I love a good conspiracy theory but...this is actually a legit number. I recently opened a case with Ebay over a missing purchase that got 'lost in the mail'. All contact to me, has come from this number. Now, do I really believe that the foreign gentleman that I dealt with is actually named 'Jeff'? No, not really. But he was pretty helpful.

For all the people above saying "They don't call at 10pm!" You're right! They're calling from 7pm PDT!

It is absolutely 100% eBay! I was shocked but the first call came at 9am EST yes that early..no message about 1 hr later they called and left message about seller updates, improving my listings yada yada yada, I usually get this call anytime there are seller updates. Never noticed the number before to be honest but rest assured it is indeed eBay. Just a friendly little message not digging for information or looking for my mothers middle name or the ss of her first born. Believe it or not, the choice is yours and to all the peeps getting so bent out of shape..you do realize the other people are  trying and are getting a rise out of all of you..this is what they want! nuff said!

event reminder is the best fitting..since the initial is about the seller updates coming soon

This is eBay. I work there. We do call at 10:00pm, if requested by a customer. 100% legit. It's funny how paranoid people can be.

Wrong, it IS eBay.  I've been a powerseller for 5 years and selling for over 15 years and every so often they call to help boost sales, etc.

This IS from eBay. Just got a scheduled call from a selling assistant to discuss the upcoming changes to seller ratings. There were people talking in the background so I assume this is an eBay customer service center. For the guy up above saying they wouldn't call at 10 p.m. When it's 10 p.m. on the East Coast it's only 8 p.m. there. DAAAAAHHHHH. Of course they would still be open. eBay has customers all over the world.

They gave some great recommendations to reduce my fees.

So again, this is a LEGIT number for the eBay customer service center.

Caller ID can be made to say anything. If I made my caller ID say "The White House", would you come on this forum and tell everyone 'This is the number for the White House, it's legit'. No. As always - NEVER give out personal information on a call you did not make, from a number you verified. NEVER call back a number given to you in a voice mail, email, or text, until you check it out. This back & forth 'real/not real' does no good. Look - it - up!

Why does this exact message complete with misspellings appear over and over under different names and dates?  Just curious Frank, Daria, etc.

That's not true I've been selling in eBay for over twenty years and they started calling me about every four months after I became a power seller. They will NEVER ask for personal information or even your user id but they will tell you all this crap about making more money tips to saving on listing fees etc.

AGREED!  They absolutely do. Just because you've never sold enough to be called doesn't mean they don't call other people.

Just got a call from this number; did not answer and the caller did not leave a voice message.  I don't know why, if it is Ebay, they would call me - - I am NOT a seller.  Ironically, I just bought something from an Ebay seller and just a few days later I get a call from this number???  And if it was, indeed, Ebay why not leave a message?  I see from checking on 800 Notes you all seem to be split on whether it's a SCAM or a legit call.  For now, I'll just wait to see if they call again and, if so, will  they leave a message.  Honestly don't know what to think.

I just got the call from 1 (801) 545-1800 and did not answer. They appeared to leave message but apparently listened to my message then were just slow to hang up, as no message.

I am concerned as I have been buying and corresponding w Ebay and ebay sellers a lot just the past week, and concerned my activities have been hacked?

NOT AN EBAY MEMBER OR CUSTOMER
I think this number to be a scam because my name is not John (which is whom they left the message for), they called me 3 times in one hour, they called me on two separate lines in that hour, one being my Virginia based cell phone and the other being my Minnesota based Google voice number, and when I called the number back it says something like, "this is A&E marketing..." and then gets cut off. They also only left one voice mail out of the 3 phone calls. Oh, and did I mention, I am not nor have ever been  an eBay customer or member. I'm not a power seller as the voice mail implies. I also don't associate my cell with my Google voice account, nor have I ever used my Google voice account to sign up for anything. This may be eBay's number, but someone is ghosting it to scam people.
