I've gotten several calls over time on my cell phone. I call Discover to ask if this is their number. They told me no.
And the rep. promised to report these calls and the phone number

After my last post I answered the calls the following day with the intention to get them to stop harassing me. The lady wanted my bank account info so she could set up automatic payments to "help me out". I told her I didn't need help making my payments as I've never made a late payment before and I would continue to take care of making my own payments in the future, so would she please take my # off their list. She said she would.

Fast forward to May 6 and the calls have started up again from this number! Same scenario as before multiple calls a day and never any message left. It's so annoying how intrusive it is. Especially when you've already taken the time to deal with them and told them to stop calling and remove your number. Heading to the do not call list to file another complaint against them, for what it's worth. Maybe if enough people complain they will take notice and shut them down. The site is:  donotcall.gov

We get phone calls multiple times a day from this number.  Today I actually answered the call and sure enough it was Mercedes from Discover.  She wanted to set up an auto pay for my husband's Discover card.  I told her I would  absolutely not give my bank account info to them and I pointed out the phishing complaints from this phone number.  People beware!

FYI if you check the security certificate at the website "cardmemberassistance.com", you'll see that it is signed and verified by Verisign, and the security certificate is held by DFS Services LLC - ie Discover Financial Services - which is the same as the security certificate at "Discovercard.com".

The website is legitimate.  The cardmember assistance program is a branch off of their collections department, but not exclusive to collections.  I've done business directly with Discover's cardmember assistance program before, and at that same website.

As to why exactly they're calling people, could be a number of different things.  Just know that the website, and presumably the phone calls are legitimate calls from a branch of Discover...

Received a call from this number so I called it back and it said "Welcome to Discover, please put in the last 4 digits of your social security number"  I hung up, and then called the Discover Customer Service line that is listed on their website.  The agent said that my account was in good standing and there was no documentation that anyone at discover was trying to reach me.  She said that the 800-951-0062 is not affiliated with them, and I have blocked them.  They have called every morning for the last 4 days.

"You can contact Discover Card at  (866) 567-1660 for more information on their credit card hardship programs and other options they may have." <<<< That's the information number for the hardship program @ Discover--NOT the one that's calling us!! Make note of that....

It is Discover.  I have a credit card with them, and am current on payments.  They said they were calling because I hadn't enrolled in the auto-pay service.  I asked why they are calling 5 times a day for that.  He offered a $40 statement credit for enrolling in the service.  I declined, and he offered the same credit for scheduling my next regular payment over the phone.  Hey, forty bucks is forty bucks.  He also agreed to remove my number from their call list.

Note: Do not call does not apply to companies that you do business with.

Hit post too soon.  I verified the number as legit from multiple sources.  They had personal information that only Discover would have.

The # 18009510062 is Discover financial services.  It is the # to a lesser known branch in collections, Where they call current card members to offer automatic payment arrangements to make it easier to pay their bills, they aslo call if you have gone over your credit limit and discuss solutions to bring it under so you dont report to the credit bureau. They also talk with their card members if they are having a hard time to see if there are any programs available. If they leave a message they put a note on the account. So if you are sceptical you can call customer service and have them call that # for you to connect you. Discovers ccustomer service #8003470326 or call the # on the back of your discover card.

It is true that discover card does have that info. But sometimes they need it to look up your account. If it doesnt prepopulate for them with your phone number when you call in then they cant help you because they dont have your information handy so they cant help you. So they have to look it up with either the actual account # or your social security #. Something that is yours and only yours. Then when its pulled up they will make sure they have the card member by having them verify the addrees and birthday

1-800-951-0062....This number is definitely a scam!  They called me several times a day for a week. Called the number back and it says it's discover card and wants your last 4 digits of SSN. Of course I called the real discover card number off of the back of my card and spoke to customer service.  She said that they haven't been trying to contact me and would report the number.

This is a debt collector  They have nothing to do with discover  and they try to enroll you in auto billing because they get a slice of the money they collect for discover.  If you are behind they ask for payment if you are up to date they ask you to enroll in auto billing.   Just tell them never call again

NEVER allow a caller to talk you into Autopay. Autopay is not worth it and has security loopholes. You also have little control in the event you run over and you need an extra day. Try changing an autopay and you will see what I mean.  Just pay your bills through your own bill pay or directly on the Discover site.
