- MellieI do not have a Capital One card nor do I have a car payment of any kind. This is very annoying. I am on the Do Not Call list too.
- San Antonio, TX| 1 replyReceived a message from Nathan at 1-800-946-0332. Identified himself as Capital One Auto Finance; said it was urgent and important to call him back today before 9 pm.
This message was for my husband. He does not have an auto loan through Capital One. He tried calling back 1-800-946-0332 but it's only an automated system that asks for your loan number or SSN. He didn't want to give his SSN, but there is no way to get to an operator on that number, so he is not going to call back.- Caller: Capital One Auto Finanace

- Rocket Scientist| 1 replyUse your brains and do some research. This is a valid Capital One number for Auto Finance. Use your search engine and you'll get a return with the number on their site. This is not a scam and being on the Do Not Call registry doesnt stop collections calls. Collections calls are valid and legal. If you have told them repeatedly it's a wrong number and nothing happens, WRITE to the address you gave them. By doing this they are legally obligated to stop. If you want to stop getting everything like mail/phone/emails, you are going to have to give them information like your address, NAME, phone number, etc. or they simply dont have enough information to do so. It's not rocket science. They are required to tie a name to an address. Do you really think an agent working in a call center is going to know EXACTLY how the automated system got and dialed your number? Again use your heads, if someone puts in the wrong phone number and it happens to be you, you're gonna get called. Being an [***] doesnt help a bit and makes it more likely they wont fulfill on your request.

- credit score 756 replies to Rocket Scientist| 1 replyThe person calling you an a** is being far too polite.
i politely told them, for a year, that i am not "jason" (and i'm not) and was told 'oh, ok we'll take this number off our list". its been three years. and legally, they are required to stop calling regardless if it is in writing or not - but beyond that, use some common sense - for three years i've been telling you that you have the wrong number; am i suddenly going to change my mind? at what point do they realize they're wasting their time and money calling me? cleary never, because the folks who work there are not paid to think and if they were intelligent at all, wouldn't be working there in the first place. - Julie replies to b| 5 repliesWe get about 4-5 calls/messages per day. They are for someone we don't know, has never lived with us, etc. We have been home on a few ocassions and explained this has been our number for over seven years and don't know who they are looking for. THEY WON"T STOP CALLING!!!!!
- jmsreceived a call from capital one; mailed payment almost a week ago. Why does it take so long to have a payment processed when a payment to someone else can take only a day or two?

- d| 2 repliesI received a call from this number and it left a voice message telling me to call back in 24 hrs. I called and it just rang and rang. However, I decided to call CapOne on the direct line and the automated message said that I wasn't due to pay until April 7th (a week away). My question is why the hell are they calling me a week BEFORE I am due to pay?? It doesn't make any sense, and when I call them tomorrow I will be sure to tell them so. This isn't very good business practices and those of you who say that they have the right to call when you are NOT overdue should go play in traffic including Cap One.
- whycall?I was also called by Cap One, and yes, I do have an auto loan with them. The only thing that's odd is my bank account is set up to automatically pay them every other pay day. In most cases it is paid (and posted)a week and a half before the due date.
Obviously, getting this call (via voice mail) out of the blue sent shivers up my spine because today is the due date. Naturally I panic and log into my bank's website. Sure enough, it was paid on 3/20. Then to be absolutely sure, I logged onto Cap One's website, and just like my bank, it also states my payment posted on 3/20. WTF?
Why in the hell would they call me and damn near give me a heart attack for absolutely nothing? It just doesn't make sense?- Caller: Capital One Auto

- Linda replies to San Antonio, TXAt 8:45 on a Sat morning, a message was left for me that "Your auto-finance loan is in a critical state". I do not have an auto loan with them or anyone else for that matter. My caller ID said it came from 469-241-7000 but I was to call the 800# and use my 7 digit account number or SSN#. Sounds like a scam to me! If they were legitimate and truly trying to do business with a customer, they would not "accidentally" call me nor would they state it was my account if they were trying to reach someone who used me as a reference.
- Doh! replies to credit score 756Science guy is right, if you simply write them your phone number will be removed and you'll stop getting calls. I had the same problem you did and wrote them last month- the calls have stopped.
- wallyHHave been getting calls from this number for past few weeks. I did have a Capital One Auto Loan but paid it off last year. Maybe they are trying to sell me a credit card or something. I aint answering and I aint interested in whatever theyre selling, especially DONT NEED NO CREDIT CARDS! Keep buying on credit and destroy America. Money is CREATED from debt. - May replies to Rocket ScientistYour reply is so rude. It must be nice to know it all!
- RegentThe number is Capital One but the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing. They want you to call them back and arrange payment over the phone for which they will gladly charge you $14.95 for the privilege, OR go to the website and arrange the payment for free. No, the call center does not have up to date info on the status of your payments which is why they don't have any clue about a payment made online for about a week after it posts. It's annoying. Save yourself the money if you need to make the payment - do it online.

- Sean| 3 repliesCapital One unethically calling my friends and family despite repeated contact with them by me telling them that my payment will be 7 days late.
They call even after written notification that they can't harass my employer, family and friends. Sure, it's against the law, but they know that they won't ever be held accountable
Folks, let me beg of you not to ever get a loan or credit card with these people. You will regret it I promise you. Even when I pay on time, their collection computers have not registered my payment and they call despite every time admitting the error. But no matter who you talk to the person has no power to stop their automated computer from continuing the harassing phone calls. They get paid last now.
Just because no one will prosecute them they think they are above the law.- Caller: Capital One Harassment
- Jon SumpterThey were calling for this deadbeat [***] who used to have my number. They use 411.com and other sources to try to locate losers that owe them money, and change phones, or have a disconnected phone.

- amboy08861 replies to Julie| 1 replythey have to take your name off the calling list. i received a call from them and several other collection agencies about some lowlife who used our place of business as employment/reference. shows how companies verify info on applications. i ask them to take my name off their calling list and they tell me within 24-48 hours. so far no call back from any of them- maybe because i tell them if i get any info, i will call them back- which i will.
this has worked with several other collection agencies that called on another lowlife who did the same thing. - amboy08861 replies to amboy08861forgot to add- the # that came thru on caller id is 281-201-1080. i got the 800# from the girl i spoke with. good luck.
