He just called me, using his best Indian accent. He said my computer was sending him signals that it was infected with several viruses.  While we were on the phone I did a virus scan.  No Threats Found.  I raised my voice at him and told him not to call me again.  What a jerk!

Got the phone call - Caller ID - White Clayton - SCAM SCAM.

I did not answer and they did not leave a message.

But I had a call like this once before and a guy told me My computer had reported to them it had a problem.
He claimed to be from Microsoft.
I told them I did not have a problem and he argued with me.  I also told him Microsoft did not have my phone number and he still argued with me.
I knew it was a scam from the very beginning but I can see where people fall for it.

If I do answer a call from them......I will play them along... if they ask me to go to a web site I will PRETEND  to do so (NEVER DO THAT _ YOU WILL GET A VIRUS).   I will even give them false Credit card info when they start asking for it........I will keep them on the line so they have less time to scam others.

I did not answer the call but did a number look up and discovered it was a scammer.  In reading the comments on the look up the man (Clayton White) claims to be a tech from Microsoft needing access to people's computers in order to rid them of a virus.  Call seems to be coming out of Utah.

Common Indian or Pakistani tech scam.  They ignore all US laws.  Call blocker might be of some help.

I feel so bad for Mr. White, who is an actual person with an actual house in and actual city (Salt Lake) and a pretty much useless phone number.  If you call the number, you will get a very long voice message from Mr. White that his phone has been hacked.  He asks that if you get a call from him, you do two things: 1. Block his number and 2. File a report with the FCC about the fraud being perpetrated using his number.  Obviously his telephone company is not doing anything to help him or protect his number. So, for now, block his number and report this call as a scam to the FCC.

Same number (Clayton White) called here 4 times this evening.  First time when he started his computer virus shenanigans I sang  It's A Small World over and over and until he hung up. Then he called back and I asked him what he would like me to sing  and he hung up. 3rd and 4th time I didn't pick up the phone.

If he calls again, he gets the Barney song. I am sure that I can come up with a full repertoire of annoying songs to sing him.

My office is in my home so I tend to pick up calls when there is an actual name attached to the number..

I received a call on 23 June at 6:25 p.m. with my caller ID reading Clayton White.  It was the same Indian scam stating that there was a problem with my computer, etc. Having heard the scam at least 50 times in the past five years, I told the "scamming SOB" to get off my phone.  He just chuckled, and I hung up.  I called the number back, and did get a message from the real "Clayton White" whose phone number has been hijacked by this scammer operation.   I have reported the situation to both the FTC and the FCC.  The FCC is beginning to take specific actions, instructing, through regulations, telephone companies to take actions to prevent such blatant scams on the public.  I report this call to 800 Notes because it is important to get information out to people who have been violated by these scammers, and to insist on regulations, fines and follow-up on scamming operations by telecos, large and small.  The telcos have the equipment to trace scammers and violations, and needs to be a partner with the subscriber publics to eliminate these operations.

It boggles my mind that people actually fall for this BS scam.  These guys call from "Microsoft" yet can hardly speak English.  They give you an American name, in my case it was "Ricky" which is bogus.  Yeah right, more like Achmed.  So what if they have my name and phone number.  Don't be fooled!!  Ever put your name in Google or Zaba Search??  Your info is easily available.  That is how these scammers get your info.  And one more thing, these scammers call from spoofed numbers making it next to impossible to trace.  Be proactive people!  Don't fall for this scam!!

Caller ID said Clayton White.  He told me he was from microsoft and that there was a problem with my computer.  I lied and said I didn't even have a computer.  He said what kind of dumb #$#@ doesn't have a computer, then I hung up.

This person sends out "Spam" emails with tracking attached A N D a phoney letter about some purchase order...with a spoof phone number so when  the caller calls you hear a phoney "you reached a number that's not in service" Mean while they can see you called and your caller I.D. number. Which I can only assume there's an virus attached to this email...so if Clayton White calls some may fall for the Microsoft team was alerted scam.....there really are easier ways to get money out of ppl then this dumb idea. Criminals are so stupid.

It's really hard to believe that the real Clayton White is claiming his number was hijacked!?! Rather than act as some scammers secretary, if this guy was telling the truth, and disco the phone number then get a new one but unlisted. Phone companies change your phone numbers in cases like this if you file a police report. This guy is probably the scammer just trying to make sure no one contacts the FBI. Which really what is the FCC going to do??? Think about it. If the guy is scamming it a federal fraud issue crossing state lines. He's just making sure no contacts the real authorities.
