- SW RaushI just received my VISA statement. There were 2 charges on the same day of $69.95 from Impressive in Utah. Called, no answer.
- Gerrie Almaguer| 1 replyThe same thing happened to me on 1/13/2011. Thank goodness my credit card company was very helpfull and reversed the charges. These people are crooks!
- Caller: unknown
- Mike replies to Gerrie AlmaguerI was charged $69.95 twice on 2/10/11 so this looks like the most recent date I see so far.
I also just checked my online banking account today...2/13/11, and I have THREE credits to my account for $69.95???!?!?
I don't get it? I have used Paypal and Amazon for the last couple months. - linda TXI never use my card online I am an I T person and know to many hackers just called my bank and the PERIL SAINT has with drawn 69.95 3 times this month out of my account
- Just Jo in AR.Checked my account today and got a credit back on 2/13! an absolute surprise! I did file a police report and got a new bank card- but other than that I figured the money was a loss.
- MarthaThree charges of $69.95 on my Chase card on January 11th. I tried to call the Peril number and left a message but there was no one who answered the call, just a beep. Only one of the charges showed up on my statement and I called Chase right away. They told me that there were actually 3 charges since early January and that all had been removed by the company, which also went by the name "Impressive" and "North Bedford". Chase said it indicated they were some kind of publishing company. But the Peril Saint was the only name that appeared on my statement. Chase said it was very weird that this happened, but that it must have been someone entering their credit card number online and entering mine by accident.
Now I am wondering if I should cancel my credit card.- Caller: Peril Saint
- MarthaI just canceled my card with Chase and they will issue another. I sent them this URL.

- dittodittoSame deal for me. Jan 11, posted on Jan 13. 24.95. Cancelled cards and reported to bank fraud department. A month later, two charges (also from Utah) by a company named IMPRESSIVE in the amount of 69.95. Also fraudulent.
- Caller: Peril Saint
- Arleene replies to GI too have been charged twice now for $24.95. This scam company somehow got my debit card number. I have to go to the bank and file a complaint so the charges will be reimbursed after they do an investigation. I also have to cancel my account and get a new card and number. I've also been scammed by another company called Impressive. They charge $69.95 each time. I wonder if these companies are related somehow? I'm in New York. I see that no state is safe. Thank you G for your post. I found out the same information about my financial institution when I called them to complain about fraud
- Elderly LadyWho are these guys? A charge of $24.95 has hit my bank account again this month - this was after I had contacted the bank and filed a dispute last month. I really don't want to change my account numbers again - isn't there someone out there who can help?

What ca we do to protect our identity? - DonBilled $69.95 from Peril Saint. Filed a dispute with Bank of America. They investigated and said that charge originated from GrantSearch.com in Australia. B of A felt this is a legitimate charge. Peril Saint was simply the billing company. (They not only had the card number but also the CVC code from the back of the card). Went to the GrantSearch website and clicked on 'contact us'. On that page is a link to another page called **Scam Alert**. I strongly recommend that everyone go to this page. There is a lot of excellent information about this scam including the name, addresses and phone numbers of the person behind this scam. I plan to forward this info to B of A.
- Documatrix replies to Documatrix| 2 repliesMy bank got in touch with me regarding this charge after I disputed it.
I received this information submitted by the scammer.
Begin Letter:
[Documatrix] purchased our Grant Education services on 2009-07-22 at 02:24 PM from the website, which at the time was located at http://www.nationalgrantsearch.com. We've been unable to bill this customer for several months now while they have maintained their full access to the software which is now located at http://www.nationalgrantsearch.com/ [and what, exactly, changed about this web address?]. At the time of order, the customer provided us with a positive AVS Match and CV2 Security Match. The customers [sic] Phone number and Address they provided us with is:
[An address that's about 4 years old]
The Customer was notified of the new website location upon several occasions via the email they provided us with; [a legit email address], and it wasn't until just recently [1.5 years afterward] that we were able to begin billing them again for our services, and for this reason we understand why they may not recognize the transaction at this time.
However, at this time we have canceled the customers [sic] account to avoid any further frustrations and/or misunderstandings, and to avoid any and all future billings. Show they have any questions or concerns, they are welcomed to contact us at their earliest convenience.
End Letter
What's going to save me on this transaction is that I moved and changed my billing address (and zip code) long before this charge was alleged to have occurred, and that other transactions had billed successfully using the new address both before and after the alleged charge. Otherwise, it looks legitimate to the issuing bank for my credit card.
I'm shutting the account down on Monday.
Good luck to everyone. - Documatrix replies to TickedoffNo Red Box rentals here, I'm afraid.
I suspect someone's selling very old credit card numbers and billing addresses. I had a similar hit to my card last year and found myself suddenly subscribed to some sort of supplements-by-subscription deal. When I disputed those charges and got my money back, Wells Fargo said some ecommerce websites have squirrelly checkboxes buried in their checkout pages that subscribe people to these types of shady deals.
I thought it might be possible, as I'd recently purchased goods from a different online retailer that I'd never used, but then again, I've worked for software companies and had my hands in/on credit card transaction processing systems for a few years, so I tend to stay alert for shady deals like that.
Should have shut down my card right then and there, just to be on the safe side.
On the other hand, in this latest case, Wells Fargo apparently authorized a credit card transaction in which the alleged address information (basically, the zip code) didn't match that of my current card, so why is this *my* problem? The reality is that unmatched zip codes and card numbers result in the cards being processed at a higher interchange rate, so instead of paying, say, 2.79% per transaction, the shady boys at Peril Saint are paying 3.3% -- but the transaction still goes through.
I understand why they accept the transaction: It's because they don't want to inconvenience customers who might be embarrassed by failed transactions and therefore will take their credit card business elsewhere. However, I can't imagine that the revenue gained from allowing these potentially fraudulent transactions really offsets the cost of eating the actually fraudulent ones...
