fake web site, the 800 number that just phishes everything you will give them, SS# etc.
The bank associate, well do I have to say it?
Believe me it's all true, take your money and run!!!
The run around on the phone and even complaining at the bank just gives more time to this gang to assume
your identity and clean you out. Why this scam is not more reported and exposed is anybody's guess?
I advise anybody with log in issues at BOA online banking, getting fake emails, calling the fake 800 number, don't wait or believe it will be fixed. Cut a
check and cash out, start over at another bank. This stuff and the wide reach it has is just scary.

I did not get this email but 18009336262 is Bank of America's Tech Support Line for their website if any of you have Bank of America you can confirm this on their website's contact list http://www.bankofamerica.com/onlinebanking/in ... s&statecheck=HI . It kinda sucks to give out your SS# but this is done to ensure you are who you are. I was locked out of my online acct cause i forgot my password then i had to call 18009336262 to reset everything and it was done with no problems now i have full access to my acct.

I received an e-mail from "Bank of America," stating that I should call this number if I was unaware of the changes in my account referred to in the a-mail.  I do not have a BOA account and have NEVER had a BOA account, so even though the e-mail appeared to be very "official," I knew it was a fraud.  When I called 800-933-6262, the message there also sounded official, except for the fact that the first thing they asked for was my 9-digit SSN or tax ID number.  Banks do not ask for your entire SSN, they ask for the last four digits.  So I hung up.  Who are these guys?

I got an email saying my account at BOA was locked. It was not true. I called BOA using the phone number on the real BOA web site and asked for information on this issue. The person I talked to didn't know anything. I'm sure this is a fraud.

THIS IS FRAUD. DON'T EVER CLICK ON LINKS OR GIVE OUT YOUR INFORMATION FROM AN EMAIL. Call your local bank or go to their MAIN site and grab a number from there.

they emailed me to an email I hardly use and I don't even have a BofA account with them.  Total bullsh*t - report these fools!!!

Tried to access my account via on=line banking. it asked that I re-set my pass code. WHEN i TRIED IT WANTED MY bANK CARD # AND pin. sO i CLICKED ON THE ON-LINE CHAT BUTTON AND THEY HAVE GOTTEN TO THAT. tHE rEP ON LINE SAID IT WAS ok FOR ME TO ENTER THE INFORMATION. i have banked with BOA (and whoever they bought out to get thre) for 30 years. They have NEVER asked for a SSN or PIN#. A major Scam. Why can't BOA fix this?

Bank of America does NOT preosecute and will not even pass these hack attempts on to any type of authority because it violates the PRIVACY OF THE PERPETRATOR.  If you do business with BOA, change banks. They are despicable and vile

Hi.  I just got this e-mail.  FRAUD!!!!!  I did call the number in the e-mail provided and it is legit.  They asked that I forward the e-mail to the fraud department and that BOA would never put a link in their e-mails.

Received a similar suspicious email.  Poor grammar to start.

The number appears legitimate however, one glaring difference when the number is called.  It does not ask for the account number as usual, but instead asks for your COMPLETE SS#.  BOA never does that, only asking for the LAST FOUR of the SS#, after you input the account info.

    Looks "phish-y" to me.

A customer representative gave me this phone number. His name is Samuel. The number I called requested that I enter my nine digit social security #. At first, I thought I had dialed the # incorrectly. I re-dialed. When it asked me the same question, I hung up. There was no email for me, just the recommendation of a customer service representative. How odd!

I just had an online conversation with a customer representative from Online Banking. Dani says that this is a new verification process. So either I'm logging onto the wrong website or this is the real deal. I saved the conversation and took print screens. What is going on?

I was stupid enough to enter my social security number, then realized that was a serious mistake.  What can be done now?
