I've been receiving phone calls from this number  several times a day for weeks. Sometimes they leave a message asking to call Wells Fargo. It looks like they have a new strategy.  Yesterday evening I received a text message stating, "Can you call back later?"

I just called Wells Fargo just to verify that the number in question was from their organization and they told me that it was NOT!. I told the representative that it sounded legit and I was told to disregard any contact from that phone number.

Probably someone listed your number as their own, either to avoid the calls or on accident

They call 1X sometimes 2X a day. It gets blocked automatically since it's in the FCC spam report.

Called me several times and left no message.   If it was actually WF, they would have left a message of some kind.  This is totally a scam.

My mother got a new computer.  The 2nd day after she got it, a message popped up with a voice saying it was from Microsoft and that her computer had a virus that "might" be collecting her credit card information etc.   Wanted her to click a link or call this number.  I told her to shut down the computer.

Didn't answer the phone call, but came to this site to check who it was. Saw the message about Wells Fargo calling about late payments to I checked online. Sure enough was missed it. So I made the payment right there online.

Either way I wouldn't make a payment over the phone to someone who called me, that just sounds like asking for trouble.
    • Caller: Wells Fargo, likely.
    • Call type: Debt collector
