800-946-0332 called on 1 May 2021. May Day SCAMMERS called at 9:12am. Who knows what time it is in their county.  I guess the Capital One SPOOFED Auto Finance scam had gone on long enough, so NOW it's the American Loan Forgiveness SCAM. Beware.

Tell them it is a $500 fine for the first offense. After that you can start making up to $5000. Look it up. They have to have your permission to call.

Wow, are you funny.  First of all, you're replying to a post from 11 years ago. Second of all, how exactly are you going to enforce those "fines"? What makes you think they even care? They're scammers. They know you can't do anything & they certainly don't care if you think they need your permission to call.

These people started calling about a week ago, every day. They leave a voice message from people with Indian (dot) accents. I don't owe them anything - never financed anything through them. So, dot accents, no business dealings = SCAM!!!

Been getting calls from this number for months, I don't have an auto loan with Capital One. I can't talk to anyone at this number, I am prompted to enter my 13 digit account number (don't have one), then if account number is unknown, to enter my 9 digit social security number (I don't think so!) It then hangs up if no valid number entered. Gotta be a scammer.

Is the really capital one phone number or is it a scammer?

Scammers can spoof a real number.  If you tell what they said to you, then someone might be able to tell if your caller was really them or a scammer.

I see these notes go way back (2008). The scam keeps going, huh? I got a call. No message was left. No auto fins through this co.

I got about the same call as others reported except I couldn't understand what was being said or the number he wanted me to call.

8009460332 is a valid number of Capital One. But I don't have any business with Capital One or Cards.
The caller is a scammer, using sproofing (Using app to show any numbers that they want to scam you)  to make his call as a valid and real ccall.

What if you don’t have a car loan at all and never have, nor ever applied for a car loan, like me? For me this was either a misdial (unlikely), or a spam marketing call (highly likely).

These people are from India they're not American people they're scammers and I did research on these numbers

If you did "research on these numbers" then what did you find out?

It is a scam. I have 2 capital one credit cards. Both with a zero balance.  I keep getting offers in the mail for capital one auto finance but I have never had a auto loan through them, and do not intend to get one. I have one current auto loan that my payments are on auto pay each month. I check all my statements each month as well.
I will call capital one customer service to find out why they called as no message was left. Either it was them trying to get me to sign up for a new auto loan with them or it is indeed a scam
