- D Ploof| 5 repliesBeware - This is not a Legitimate phone number! They called my husband from this number saying they were American Express and there was some fraudulent activities going on with our card. They asked for suspicious personal information. My husband called American Express and they said there was nothing going on with the card. DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFO. They might be somehow changing the caller id to reflect CitiBank's phone number.

Perhaps you might want to research "call spoofing" and see how it is used by scammers who often spoof legitimate number and impersonate banks. There are 42 pages here and among them are many posts that can clue you in on how they try to fool people. - Michaela replies to MikeHuntleton| 2 repliesIt may be a “legitimate number”, but I don’t have a Citicard or Citi account and they called my cell phone twice today. Luckily, it was labeled as Spam. Seems like Citi doesn’t care.
- Tygerkat replies to MichaelaOh, Citi most likely cares but how do you expect them to stop scammers from spoofing their phone number?
- BigA replies to MichaelaYou seem to be a bit conflicted. You say that there is no Citibank Account yet you say that your husband has one here that was overdue:

- NGGot the phone call from 800-950-5114. Since the phone showed Citi Cards in caller ID and I did have Citi accounts, I picked up the phone. In the call the lady (Indian accent)first wanted to verify a transaction from a card number that I did not recognize. She told me the card was opened 6 month ago from Xiamen China. I told her that I never opened that card and Citi has only very limited business in China. She then went on that my card was involved in an illegal transaction online today and asked me to stay online to talk to her supervisor (or another department, couldn't remember). I felt it's too suspicious to continue so I hang up. She immediately called me back from another number also shown as Citi (800-388-2200) trying to continue. I told her to stop and I would call Citibank myself.
I called the number printed on the back of my Citi card after that. As expected, the CSR from true Citibank didn't see any unknown account with any suspicious transactions under my name. The previous calls are scam.
It's shame that Citibank let scammers to use their official (or previous official) numbers for so long. Be aware!- Caller: 800-950-5114
- Anonymous| 1 replyThis IS the 24/7 citibank customer service number. The number you call to speak with an actual person. Pretty sneaky scam. I would have recognized the number and picked up. Usually I can't understand the person so I might have been tricked. Thank you for this info
- BigA replies to AnonymousI have had accounts at numerous banks over the years and never would have recognized their fraud phone number. If you can't understand someone why would you have been scammed?
- markymarkThis so-called "Citi Banks"(showed on caller ID) called me, saying I have a large charge on my credit card and just want to confirm. I don't even have a credit card with Citi to begin with. I just hung up on her.
